yeah cause they just announced it today.
In that case we'll see how the marketing comes along (and if it actually releases then or it's some Frank Ocean shit) before making assumptions. Dude can do alright just painting VEVO channels up, but I'm not exactly sure what a W or L is for Fetty Wap.

They don't keep their tour/merch money? Source? I thought the whole point of 300 was so that they could keep all that stuff and they could have a low overhead distribution company.

Anyways, I consider myself in the know and didn't know Fetty Wap had an album coming out so I'm pretty sure nobody does either. He'll do sub-50k.

s/o to my man Kardinal owning a summer with Dangerous, getting a rare Dr. Dre feature for his follow up track and doing 11k first week. Your biggest enemy is people not knowing.

Me. They take a much smaller percentage than a 360 deal but it's still a double digit number.

It's a near perfect scam tbh. A lot of these "hot" artists have no idea what they're doing, and from a distribution standpoint 300 looks/sounds better than the competition. In reality it's a perfect label for exploiting small scale success in the current climate (singles). Low overhead, smaller budgets, more teeth to sink into an artist's digital output.

Gonna be real interesting to see where Fetty is in a year or two.

Don't sleep on Dark Dayz off Gunplay's album. Definitely worth checking out even if most of the rest of the album is skippable material.

What was the consensus on that gunplay album? trash?

Beats collected straight from leftover God Forgives, I Don't and Self Made Vol. 2 sessions,

pretty meh.

Someone also forgot to let him know ain't no one looking for DJ Mustard anymore.

I feel like Gunplay has it in him to put out a decent album, but never pushed into the right direction.

- Jon Connor needs to drop a fucking record already. I'm having Crooked I flashbacks with the guy. He's got a little buzz because of Compton and he's doing exactly dick with it.

- Summertime 06 is rapidly becoming one of my favorite rap records ever. It's in the top 30, for sure.

- Snoop and Kendrick should do more songs together.

- I would pay money for a new Xzibit album.

- Daye Jack has a top 5 album of the year.

Jon Conner released a shit ton of mixtapes and has opened for countless artists, he's already gone through the cycle of thinking he has buzz releasing shit and realizing how few fans that really translates to... He also is better on features and has a hard time crafting songs with actual concepts or enticing themes. He'd probably make money just trying to get features then he ever will off of our of his albums. He's been around long enough that if he were ever gonna receive a big major label push it would have happened long ago when he was a new lukewarm commodity.

Yeah, I don't expect him to sell, but he's got to put out something of his own. His mixtapes are all jacking other people's beats, which is fine to a point. But he's too good to not have a project of his own. His raps are all about how hard he's working and I'm just not seeing it. I think he's a fine song maker personally, but he's letting it go to waste by being lazy. Anybody could sound good over the best selection of Kanye beats, or Dre beats.

Jon Conner shouldn't have signed to Aftermath, that's the biggest problem. He can't release anything without a greenlight from the label, and has probably recorded hundreds of songs that will never be released. It's not an issue of being lazy, he doesn't control what comes out or when. IIRC he has released two mixtapes since signing to Aftermath, both of which aren't noteworthy (they continue his "rap over other people's beats exclusively" gimmick).

He released a lot of mixtapes sure, and they didn't garner much attention. However he never really did a project that demanded attention from rap fans. His album has some noteworthy features (Gibbs, Royce) but the production is forgettable. Doing a project with Black Milk would have made perfect sense but nope.

Same shit with Elzhi, man. You can't win while being from Detroit and not working with anyone.

Vince should have taken the Earl Sweatshirt approach in the album length department.

lol at Vince splitting an under 60 minute project into two discs.
