Flex outchea dissing Drake again

and French Montana, Bow Wow, Jay-Z, Nas, and The Breakfast Club

MUdCwWt.gif

Flex said that he would not support Future so this is kind of like taking the L. Future said he'd make so many records that Flex would have to play him and that's what he did. Now let's talk about this fuckery:

Accusing Power 105 of payola is laughable ESPECIALLY COMING FROM FLEX.
Flex sent a sublim at French with that "do you hear this French"
Flex really said he was the greatest DJ in New York history.
Ask Flex what happened when he refused to play Interscope records.
Flex couldn't come to Jersey so he's wrong about that.
This grown man is beefing with Bow Wow? How the fuck you beef with Bow Wow?
Flex stands for getting them checks and LOL at criticizing someone for going to Martha's Vineyard.
Playing a record for one hour straight means that Flex has the most power at any radio station in New York?

Already I've listened to Shadow of a Doubt plenty of times to share impressions. The album is pretty much a flawless marriage of his earlier somewhat downtempo melodic style and his more recent trap influenced mixtape output. There are a lot of detractors that bring up Pinata as if its even a valid comparison to this album. I honestly feel like if you're not feeling Shadow of a Doubt and went crazy for Pinata that you were more of a fan of Madlib than Freddie. Pinata is as much Madlib's brainchild as it was Freddie's and thus given that Shadow of a Doubt is not a Madlib collaboration coming in expecting the album to be in the same vein seems quite idiotic. I think Freddie's range is arguably most apparent on Shadow of a Doubt. He enlists a motley crew of rappers to feature on these tracks, and they're are a few moments where it feels like he's really trying to experiment with his sound, but the basic formula of what makes Gibbs special is ever present and very rarely does it feel like he's pandering except maybe on Lately. The weed carriers are largely gone and the misses are far and few between on a fifteen plus track album (counting the bonus ones). It's a certified top ten hip-hop album of the year for me.

Easily his best produced (I'm not talking purelybeat production here) and arranged album to date.

Shadow of a Doubt starts off really strong and drops really quickly (save for Basketball Wives)

Listen to the Alex Goose Pinata remix album

I agree and it's sort of unfair to compare it to Pinata which is kind of an amazing standout effort in it's own way and shouldn't overly color perceptions of his work that comes out after it

As someone who didn't like ESGN, but liked BFK a lot, and LOVED Pinata, Shadow of a Doubt sounds like his perfecting of the BFK sound.

Thanks, this is a solid post, good amount of stuff I haven't heard. Anyone remotely interested should listen to Devil's Playground and Runnin and Gunnin at least once in their life.

It's missing one of the best tracks to come out of that Memphis era though.

Bumping this in summertime is too good.

Clams Casino truly is some spiritual shit brehs.

I don't know how else I'd get through marking these exams without Clams in the back. And normally I can't do any work that requires concentration if there's music on in the background.

I have not. Trailer looks great. Comes out the 4th right? Gotta watch Carol and Brooklyn soon. Maybe a double feature.

It's already out in some ways, na mean. Carol was filmed here and some of my old theatre friends whom I worked with on 48 hour film festivals got parts. I should have kept acting brehs, I'm pretty salty.

I like Gibbs album. It's nice. Top 10 for the year? Gonna have to think about that.

It's easily top 10 material, top 5 even - but I'd be interested in what else you would put in your top 10

Pusha thought there were too many good albums and mixtapes this year so he trying to recreate the balance by dropping one of his weedplates

Damn, dining with the future president - Bernie must be happy to get this chance
