It's a travesty what happened to Blue Protocol, I was really itching to play it since they announced even on PS5.

Blue Protocol? More like Blue Balls :lollipop_steam_nose:
Yeah, I was really disappointed with how Bamco handled Blue Protocol. I wanted to try the MMO on the JP server, but I heard they were starting to ban non-JP accounts left and right so I gave up on that idea.

Anyways, I'm watching right now another video with impressions from the recent CBT in CN, and pretty much everything looks to be an improvement over the original Blue Protocol. The only thing I'm not sure of is the slight shift in art direction, but it's not a big deal.

I've been looking for new gachas that I had missed and came across 2 I'm giving a try.

CounterSide looked pretty cool, and so far the story has been OK, not the biggest fan of auto battle games, but I'll give an another week or two and see what's up. I enjoy the setting and the darker tone though. The art is also quite nice.

The other game I'm trying is Epic Seven Origin

I've never seen the show it's based on or played the previous iteration of this game, but it looks really good and some the animated attack sequences are stunning.

I've been playing a fair bit of HSR as of late on mobile, and I'll say that I'm pleasantly surprised by how well optimized it is on Android. Usually hoyo makes the best mobile versions of their games for iOS, but HSR runs very well on my Samsung S23. Feels like it stays at 60 fps for the whole game session which mine usually is between 10 - 30 minutes.

I wasn't even aware this thread was here lol. Nice catch-all thread for misc gachas though, I like it.

Anyways, DAMMIT I can't fit in any more gachas in my daily routine, but they keep coming out with new ones that look ridiculously good.

Also, gave Black Beacon a try, since their devs put out a letter about mismatched compensation between regions and promised to make right by it (along with a lot of freebies). The story is slow to get going but pretty good once it does. Otherwise, kinda unremarkable 3 person team swap action combat. The first 4 chapters are all related to the Tower of Babel, which I always thought was a really cool mythology. Lots of thought provoking stuff about destiny, fallacies, etc. The first 1-2 chapters are a poorly paced info dump, so it takes some effort to get to the payoff, but the payoff is good. Also I love the main girl's VA's accent, it's addicting.

I played Counterside for like a year, but the dailies just take too long once you get into 'upkeep' mode, and the content was slow to release. They made events not time-limited anymore, which somehow overwhelmed me and made me uninterested in it. Hard to explain, but that's how I felt. The character designs were good, and the story was pretty good too. Anything with the CEO robot guy usually got a few laughs from me. It's just another auto battler at the end of the day though.

Epic Seven, I wouldn't even glance at. They took the game on an extreme PVP focus to the detriment of every other facet of the game. This looks like a relaunch with some sweeping changes, but I wouldn't trust Smilegate AT ALL when it comes to games anymore.

They also were the first gacha to have a 'premium' gacha of even worse rates and an ultra expensive limited currency that was even worse than their regular or limited gacha. Absolute slimeball of a company, that's why a lot of players call them Slimegate.

I gave this a quick try but I'd really rather play this on PC or console with a controller. Looks promising though

Edit.
Hadn't heard of silver palace, will check it out

And ya, so far CounterSide has been fun, enjoying the story, but who knows if I'll stick with it. Right now it's fun tho.

Silver Palace looks nice, especially 2:10 LMAO, an anime bunny girl headlocks a big tittied harpy girl and bashes her head into the pavement, WTF XD

But I'm capped at gachas, 3 is the limit. I'm willing to shelf Genshin or H:SR for a year or so (both my accounts are cracked by now) if I get into something else, but it needs to be on PS5.

I like what I saw in the separate 11 minute gameplay trailer they've released (the victorian setting looks cool, and at the end there during the boss fight those parry effects were quite satisfying).

Also, since this seems to be a pretty ambitious gacha I made a separate thread on the gaming section, and I'll update that one as more info trickle in.

Might as well post this here, but it looks like we're finally getting info on the EN release of P5X (been waiting for more than a year for this). The info on Global will probably drop on May 15 to coincide with the P5X JP announcement.

The CN version is managed by Perfect World, but the JP and Global versions will be handled directly by Atlus/SEGA.

I'm probably not a big enough Atlas fan to get excited about this. I really enjoyed P3 and P5, loved the Nocturne remake, but a little bit of that formula goes a long way. There's just too much overlap in all of the Megaten stuff for me. Also I don't like the look of the MC in Phantom X.

