Yeah, I didn't finish them either. The first one I just ended up not liking, and the second one I just never went back to even though I kinda liked it. Gonna try epic sci-fi this year rather than focusing on the psychological trauma of a soldier and him beating his daughter.

It was about a guy who witnessed someone dying during war and felt guilty about it (indirectly he put the victim at the wrong place at the wrong time), and he developed PTSD that manifested as alcohol abuse and eventually lashing out at his 4-year-old daughter. Eventually it gets so bad that his wife and daughter leaves him and his daughter develops PTSD from her father's abuse. The second part goes back and forth between their two perspectives, eventually meeting at a therapy session and them trying to reconcile the past.
That would fit right in on a Sawano soundtrack.

Yeah. They never were going to really get back to being family. In the end the mostly just come to an understanding of each other and how the incidents impacted their lives.
Sadly, I write a lot of filler. After 50k words I still was only around the part where he lashes out after having a drunken hallucination (the second time he hits her, but the first time the wife finds out).

Reading back through the Dog Target Game, of course Ouro was Pinscher. How could i have been so blind? I just had it stuck in my head that Greyhound had to be Ouro and so my mind was blocked from any other possibilities.
I should have known Greyhound was Blarg from the very moment he replied to my tanner joke. But honestly, that reply was the reason i thought it was Ouro in the first place.
I'm not sure whether to be offended or grateful for the comparison.

It's really my dream to write like Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett (and Neil Gaiman, a la Good Omens). I think I can do all right, but I just never have a good concept in mind for that style.

Neverwhere got me started on Neil Gaiman. And my high school English teacher was obsessed with Kurt Vonnegut, so much that basically all of 10th grade was dedicated to Slaughterhouse Five. Vonnegut is amazing.
