Some pretty generic photos midday in Seville but thought there were some interesting colors. A little worried about the laws here to fly at night/sunset and the interference is pretty bad. So didn't take the time to really frame anything ): The river color is cool and love the purple trees.

Didn't get the shots I wanted because I was dumb and didn't charge my batteries, but these came out okay. Only had about 30 minutes of flight time across 3 batteries. Rookie mistake.

I'll try again tonight if we finish work in time. Otherwise, I think I'm gonna go for a nighttime photo since Dallas lights up a bunch of their buildings all pretty like.

Amazing, where do you launch from? I've been getting pretty bad anxiety about launching in public spaces for some reason. I don't like to disturb people (or wildlife) so I'm pretty scared to launch from anywhere but something private.

Nice, I was there in March, but haven't been able to processed the images yet.

I'm on mobile, so hoping this works. I try to find places that are away from the population but close to what I want to see. In this case, I'm in the minivan parked on a low-traffic street, just outside a public parking area (right side of frame, crudely drawn arrow):

But I'm with you, I don't like drawing attention to myself. And I'll always fly line-of-sight. My #1 rule with flying (that I'll occasionally bend)-- don't fly anywhere you aren't prepared to go get it if something happened. If you're over a lake, better have a boat handy, etc.

Haha certainly broke that rule in Lagos when I was 3-400m off the coast. I don't mind losing it honestly, it's more about getting in trouble/making people uncomfortable.

There were some incredible photo ops last night in Seville I passed on cause of the crowds. I'm in Granada tonight and am going to carry it with me to see if something presents itself. We did the Alhambra today which was amazing (and they don't check bags if you want to bring a drone in!). Some night pictures of it will be really neat so we're gonna take a cab up near it and find something secluded.

I feel like a drone would be really cool, but I don't really handle the wide angle photography that suits it quite well enough to want to invest in such a kit.

Had a single photographer follow me on Instagram and I've constantly been getting more follower request from photographers since then.

Social Media is weird.

I'm surprised you didn't get on the local news lol.

If my sense of direction is working 100%, you're like less than a mile away from Dallas County jail and one of the county courthouses.

Though to be fair, I don't think I've heard of a law or whatever that bans you from flying nearby the jail... well, as long as it's not literally inches of the wall I guess lol.

DJI has geo-fences built into the app to avoid things like that. If you attempt to fly in a no-fly zone the drone will hit an invisible wall. If you try to take off within a no-fly zone the app will notify you of your position and refuse to leave the ground.

So no reason to be on the news.

The app seems pretty good about not letting you fly in places you shouldn't

Oh wow, I didn't know that at all... that's pretty fncking awesome actually.

If only I could justify the cost of a drone... I'd have bought one already lol. As it is right now, I'm in an air-conditioned office 9 hours a day in a work week and I just don't have any justification for even buying a Phantom 3.

Are there any other drones, preferably under $300 that takes decent pics, has the geo-fences thing, and is newbie friendly? I can probably justify something like that lol.

DJI just announced their newest drone today (DJI Spark), which is their smallest and most beginner friendly. They announced it at $500, which is probably the lowest price with the biggest feature set.

Really like this one. Awesome job!

I haven't posted here in a while. Done a ton of lurking though, lol. I'm still a novice but I've taken many pictures since purchasing my A6000 at the beginning of this year.

Here are a few. I usually adjust the saturation and use Instagram's structure tool in most of my photos. Any comments or suggestions are welcomed.

Back out today for another biking event. This time a singlespeed championship up firetracks and down through forest, so a bit of a challenge in underneath the forest canopy. I used an on-camera speedlight to pop a bit of fill flash, but I think it would have been better if I'd been able to lay my hands on radio triggers so I could have had a bit more choice in positioning it as a backlight etc. on some sections. Still, a fun learning experience!

Lol this is amazing.

The guy was fantastic - he'd just cycled up this crazy climb using only one gear (the Singlespeed rules are that the bikes are limited like that) and when he spotted me near the top he shouted "eine moment!" and popped his cigar in his mouth to complete the look :-D

Getting my first proper camera tomorrow and I hope I can get some good shots to show off here eventually :D.

Going to the Maldives in a few months and Japan next year and hope I will be able to get some nice shots from those places. But first I need to practice since I don't have much experience with DSLR cameras.

After all of the "I'm going on vacation next week, I need a huge zoom range, low light, super fast, super small, for $200" posts, this is refreshing to see someone plan out way ahead.

Yeah, I figured since I only have some minor experience with DSLR cameras that I should get some practice over the summer so I have a bigger chance of grabbing some good shots when it matters. Have watched a bunch of youtube vids to learn how the settings work, but the only way to really learn is to just do it yourself.

I just ordered one of these actually. Should be here in a couple weeks. Super excited! It'll be my first drone.

Print your photos! These came today and I couldn't be happier with bayphoto

24x30 metal print

I don't care if you have the nicest screen ever made, a well made print is going to top it. Obviously these photos don't do them much justice.

Nice! At what dpi did they print them in, 300?

I had my camera with me today and I wanted some pictures taken of me with other people (this was after a graduation ceremony). Often in this kind of situation I wind up disappointed that the shots aren't as good as they could be because the person who ends up taking the photo doesn't think about the framing/camera angle/etc. and I can't make in-the-moment adjustments to the aperture/shutter speed/ISO. Do you instruct the photo-taker directly? Do you put the camera on Auto mode?

Desperado, most people don't understand how to use a proper camera or how to frame/compose a picture. So I just hand them my phone if I want a picture, at least everyone knows how to basically take a decent photo with a phone and you'll get something useable.

Tripod + Self timer yo

But I usually put it on my "auto ish" settings. I get them 90% of the way right, then let the ISO have some breathing room to fine tune if I need someone else to take the photo. That being said, the only one I trust to take said photo is my GF, since my lenses are all manual ahaha.

Loving the drone photos! I have to admit I've nearly touched my Mavic as I've found the image quality to be surprisingly bad, but examples in this thread suggest it can do better.
Is it possible to take 4k resolution still photos? The still options seems to be really limited and I've not been able to get good screen grabs from 4k video.

Not sure where I'm going wrong but the images posted here are much cleaner than mine.

I have so many photos backed up ready to post from my stills camera though, I apologize in advance for the spam coming soon!

That was taken with the Phantom 3 at 12mp, Mavic also has a 12mp stills mode and I'd imagine it has a better sensor.
You'll need to shoot in RAW and process , as the auto exposure etc is pretty poor In DJI Go

Bought a drone last week

Yoooooooo. That is tight.

This is just an iPhone 6S Plus pano but I love it nonetheless. Some days in the Caribbean you have the sun spotlighting the beach but in the very near distance there are apocalyptic-looking clouds. The contrast looks surreal and is one of my favorite sights ever.

I am constantly amazed at what phones these days can produce (also a pano):