I will say though, they did a good job of making it look/feel like a proper Persona game, but the gacha aspects can only detract from it.

I'm not a big fan of the main character choice myself, but everything else looks great (the production values are higher than in P5). I also like most of the character designs for the Phantom Thieves they've added so far. Here's one of the most recent ones they've released:

Tbh, I think they have a good opportunity to announce a Switch 2 version, which would make it the first gacha for the system. If they do that, I'll play it there. if not, I'll probably play it on mobile.

I also made a post in a different thread with a quick overview of the game and its gacha system:
  • Alternate universe of P5
  • There are dateable characters
  • Main story is still ongoing and follows a similar style to P5 (there are 3 or 4 main palaces out)
  • Gacha is similar to HoYo games:
    • standard banner with standard chars/weapons, limited character banner, limited weapon banner
    • I think they have 2 pity banner choices:
    • One like hoYo games:
      • 5* rate is 0.8%, 4* every 10, hard pity at 80.
      • 50/50 system
    • Another without 50/50:
      • Hard pity at 110, no 50/50 (you always get what you want)
      • Not sure of the normal rates but i think the average is about the same between the 2 systems.

Looks like HSR is doing a player-friendly move. That blue material for customizing your artifact substats when you build your own artifact is getting removed, and the gold one that allows you to do main stats only will be converted to allow for main stat and substats. They'll convert your inventory of blue ones into gold ones at 1:1 automatically when the patch drops.

3kcqz4z5eh0f1.png

Honestly I want something like this in Genshin so badly. Ideally there should be a way to make a "perfect" artifact at least once a month (as in you pick every stat and which stats get rolled into guaranteed). HSR has almost 70 characters that require 6 artifacts each. 1 "god roll" artifact per month is not a greedy ask. Especially when you never know when a set will get powercrept for a particular character. Or conversely they could let you omit certain substats while normal farming, so no more DEF stats on offensive character artifacts, etc.

But at least this is a nice change.

Man, how many more months before we finally get disc main stat tuning in ZZZ? It's already shit enough that it takes forever to get what you need as a main stat via a shitty music store, but an extremely rare tuning item is not fixing the problem cuz it's extremely rare, unlike say tuning items in WuWa where you have plenty of them and BP has them too and GF2 gone waaaaaay beyond that and almost completely eliminated the RNG. Like, I'm trying to make perfect builds of old characters I have in ZZZ now (cuz there's literally nothing else and better to do in the game until 2.0 launch) and it's so bad, I don't want to waste tuning item on old characters in case I'll need it for Yixuan and again, they're extremely rare for no reason whatsoever than to piss you off :messenger_pouting:

You should start playing Genshin if you honestly think that how ZZZ handles disc drives is bad. After almost 400 hours of play, I'm nowhere near having the number of good disc drives/artifacts that I have in ZZZ with similar time investment in both games.

I actually don't even have good artifacts with correct main stat and desired sub-stats for my main team, while in ZZZ I have 3-4 full teams with good disc drives. I'd easily say that the Genshin artifact system is worse than the one in ZZZ, and I now fully understand why people constantly complain about it.

They did tell you kinda why in her event.

Basically she lost most of her memory (in her neural cloud) after the events of the first game (that part we don't know why yet), and is looking for anything to help her remember (a backup or just more information). She does remember SKK a bit, and thinks he can fill in more information for her. She also has a voice quirk like Nemesis due to neural cloud damage. As she was wandering alone, she kept getting into battles with Elids and Varjagers, eventually wearing her down until she was completely unable to continue and went into hibernation mode. Then the Suomi/Ullrid gang found her in a deactivated state and brought her to their group. Suomi recognized her a little, but didn't have much info and thought it was selfish to ask their group to spend parts fixing Dush. Eventually they decided to reactivate her, but Dush felt guilty about it then spent the rest of the chapter trying to make it up to them. She won't let that group 'waste' any more parts fixing her up that could go to the group, so she's using part outdated gear and part farm equipment gear.

Now as to why she's like that in the Elmo, it's because it's not (yet) canon that she's there. I suspect that if the dolls are eventually allowed to team back up with SKK proper in the main story, she'll probably get a new outfit and a regular body.

