giving section80 a run through since i cant fall asleep yet...i'm still baffled that its such a polarizing album on here. although i guess we are quite the diverse cast of characters.

his flow is certainly lacking at times. Like he knows he's got smart lines and he refuses to cut them down to fit with the beat, he clashes with the beats instead.

But he stepped it up for that Drake interlude, flowed well with it there. (Section 80's still a good album though but overall Setbacks > Follow Me Home = S.80 > Long Term 2)

Because it is those two and the album is so meh is why people say it sucks..

Like the Firm

I have to figure you are trolling. NO I.D. is on a lot of people's Producer Of The Year lists. Common isnt as good as he use to be, but still better than 90% of the trash that gets pimped in this thread. Blue Sky/Ghetto Dreams/Sweet/Celebrate/The Believer are all much better than "meh". The rest of the album doesnt reach those highs, but is still worth a listen.

Blue Sky is the only song I consider to be a high...

And it's funny how when people comment on what you like they are trolling but when you do you are just "telling the truth"

As for NO ID never said he didn't deserve his props for this year... But people had No ID as poty before the common album..

If you get to wrongly call me out for trolling, i get to do the same. Anyways, I am in no mood to argue, ill just disagree and work on the Gaf-Hop XXX-Mas song.

I know some people like Creepin more but this is where its at for me
*dap* Favorite album of all time.

I can see people liking Creepin' more than Eternal. Too bad they'd be wrong.

I will say that Creepin' + Eternal is the best unofficial double album.

Hahahaha, siddx.
Damn. I missed a G-Unit page? Fuck me.

After the RED album I can't even fuck with the Documentary anymore. Seriously, the dude's voice just sends my mind straight to mark-ville. The beats are really nice and all, but Game.....Game...yeah. Game. haha I don't even know where to rate it anymore knowing that buster ass motherfucker made it. I swear, after RED and all his creepy stalker shit leading up to RED, he managed to dislodge a 5 mic album from my mind. It's never happened before. Congrats on making your old records fail game. I can't roll around with a straight face with Game knocking, sorry.

Common Album is a flavorless granola bar. Probably good for me, but damned if I'm gonna sit there and chew it.

I love those songs (minus Celebrate, it's alright), but I think Gold and Cloth deserve to be right there, and I think Gold is better than Blue Sky and Sweet as well.

I like those as well, just not as much. Blue Sky is probably my favorite song from this year.

The thing about Kendrick that keeps me from enjoying him 100% is his voice. Everything else is gravy.

Pretty much. Every now and then he "gets" it (Rigamortis, Ronald Regan Era) but most of the time, he's just so stuck on trying to say some deep or clever shit he just forgets about the beat. He's voice isn't that great to begin with either. While Kendrick maybe the superior technical rapper, as far as sounding goes, everyone else in/on TDE shits all over him.

Q's Druggys With Hoes verse is verse of the year.

Yes.

Accurate way of putting it though is that he has an inconsistent flow. Flowing one second, trying to do some spoken word shit irregardless of beat another second.

Like I have said before, every new thing I hear from XV is better and better. I am legitimately hyped for his Debut.

His flow is just different from the rest of the common rappers imo, he adds an accent but at least he doesnt push that grasp voice like Jeezy. That is why I dont really care for J-Rock, Schoolboy raps about weed to much and Ab-soul I do like. But Kendrick raps about real life problems and such, which is why I prefer him over the others. The message is more important then hoes, weed, and ghetto this and that. Kendrick does talk about all those things but not overly so.

We're not saying he's terrible just that his lows are MUCH lower than his highs are high. Hol Up has too good of production for lyrics this bad

I wrote this record while
30 thousand feet in the air
Stewardess complimenting me on my nappy hair
If I can fuck her in front of all of these passengers
They’ll probably think I’m a terrorist
Eat my asparagus, then I’m asking her

Haha, his delivery makes that line bearable. But he suffers a lot for stupid lines like that. It still amazes me Cole gets shitted on, yet every other Rapper has lame bars and people just ignore them.

Well from what I have heard from Cole is nothing but lame bars, sans a very few of his songs. Kendrick does have funny or lame bars depends on how you take them, but at least he talks about social issues and such. J.Cole not as much. Maybe I am just a social issues rap fan, but this money, cars, and hoes crap has just about tired me out of most hip hop these days.

I think you've found a way to articulate how I feel about Kendrick better than I ever could.

Dude has so much potential, sometimes it's just mismanaged. Kendrick is blessed with and should be thankful for such amazing production, because a lot of the times it makes his shittier raps bearable. That Talib comparison is kinda scary accurate though.

Kendrick is at a make/break point in his career, let's hope he can find a good way to manage all that creativity and pump out more HiiiPowers and Keisha's Songs.

Cole talks about social issues, and is able to coherently convey them way better than Kendrick can. Whether they are issues relevant to you is another issue entirely, but Kendrick is a bit overzealous at times.

Really? The vast majority of Cole songs are about social issues
