Cell Saga for sure. But that's mostly cause the OG pacing of the Frieza saga was pretty terrible. Watching Kai now, it's a lot more enjoyable now tho.

Nah, we just think it's weird to watch DBZ for the first time as a 30 year old man. The same is true for superhero comics, kenshin, etc. They're for kids.

Yup. His transformations were also more convincing. Not only due to the absorptions, but the art design of his character in each step. By the end of each arc, what was more terrifying? this:

Happens man. Anyway you could definitely give Kai a try, but the reason DBZ was so popular was because it felt like such a different departure from everything else for kids out there on TV. It was super, super violent (people died, shit). Plus the high octane action. The problem is that if you've been exposed to a lot of the tropes in it, you might be miffed at how familiar it is even though it's an originator; kind of like reading a lot of modern fantasy and then going back to Lord of the Rings and thinking it's generic, I guess?

Buu saga felt like a rehash of everything cool that happened in the series till that point. Even the Super Saiyan levels lost their novelty by then. Fusions were cool though.

The creator wanted Gohan to be the main and takeover from Goku he had been building up to it since Raddit thats why Gohan reaches his potential at the end of the Cell saga. He changed it due to fans wanting Goku as the lead.

Honestly Frieza was more scary feeling to me. Just because with Cell, there were plenty of points in time where they could have iced him, but failed or fucked up like
krillin just cause he was trying to get some robot pussy wtf
. Meanwhile on Namek they kept icing Frieza over and over again and he kept coming back like Jason and doing more horrible horrible shit. Plus the
dragon balls had died at that point in the story so it felt more for keeps.

Aw man, you for real? Goku needed to die off, his stupid ass. Gohan was the perfect blend too. Makes me second guess all of Buu Saga now; Cell saga would have been the best cut off point.

Frieza, to me, was the better villain. Dude was pure evil.

Hell yea man. I got seriously gassed up when a friend of mine bought me a box of DBZ trading cards with a foil in each pack (24 total) and that was the same birthday my parents hunkered down and bought me a PC of my own. The DBZ mania was real back then.

Smh lmfao and Frieza was good but like Courage said his dub wasn't the most threatening but his ruthlessness was what made him. Cell on the other hand was just really creepy every transformation until his was perfect form was unsettling. It was like a reptile slowly turning into some kind of reptilian human hybrid.

It's not. It's kinda cool since it's more about the adventure and fighting styles, but I think Yu Yu Hakusho does what Dragon Ball does but a lot better/funnier.

Dragon Ball had that adventure and Japanese culture vibe strong. Hated it when I was really young, but when I hit 12 I appreciated it. Dat tournament.

I didn't make it past Super 17 in GT. Once Goku when to Hell and started wrecking the dead Cell and Frieza, I was out.
