There is no stopping the No Limit tank. Platinum album after gold album and the streets craving some of that gangsta rap goodness. Its time for the middle brother of the Miller boys, C-Murder to come through with that good ole gangsta shit entitled Life or Death. Silkk has the label covered with commercial type of tracks, while C- Murder covered the gangsta raps for the rumble tumble dudes (word to Slim Charles). Life or Death is probably one of the hardest rap albums I have ever heard. Its old school, but still has that No Limit flare throughout each track. The album starts off with an eerie intro setting the tone for the album as it goes into the single track A 2nd Chance. A 2nd Chance gives the listener a glimpse of Cs world of violence, drugs, and remorse which becomes the theme of this album. Tracks like Akickdoe!, Get N Paid (homage to Special Eds I got it Made), Picture Me, G and Macks, and Ghetto Ties tackles these subjects to the tee with hard hitting Beats by the Pound flavor.
The No Limit roster comes through along with UGK to fill that feature void, however C Murder holds his own through each track. I really want to give this album a 10 because Im a sucker for albums that have a steady flow and theme throughout them, however there are some setbacks. The 2Pac jockriding was in full effect by Master P which killed my high during the listening session. Also, some tracks needed to be left off of Life and Death. I understand that quantity>>>quality, especially with the marketing scheme of P to move records at an alarming rate, but this album would have been perfect if it was condensed to 13 to 15 tracks.
Bottom line, this album is a must own for any hip hop fan and probably C-Murders best album out of his lengthy discography of rugged gangsta tunes. Despite the nickpicking, Life or Death truly deserves a
