after browsing around for a while, i think i will be getting an MPD18 along with a yamaha PSR e233 keyboard instead of the m-audio keyrig/studio. browsing on their forums, it seems like the virtual instrument application isnt supported on windows 7 64 bit and their support doesnt wanna hear shit about it.

i emailed both akai and yamaha some questions and once they get back to me, these 2 along with FL studio are as good as bought. so excite

i think i will be going the same route -- FL Studio + MPD. including a keyboard, everything comes out a little under $500, which is still a lot less than the maschine ive been lusting for the past few months.

I couldn't help but see the trilogy as a nostalgia/ultra type deal where it's released free--and in the trilogy's case, sectioned chunks to build/maintain buzz throughout the year--with it getting a major label rerelease with an extra track or two per disc after once the money giving audience is there. He has to have signed some papers by now, with Drake's co-sign, and the kind of following he's built up in just this year alone.

I'll throw your opinion a bone - I have a lot of trouble listening to mainstream stuff now that I've discovered these threads (dating back to number 2). I mean its really tough for some reason.

Labels are obsolete. They're pagers. You don't need em anymore. He's built enough buzz. He can get DJ cosigns. He can get everything he could with his own promo and industry cosigns that could with a label imo. Big label didn't do shit for Yelawolf. Can't see it helping KRIT either. Him being on Def Jam won't sell him 1 extra album or concert ticket considering the following he built up on his own.

The only people they still benefit are uber stars like Jeezy, Yeezy and Weezy. People who just don't want to be bothered by the promo etc. I think Weeknd likes handling that shit.


Also, has it ever been confirmed that "The Weeknd" is just Abel and not a group(producers etc.)?

In my last issue of Complex, which has a Drake feature, Drizzy talked for a bit about how he came to know The Weeknd, and only referred to (it or him) as just being Abel.
