DoW 2 is so great, anyone who has ever enjoyed an RTS should give it a shot. The core mechanics of the game are just about perfect, it could use some fine tuning and expanded content of course, but I fully believe that Relic is the master of the RTS at this point.

The rest of the games are a lot of fun.... I'm hoping that a developer can expand on the concept of Borderlands. It's a lot of fun, but is still pretty rough in a lot of ways.

All the time. Sometimes I would just fudge the numbers so small indie games would win. Of course I didn't say that out loud or type it just now, so I think I'm in the clear and no one will ever know.

too bad the actual good games like Little King Story, Resistance: Retribution and Demon souls won't be even on top 10
 
hey, don't hate a band because of the fans!

Uncharted 2 is a genuinely great game. I have no idea how Naughty Dog managed to get it all done in 18 months. Blows my mind.

Demon's Souls will definitely make the Top 10. If Valkyria Chronicles did it last year, Demon's Souls is a shoe-in for this year. There's a really sizable Sony contingent on GAF.

Shame about Little King's Story though, agreed. :/

This makes it sound like DS and VC got into the Top 10 because of a "sizeable Sony contingent", and not because they are amazing games that are both well-executed and innovative, a very rare combination. I'm a PC gamer and VC in particular still is my GotY 2008.

In any case you are wrong, sadly VC only made it to 11th place by a few points.

Re-reading my post, you're right. But that's totally not what I wanted to imply, sorry if it came across that way. I personally loved VC - and Demon's Souls is a good game that's more than just well-liked on GAF.

And damn, I really thought VC made the Top 10 last year. But it was close! I don't think Demon's Souls fans have to worry about it making this year's Top 10, though. And hey, having that sizable Sony contingent definitely doesn't hurt the cause. :p

No problem, because of the other DS discussion going on I probably overreacted a bit. It's just supremely annoying when people claim "you can't really like game X, it's just because you are a Z fanboy" about a game you genuinely think is awesome.

true. while the game is amazing and may totally desrve the GOTY award, the fans are really annoying. uncharted 2 that and uncharted 2 this. Its getting out of hand.
