Couldn't disagree more with the assertion that his lows are lower than his highs, but then again most of you guys didn't get Overly Dedicated, which is also appalling to me. The depth of a track like ADHD is merely a continuance of a theme that originated in Overly Dedicated.

Well from what I have heard from Cole is nothing but lame bars, sans a very few of his songs. Kendrick does have funny or lame bars depends on how you take them, but at least he talks about social issues and such. J.Cole not as much. Maybe I am just a social issues rap fan, but this money, cars, and hoes crap has just about tired me out of most hip hop these days.

Cole is a better rapper than K.Dot. Kendrick had the better album. The Warm Up/Friday Night Lights contain a lot of examples on how un-lame Cole's bars are.

Cole's flow is derivative, Kendrick's is more original. Kendrick can rap faster, and strings multi-syllabic words together much more seamlessly. Kendrick's flow simply often overwhelms a bit to the point where it's completely offbeat. And of course his delivery is pretty awful as well. But if you think Cole could rap Rigamortus than you're out of your fucking mind.

So Twista is the GOAT?

Ignorance Is Bliss is the only song on OD that I liked. It's still my favorite Kendrick track.

Kendricks flow is only more original because most rappers like to stay on beat. Dont get me wrong, I loved Section 80, but Cole has the better discography right now, IMO. Section 80 was a much better album than Cole World though. And whether or not Cole could rap Rigamortus is irrelevant. Its like saying Common cant rap a Twista song, doesnt make Twista a better artist. What I am trying to say is that lacking the ability to rap fast or a certain style doesnt necessarily mean anything.

Edit: Facepalm.jpg I just noticed Enzo used the same example, but in a different way lol.

Strawman have a seat over there, while the grownups discuss hip-hop.
Speed has no correlation with the quality of a rapper's raps. Zero. Nada. Nothing. Especially in the case of someone like Kendrick where it can get in the way of his delivery and coherency, stuff that actually matters.

It's not just about speed, but yes speed is a fraction of what I'm describing. If we're talking about lyricism, then I think it's almost a wash. Although I'd stake that Kendrick's themes are much more relevant to current society, while Cole's are basically regurgitations of Tupac-isms from the mid 90s. Therefore, I moved on to discuss technique. Kendrick's delivery is definitely inferior, but I think the rest of his technique more than makes up for that. And yes while he goes offbeat sometimes, I wouldn't say that his verses are beat-less altogether. There's definitely a cohesive pace to his rhymes, it's just that the production he chooses is too downtempo for his style.

Edit: Speed/ability to string multi-syllabic rhymes can be a facet of quality, why do you think Busta, Eminem, Twista,Corey Gunz, and Ludracris often times ape the songs they're featured on?

I could buy that. I almost wrote Cole World was basically a collection of Brenda's Got a Baby

I agree to this as well, you said it much better then I could, I dont disagree that some of his bars fall flat as all rappers no matter who it is has bad bars sometimes, but his pace and style are what makes him who he is. He may go off beat, but it isnt much of a problem with how he handles himself when he does go offbeat. Sometimes he raps to fast for the beat, but it isnt over apparent, at least to me it isnt nor does it kill the whole song.

This I can agree to

I totally agree, they are great qualities. I am just saying comparing an artists ability to rap in that fashion to one who doesnt is a bit harsh. I like Kendrick a lot, I just prefer Coles solid delivery to Kendricks unique, but sometimes wavering delivery. Either way, I am a fan of them both.

This makes more sense than just "raps faster" as a bullet point, and I agree with much of this. It's more than speed alone that can make an attractive style of rapping, the faster you rap the more of these qualities and stuff like flow you need to carry your raps.

Can't say no to more stuff that resembles the Pac's music though. All of Cole's influences are pretty obvious, and I understand how that may annoy people, but it doesn't bother me at the end of the day because sometimes you just want to hear more of what you like as long as it isn't a bastardization of such.

Too much whack balla balla garbage being shouted out in here.

Verse of the year goes to Vinnie Paz on Burning the Mirror
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff1MxS_qEcE
I'm Kool G Rap, Kaczynski and God wrapped in one
I keep a stupid bitch around me just to stash the gun
Fuck a crucifix, I'll use it just to stab a nun
What y'all did is incomparable to what Paz has done
I'm Black Sabbath, you savages get a lashing tongue
I'm black magic and ravenous, you a passive crumb
I'm a Russian AK and you's a Gatling Gun
I only listen to black metal and rap from Pun
I treat bitches like a jewel thief, smash and run
I write ignorance on looseleaf, that's for fun
You have the female tendencies of a bastard son
They say it's parts unknown where the assassin's from
Hey yo, Jus Allah load the Glock, rob his drums
And tell these sucka motherfuckas that the gods have come
I drink clear liquor all the way to blackened rum
The Glock an icebreaker, I don't mean a pack of gum

Shit has impeccable rhyme structure, multis out the ass, sick wordplay, some metaphors, it's a fucking textbook example of an ill verse. Oh and Vinnie delivers it like a fucking beast.

I saw your ATOY list, you have no room to talk about taste. You either are a JMT weed carrier being paid to talk em up online or just fucking delusional. JMT has their moments but to act like they are the only ones doing anything or value out there in hip hop is true to your name, ignorant as fuck.

The best part about that Mass Effect GAF-Hop picture is that Kanye is renegade. :lol

But really GAF-Hop is indeed the least inviting part of GAF, pretty much cause everyone comes in talking reckless anyways. And those who stay here are used to the gloves off mentality.

Eh, Kendrick Lamar is one of the worst rappers I've heard in a minute, but at least he has comedic value. I dunno if ignorance is bliss but Kendrick Lamar's definitely is.

JMT raps the same on every track, at least Kendrick can flip up his flow lol. I'm not gonna front either, JMT has some dope shit; who can deny Violent By Design. But 70% of their stuff sounds the exact same, but gets boring
