I don't think it's all that bad. It's not like it's even remotely as bad as scat eating. Might be related to what drives people to chew on their hair or pick at it. I don't think there's an answer as to why either... I know I've done it a few times before tbh.

Is your friend related to this woman?

I do it as well. Sorry GAF, I'm a monster :(

Edit: I'm genuinely surprised how livid some of the responses are. And no, I don't know why I do it, just a habit I've had forever.

is it fuckin tasty or something? you cant chew gum or something instead?

I used to do this when I was like 5 years old.

It's fucked up I did it when 5 years old, I couldn't imagine an adult doing it.

Thought when I clicked the title that I was gonna post something like "lol totally read that as scabs but it was actually ______."

But nope.

That's disgusting.

Serious reply, yes I do. Surprised at the disgust in this thread, thought it was fairly common.
Picking them is somewhat common. Eating them not so much. But lots of people bite their nails and bite the skin around their nails, it's not really a whole lot different to that.

I used to but now I don't get any scabs.
I miss having scabs now :(

I remember the ones on my legs, with puss seeping out.

At first I thought this was a thread about a potential African "delicacy", then I thought it must be auto-corrected "crabs"... Then I realized the horror.

wow, very shocked we'd have scab eaters on this forum. Very. Shocked.
People with a common mental illness on a forum? Who'd have seen that coming?

(I have OCD and I pick scabs. Can't remember if I eat them but I have in the past.)

legit surprised that we've gone two pages without anyone defending the health benefits of eating scabs
Nah even picking scabs isn't healthy. I've had so many wounds last longer than they have any right to and a few scars to prove it.