It's still pretty bad, man. Maybe in comparison to Genshin it's way better, but you haven't played GF2:messenger_grinning:

Not only do they allow you to boost all stats without BS RNG, but also boost every stat to 200% (!!!), which is expensive as hell, but you can do it. Moreover, you only need a few great barrels and via Formation you can give them to anyone once and for all, as long as there's no character on the team who has it, same goes for keys you can give to anyone, so there's also no tedious inventory management.

They did tell you kinda why in her event.
Oh, well I missed it as well as her first banner, hopefully they'll bring it back and make it permanet at some point. I didn't read what you wrote cuz I want to find out on my own through her event. But it's cool that they explained it somehow, can't wait to know why. Love her as a character:messenger_smiling_hearts:

I'm only comparing with hoyo games. Out of all 3 big ones (Genshin, HSR, ZZZ), the best artifact/relic/disc drive system is in ZZZ.

Welp, Persona Gacha about to drop globally - I think. The glasses and the owl are dead giveaways

As someone who tried it on CN. Normal game but nothing more, powercreep in this game is pretty strong. Ann Takamaki fans. Unfortunately, she is pretty mediocre in this game. Futaba - everything is fine here, one of the best units in the game. Unfortunately, I don't think that the game will gain any strong popularity after the launch in Global, as far as I know, it was received rather coolly in CN.

What about Kasumi aka Best Girl from P5R?
Well, I won't comment on the part about Best Girl. But overall, she's doing well. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

The game changes quite a lot from update to update, someone stays on top, someone falls down. There are characters that relatively stay in one place, but in general, movements on the table are constant.
It will find its niche audience among Perosna fans, but it is unlikely to enjoy great popularity. It will also depend on how much they will twist Gatcha and donation outside of China. Since this game actually has nothing to do with Atlus (It was made under license by Black Wings studio), Atlus acts only as a publisher, and only as a publisher in Japan, in China the game was released by Perfect World. If the Global version will be published by Perfect World, then all sorts of options are possible, they don't have a very good history with Gatcha games (You don't have to go far for examples, TOF is their game).

I think I'll make an OT for P5X whenever Global releases (hopefully later this year), since there are a lot of Persona fans on GAF that might give this gacha a try.

Apparently you can clear the content just fine with standard units. Also, they plan on buffing some of the older units.

He's exaggerating a bit of course. But overall, everything is passable with standard units at the moment. The difference with meta ones is simply huge. Here the situation is roughly like in HSR, you can complete the battle in 6-8 cycles or in 2-3. Depending on your group. Because theoretically in HSR you can also play with standard units and even complete the entire story. The question is whether you want to. :messenger_grinning:

For me, the biggest red flag in this game so far is the participation - Perfect World. Let's see what happens in the global version.

While this may be true, that's always the biggest cope gacha quote in my eyes. Ain't nobody outside of people with alt accounts playing a gacha game to use the freebie characters only.

Oh I didn't realize Sega/Atlus wasn't the publisher. If global really is Perfect World, then definitely...

No Thanks Walter GIF

It is 100% Atlus/SEGA handling the publishing for Global and JP.

As far as I know, there is no news about this yet.
But in the same Korea the publisher is again Perfect World.
Therefore, there is a possibility that the game will be published by Atlus only in Japan. I haven't watched Gatcha Revenue for quite a while, but it seems like the game isn't showing particularly good results. And whether Atlus is willing to risk its finances outside of Japan is a good question.

I know that PW is handling CN and the other Asian markets where P5X has already been released, but I'm certain that Atlus/SEGA will handle the publishing for both JP and Global themselves.

We'll find out on 2 days anyways when they make the announcement . :P

Actually nvm. I'm already correct about the JP release being handled by Atlus/SEGA. We'll just have to wait for the Global info.

https://www.segasammy.co.jp/cms/wp-content/uploads/pdf/en/ir/20250512_q4_presentation_e.pdf (page 18 in their latest earnings report)

CN, KR, TW - licensed out to Perfect World.

JP - SEGA
There's an interesting story there. Since this game is not being developed by Atlus (Sega), they sold the license to Perfect World. Naturally, no one will let us read the contract and the internal agreement between the companies to understand what leverage Atlus has on PW. But for me personally, it seems extremely strange that Atlus has actually given up publishing rights in all regions except Japan.

