He probably suffers from dermatillomania or some other anxiety disorder like OCD. It's a form of self-harm similar to cutting only less severe. Basically, he's probably stressing about something.

the fuck is going on with the weird threads tonight? Saturday night drink-and-gaf? Im scared.

No OP this aggression will not stand, shut that shit down.

My friend is staying the night and I've been watching him pick and eat his scabs.
What is this. Do a lot of people do this or should I bring it up and shut it down?

Dear god, no.

I work with a girl who picks at her scabs constantly, to the point where she's probably permanently scarred her face, and then she eats the scabs. According to her it's a stress / anxiety thing.

Thanks for sharing.

Tell your friend to pack up his scabs and take that show on the road.

Yeah, I also peel off the dead skin on the soles of my feet, roll it into a ball, and chew on it like beef jerky.

Not really, wtf man? Why would you even ask?

Like someone above said, they likely have a disorder and should get help. I used to at least pick at the scabs as a kid, couldn't let them be for some reason. But eating them is on another level. Never knew they were called scabs, I thought this was about scallops first :lol

ITT though: the stigma regarding mental disorders is alive and well, it seems.

I'm not sure what would make someone eat something that comes off themselves, but scab eating is about the strangest gross thing that you can do. Even eating your own shit or piss makes more sense

Dangit I was in the middle of taking a bite of steak when I saw this thread title. *shakes fist*

Ask him if you can have one. It's only polite.
