GAF BT tracker for big events???

Saw someone mention it before that there was a BitTorrent tracker on here during E3 last year or something. Anyway, could something like this be setup to kep alleviate some of the stress from the forum? I don't know about anyone else, but the forum's pinged me out a few times already tonight, and this Nintendo conference was nothing. Next Tuesday'll be a nightmare if Sony really releases price and launch data along with new game vids. Would it be possible to setup a BT tracker as well as fencing the forum off to members only? I mean, it's not like we'll be sharing copyrighted video, it will just be an easy way for people to dload game footage without hammering the source site. If BT discussion is outlawed, then delete this thread mods. I just thought the idea sounded really good, and wondered why it hasn't been used more often. PEACE.

Transferring game videos is piracy! The feds will close GAF!
O_o

Is this a joke? I hope so. I don't see any difference between using BT and using mirrors. It's not like those sites like us direct linking during big events, and it's not like major sites don't watermark the shit out of every video. I don't know, maybe mandate that a link to the source and proper acknowledgement needs to be packed into each torrent. Something as simple as a .nfo file. PEACE

DC++ is kinda lame, a Gaf tracker would be nice so we could post vids game forum AND off topic.

While I agree it's a good idea (being the one who mentioned it in the Paris thread), I don't think it would do much for the forum itself. Less posts talking about which file mirrors are and are not working might help, but in a quite minor way.

You're right the traffic here is people refreshing pages repeatedly. But it would be so much easier to get vids when source sites start getting hammered. It was funny how quickly that french site was crippled tonight. With a BT tracker, the few who get through to a site first could seed quickly. And it would be an easy way to basically archive vids. I see a problem with the potential for people to post Insider stuff on there, but we could agree on a ToS, and anyone caught upping protected files could just be banned or something. Meh, is that a little bit crazy? ;) PEACE.
