I'm pretty picky with seafood and usually stick to shrimp, but how is the consistency of scallops? They always look pretty "firm" or whatever.

scallops have a very unique texture, it's what makes them great in my opinion, and disgusting to others.
 
The scallops I've had are usually pretty fresh in my experience. The taste I dunno if you love seafood you'll love it if not I'm not sure it's more fishy than most seafood.

Depends on the kind of scallop but they can vary from soft/gel-like to somewhat firm. If you ever get scallops at a restaurant that are chewy/rubbery, send that shit back.

I agree with this:
scallops have a very unique texture, it's what makes them great in my opinion, and disgusting to others.

but i'd also say that if you aren't bothered by the occasional 'bounciness' of shrimp then scallops won't be a problem. They're one of my favorite seafoods personally.

Never been a super big fan of crab or lobster. They just take so much damn effort to eat. Plus they have a very short freshness window.

EVOO
salt
pepper

skillet medium heat until brown on both sides
squeeze lemon over scallops

soak overnight in italian dressing
smother in mayo
wrap in bacon
place tomato slice on top
broil 20 minutes

Shit I can just cook basic shit, rice and beans, variants of pasta, mostly grainy with your pork chop and steak here and there. Don't have a rice cooker, Spanish mom doesn't like it, and the beans are dependent on my grandma's limited supply of sofrito.

My favorite fish is still a chilean sea bass filet with some rice and sauteed broccolini. Shit is delicious.

Broccolini is low key a GOAT veggie.

for real when i was on the mediterranean shit was some of the finest eating ive done brehs, imagine walking up to a diner off the sea, asking for whatever the catch of the day & accompanying house wine is, getting a fresh squid risotto & such and the bill is like less than $10

i made friends with the owner at one spot in the south of croatia where i spent a few days cause id double the bill with the tip & still make off like a bandit, man that shit was nice
 
If anyone in or around LA wants a perfect dinner experience hit up The North Left in Santa Ana. I went a few weeks back and had one of the best meals of my life for around $100.


28 oz perfectly cooked rib eye. For an extra $20 they call it the "Swanson" and give you two glasses of whiskey with it.

My girlfriend and I split like 5 different plates and everything was perfect.

I'm usually fine with well done but I order medium because it doesn't taste too bloody and the establishment uses a better grade of meat.

Medium is also easier to pan fry.
