Future of Halo Deep Dive set for October 24

Bring MCC to the PS5 already. It'll breathe new life into the game and get people excited for what's next. Halo 3 is still one of the best multiplayer shooters ever made and there really isn't anything else out there like it. It's also different enough to other popular shooters that it can coexist with them, but the studio has to get the next game right.

Porting MCC to PS5 and even Switch 2 would be the best move they can pull to breathe some life into the series, and then prepare the newcomers for the next game

Halo ended when Bungie became independent and 343 was formed. The last true 'Halo' was Reach. Halo Studios was simply an attempt to 'wipe the name, wipe the shame' and it hasn't worked. The only way to save the franchise would be to stay as true as possible to the books which they won't do. The developers themselves don't have the talent to come up with more interesting stories. 343 rode over the lore roughshod and got what they deserved.

They need to rebase the IP with a spin off franchise.

New name, same universe, new characters and narrative arc. Then use that to completely mix up and modernise the entirely gameplay experience.

Otherwise this series is still too far stuck in the past.

They've drawn a line under that now along with Infinite.

Halo Remake on Unreal Engine will be start on PlayStation, coming late 2026 (25th anniversary)

Infinite played great. The problem was that it had one biome. It needed more content.
I thought that was the point of the game, that it would add additional sections to the ring over time - hence the infinite name. Now there's been 4 years and nothing. It's kinda fucked up, what have they done all these years?

Why dont get id tech?
Because you can't hire & fire people easily if they have to learn your in-house tech. It's easier to just write job offers where the candidates need to know Unreal. That's also one of the reasons why Unreal is so popular. It makes it easier for management to hire & fire devs, since anyone can "learn" Unreal.

Let id software take a shot at making Halo. Maybe a collaborative effort with one of the many COD teams.

343 is a joke. Hell, even Gearbox could probably make a better Halo than them.

343... I mean Halo Studios are being tasked with something more suitable for their creative level.

Remaking the first 3 Halo games.

The series doesn't have anywhere else to go.

Time to cash in on nostalgia.

Halo MCC on PS5/Switch 2 isn't going to happen. I'm not convinced anyway.

If it is coming to those platforms then this would be the event to announce it. If not, it's never coming.

I do think we'll get a trailer for the remake and hopefully Halo Wars 3 is announced.

Is Project Tatanka still in development or did that get cancelled?
Project Tatanka the Battle Royale on UE5 was cancelled but then became Project Ekur, supposedly an extraction shooter, which is going to become the replacement for Infinite multiplayer. They may still do a BR mode but it won't be the primary focus.

Cashing in on nostalgia for a platform people are leaving in their droves is also pretty risky. Xbox is at a point now where even Halo would perform poorly if restricted to their own hardware.

Releasing on PS5, Switch, and PC is the only way they'll potentially do well from another entry. I can't see it being a 10+ million sold game anymore though. They damaged the series severely with the last few attempts.

MCC on PS5 and Switch would test the waters, and it's far cheaper to do that than remaking Combat Evolved.

There should not be a future for Halo. 343 destroyed the franchise, nobody cares about it. Nobody is getting excited for a new Halo game. They should leave the series alone for a decade at least.

Is Halo still a flagship title?

I always thought it would remain one. Not so sure anymore. The midnight launch days for Halo 2 were a really long time ago. And now the parent company owns the biggest FPS of all time.

Peak was 2007 with Halo 3, nearly 2 decades ago, it's been in consistent decline ever since.

Halo 3 was the last great one for sure.
Well, guess what. That post called for Max Hoberman to take over for Halo. He designed the Halo 2 and 3 multiplayer, he is the founder and CEO of Certain Affinity.

Project Ekur is being done by Certain Affinity. And Halo Studios is handling the remake with Virtuos, and future Campaigns. Halo Studios is now led by Pierre, the guy who fixed Halo MCC.

So they certainly got the best guys with affinity to Halo to lead the Multiplayer and Campaign teams.

Infinite campaign was incredible but no more halo mp for me, awaiting br snipe shots? Greeted at spawn by en enemy, the old maps, halo mp can be magical at times but those moments don't justify playing it daily.
Bit of a stretch to say "incredible" it was a "fire and forget" title, minute you slogged through the main campaign, there is little reason to go back out and take out the "pockets of resistance" so to speak..

Veteran art director of 17years left, par for the course for LinkedIn with a super theatrical departure message, could be bad or could be good.

after 2 big Halo failures I say let them all go and try some new people. Do not look at the CURRENT COD, Battlefields..ect look at Halo 3 for inspiration.

The series is over 20 years old. I think the only sane thing to do is a reboot of the whole franchise. Hell, start the series over with the covenant war, build up the backstory a bit and finish the first game with the discovery of the first Halo. While doing that, modernize and overhaul the gameplay a bit as well.