PS - I forgot to add, they actually gave PW the two fattest markets, China and Korea, in terms of revenues in Gatcha games. The influx from Global will be simply insignificant compared to these regions.

IIRC, they're co-developing, as the director and scenario writer is Yusuke Nitta, who handled some of the other Persona 5 spinoffs (P5T and P5S). The producers are also from Atlus, but most of the dev work is done by the Chinese studio they've contracted.

That said, I'm not sure what's up with the publishing rights outside of CN (it makes sense to have Perfect World publishing in China though), but it would be weird for the American side of Atlus to make that tweet hinting at a global release if they're not the ones who will handle the publishing. Although stranger things have happened... so who knows. We'll get confirmation one way or another soon enough.

Mayar Mayar Also, about the P5X revenue in China, which like you said is pretty mid (to say the least). I think the IP is just not as popular as it is in Japan (and nowadays in the West).

I believe it will do well in the JP market (better than in CN) and do decent enough numbers on Global. At least that's my read on things although I could be way off with my speculation.

this is what peak culture looks like, I want this in WuWa now

And wait... there is more. We are not ready for the armpit revolution. Mica is cooking something!:

Speaking of BrownDust2, it looks like it got a new rating in Europe (PEGI 18), just as the Goblin Slayer collab has started, lol.

Is it good? I downloaded it a while ago, but never opened it. I know gachas are really time consuming, so idk if I should give this one a try. I google it, but most of it, are its "interesting" screens and skins.

So I was randomly thinking about Blue Protocol, an anime MMORPG, which unfortunately never launched outside of Japan, and closed its service back in January.

This got me to search and see if there's any news about Star Resonance (essentially Blue Protocol, but remade by a Tencent subsidiary, with a lot of new content and changes to the original game's systems, including added gacha mechanics for costumes), and it looks like it's coming along pretty well. There's currently a CBT ongoing in CN, and some western CCs have played it:

There's also this post from a few months back with more info:

I'm pretty excited to see how this turns out, as the original Blue Protocol had a lot of promise, but Bamco fucked up real bad by having an inexperienced team, which didn't know how to handle development on a live service/MMO.

Anyways, I'll end this post with dropping some screenshots taken by JP players hours before the shutdown of the Blue Protocol servers:

Isnt it making a comeback with the nave Star Resonance, or did that failed too?

I haven't played BrownDust2 myself, but I heard that the SRPG gameplay is pretty good. Not sure about the gacha system and rates, but these KR based gachas are usually quite F2P friendly.

Yeah, I think I mentioned in my follow-up post that impressions from the latest CBT are really positive.

I'm also interested to see how it all ends. Just if you take the Gatcha market, the main rule is - if Chinese and Korean players don't get hooked on your game, you have problems. Since there are so many Whales and the amount of money that flows into these games in these countries, compared to other regions. Global players simply don't have that culture and they don't spend that much.

Speaking of artifacts/relics, here's how my latest attempt to get good crit rolls on a head piece for Acheron went. Out of like 15 head piece drops, only one had the sub stats I needed, and 3 out of 4 enhancements obv went into the sub stats I didn't want...

KDiTbAa.png

The headpiece is still more usable than the one I had prior to this though... and now I have my Acheron at 79 CR and 159 CD (should be 169 CD once I unlock the final 10 CD trace at trailblaze 60 and level her up to 80)

The headpiece is still more usable than the one I had prior to this though... and now I have my Acheron at 79 CR and 159 CD (should be 169 CD once I unlock the final 10 CD trace at trailblaze 60 and level her up to 80)

For HSR you are trying too hard. My Acheron is much worse than yours, 55% Crit rate 160% Crit damage, I don't even have a lightcon for her, I use Good Night and Sleep Well. And that's enough for me.
I've never tried to min-max artifact stats, I don't have a single signature lightcon, and I haven't collected any edolons. If you just build characters relatively well in this game + give this character a good group, that's more than enough. A well-placed group in this game will solve many problems. Don't get too fixated on one character, just make good balanced groups and you'll be fine.

I just went into the game and ran through all the modes.

I screwed up the last rotation and FF ended up not being able to finish off the boss and lost points, but I'm too lazy to replay the fight. :messenger_grinning:
