6. Magna Carta (Fuckwit, Tom Ford, Oceans, Beach, On the Run, Grail)

So halfway through and he only likes 6/17. Basically everything including that and below is garbage.

Quit hating on his MCHG ranking. He said it was tied for 4th a few months ago, old man is making some progress.

Yeezy Season continues. Time's AOTY.

"Kanye is the best there is, and he’s still not as good as he thinks he is. Has there ever been another great album this bitter, this entitled, this abrasively unsatisfied — or this self-aware about it? (See its most-quoted joke: “In a French-ass restaurant/Hurry up with my damn croissants.”) Yeezus is brief, spare, nasty, and as charismatic as a cult leader. Its music grinds sourly or lurches like an old rollercoaster; West’s voice drips contempt or hides behind frigid Auto-Tune effects. But Yeezus, has he ever got raw power."

Yeezus is awful. I waited 3 years for that turd. His worst album yet.

Yeezus is going to get that 808s burn, guaranteed. I want to say it's Ye's worst album but half of the songs on there seriously rank with the best of Ye's entire career.

Bruh I see, girls everywhere
Titties, ass, hands in the air
It’s a party over here
Shake it for the man of the year
Uh ma-man of the year
Ma-man of the bounce

I've just never really been a fan of Q's solo work (aside from a few songs). He has always been more of features guy to me

Prediction: Kendrick's next album won't be a concept album and thus will be criticized as not being cohesive (as if only concept albums are cohesive), it'll barely sell 600k records, won't have a noteworthy "big" single, and ultimately will be considered good but not as good as GKMC.

Cant call it till I get an inkling of what his direction will be. My greatest fear is that he'll tread water and stagnate. Kendrick is like Krit. Hes too happy. He has life already figured out in a lot of ways. Things are going too well for him. He needs to be destabilized somehow.

Ace, that ignorant48 mix, gawdamn, comes out the gate ferocious, like an angry peterboy/enzo tagteam when the Kanye signal goes up.

To be fair we don't know what his personal life is like. Outside of watching Martin on the tour bus while doing the NY Times crossword puzzle, we don't really know much about how he spends his time. I'm sure he has plenty to say.

The only thing I wouldn't want is the tired "frustrated superstar" album, complaining about fame. Discussing how the success has changed him as an artist would be fine, but I just don't want Kendrick's version of The Wall nahmean.

Regardless I think he's about to find out he's not as popular as he thinks he is, and Drake will get some snide "bench warmers think they started now huh" comments in. I hope I'm wrong and he goes plat again with an amazing "big" album, but I just think GKMC was a once in a lifetime thing. I also expect TDE to really flop next year.

Q's diabetes diagnosis is the first domino, then Q's low blood sugar throws him into a fit of rage when he hears Absoul tossed his insulin after hearing how the government uses it to control people.

Let's be real, his first album did as well as it did for 2 reasons:
a) Poetic Justice - mainly due to Drake and the Janet Jackson sample
b) The community desperately wanting to get behind him; all the cosigns, the desire for "lyricism" to make it's way back into the mainstream, all hugely benefited Drick, and he rode that wave to become king of the new school.

Swimming Pools got a lot of air time, plus the Dre seal of approval.

All depends on whether Dre still wants to work with him Though I think Kendrick knows where he wants his next album to go there was rumours of Quik being heavily involved and yet Quik insists he is retired.

Swimming Pools was huge though, I don't think Drake carried Kendrick. With respect to your second point, he definitely had cosigns from the entire industry and Interscope's machine behind him. But it's also worth pointing out the album was really fucking good and garnered universal acclaim throughout the music world. Plus he had Cali behind him, which ensured big sales.

Considering that it sounds like kendrick wrote Dre's verse on swimming pool.... and Dre sounded good on it. I wouldn't be surprised if Dre might tap kendrick to co-star (write) detox ...... if it happens. It would be the ultimate Aftermath co-sign for an artist going forward and would get them a platinum Dre album as well.

Kendrick is going to be dead before Detox comes out
