la fin du monde, various dogfish heads and stones, local crafts, arrogant bastard, some other shit.
I think the major issue is the gas and that it makes me so full.
That's tough, Dogfish/Stone are two of the top micro's in the country. I would hesitate to even call Stone a micro anymore they're kind of a tweener, especially with all of their expansion projects right now. I will say that if you jumped right to Arrogant Bastard that's a real acquired taste kinda beer, if that makes any sense. It's supposed to be a kick in the face kind of flavor profile. I never felt La Fin Du Monde myself, actually just had that conversation with a friend.
Do you like coffee? You could check out something like Speedway Stout
Otherwise I'd recommend like...
Allagash White,
Thunderweizen, etc for starter beers. Just beers that straight up taste good.
tbh though beer isn't something everyone has to get super into. You like what you like.
Where can I purchase this? Maybe Barons will carry it or something.
I also tried Stone IPA's/Arrogant Bastard (local San Diego stuff). So goddamn bitter. Straight disgusting to me.
High IBU beers can be an acquired taste man. I liked them right off the bat but most people work their way up to it. There are a lot, lot, lot, lot of shitty super-hopped up beers though. Stone IPA isn't one, Arrogant/Double Arrogant isn't either.
If you want to check out an IPA that's easy to get into I'd recommend
Sculpin by Ballast Point. Less aggressive, but it's probably my favorite "pound it out all night" IPA. If you're in SD I can get more detailed with what to look for/where to go.
I don't fuck with Stone too much, one-trick pony. La Fin Du Monde is delicious so I don't know Esch...But I'm obsessed with high quality stouts, Belgian Tripels/Quads, Saison, and Flanders Red...World Market usually has a great selection of beer.
I wouldn't call Stone a one-trick pony, but they're definitely getting overrated. If you're not big into IPA's there's only so much they can do for you right now. Stone Brewery out in Escondido is still like, the best drinking experience you can get. Menu is insane. They have another restaurant open in Point Loma now and it's not as extensive, but still good.
