I cant even see how New Jeezy > Com. On the production side, No ID kills it, much better than TM103. On the lyrical side, gotta give it to Com there too. Maybe y'all like the features and Jeezy's flow better, but i still think having better lyrics and production makes your album better.

Jay Elec has done absolutely nothing since getting signed. Couple shows (literally), polished some tracks, maybe did some new ones, that's it.

What a joke. I can't think of another artist who wasted their shot more than him. I mean, dude had all of NY and many other places around the world on his back after Exhibit C (officially) dropped. Everyone wanted to sign him, I remember people asking me if he had any mixtapes out, etc. And yes, he did do many shows and cultivated a fanbase that way, but he never released anything. It doesn't make any damn sense.

fuckouttahere, I make this god damn post every other month. Fuck it, too much good music came out this year for me to catch feelings over snaggletooth jones

Today brought about a production paradise. "The Believer" off of Comm's album is the best produced track I've heard all year. And OJ off of TM103 is some of that 'come from a long day and contemplate complete misanthropy' smooth shit.

My list based on whats come out so far, which i think is everything:

1. Oneirology-Cunninlynguists: This album is everything i love about Hip-Hop. Great production that evokes a great mood and laid back rhymes with great lyrics. This should be a must listen for any fans of rap.

2.Undun-The Roots: The haunting theme throughout this album evokes Imagery like no other record this year. Blackthought is great, as always, and the production on this record might of been my favorite from The Roots. Only reason it isnt my top is because there is only really 8 tracks, and there were quite a few features. I would of loved more of Blackthought.

3. The Dreamer/The Believer- Common: Common comes out swinging with this album. With No ID behind the boards, this is Commons best effort since Be. Ghetto Dreams and Blue Sky are some of my favorite songs of the year.

4. Section.80-Kendrick Lamar: I wasnt feeling Kendricks previous efforts that much, so I wasnt looking forward to this at all. But I gave it a shot and I am glad that I did. Keishas Song, Ronald Reagan Era, Hiiipower, The Spiteful Chant are just some of the great songs on the album. It is one of the few albums this year I can play the whole way through.

5. A Sucker For Pumps- TiRon & Ayomari: This album blew me away initially. This album was so catchy and poppy, but in the best way possible. Her Theme Song is what i want in a catchy song. I wish it didnt take as long as it did to find it.

6.Return Of The 4 Eva-Big K.R.I.T.

7. Together/Apart-Grieves

8. Castor,The Twin-Dessa: Fuck yall, its hip-hop enough and in my top 10.

9. Elmatic-Elzhi

10. :03 From Gold-The ILLZ

TM103 is one of the best sounding mainstream rap albums I've heard this year. The final mix on "F.A.M.E." is beautiful. A tear came to my eye.
Hope they didn't change it too drastically, F.A.M.E. is an incredible track and I'm pretty much in love with it's current version.

Two years ago all that was holding the album back was a Nas verse. Last year Jay played the album for a DJ in London. This year it's "finished" again. So yea, they've essentially been sitting on the album for awhile.

At what point do you think its just a bunch of bullshit? Shit's vapor ware.

Young Guru made a big deal about finishing the mastering process with Just Blaze for it; that was a couple months ago, and the last we got an update. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it didn't drop next year either. Elec is too afraid of people not liking it

It will be dropped silently a year after Jay gets dropped from Roc Nation. I dont understand how he is profitable for them.

if you see me in a fight with a bear, don't help me fool, help the bear!
what? For real? I always thought of jeezy making the same ish over and over again. I can't tell if its sarcasm.

The Reccession was dope... If you thought that was the same stuff over and over again I can't help you..

Jeezy has a lane that rolls in, but everyone does saying otherwise is just being silly

that Diggable Planets bassline, that flow/lyrics...i was getting 2 hours of sleep a day if i was lucky working fulltime at a hospital, medic class and fire dept internship, running around like a zombie. i'd play that shit and just keep movin.

i bet everyone in this thread has one track, at one point in time, that kept them from either quitting or doing some real ignorant shit.

That bassline is ridiculous. Listening to it right now.

I think that track is Hurt Me Soul for me personally. Not sure.

haha, you know since I see this is brought up every now and then. I'm curious, has anybody truly met someone who hates rappers(Or artists in general) just because they blew up/went mainstream?

Nope. Im sure they exist, as they do with any other Genre. I always get happy a rapper i followed since their beginning gets huge. I knew about Cole before he got signed, though i wasnt a huge fan until The Warm Up. I knew about Danny Brown well before yall knew about his crazy ass, but thats because i met him and know some of the same people. When Cudi blew up, it was also nice. I love talented guys getting successful.
