That's the point though. There's no exclusivity to this, it'll just be spread around the internet within seconds of release.
tbh the exclusivity is irrelevant. If you have a solid fanbase and put a link in front of them that promises damn near anything, they'll click it (given you're posting at optimal times, etc). Once they click it you just need to convince them that putting an email address in is worth it, which for most people is nothing. An album cover is great for that.
They could have had a few hundred or thousand new subscribers based on doing something simple like this. Doing shit like this is exactly what they should be doing as a small label, actually. Capturing your fanbase. Growing your subscriber list. Pushing material out where you know they'll see it and pay attention--inboxes.
But you fuck it all up when you link to a form building subdomain from Universal Media Group that is literally the default information categories and a Schoolboy Q logo THAT DOESN'T EVEN MATCH THE COLOR OF THE PAGE. jfc it wasn't even posted on Q's account. Or on his website. Or on his Facebook.
Shit isn't double opt in. I can guarantee they're using like Vertical Response or some shit for their mail client. This whole thing just makes me angry.
