Not exactly comic, but from a Batman animated movie:

Do webcomics count? Because if so the new Kill Six Billion Demons has a gorgeous artstyle.

I'm also partial to some of the mid parts of the Zebragirl webcomic where everything including the crosshatching and dialogue was done by hand. Unfortunately due to time constraints the artist has recently started to use more computer assistance leading to a cleaner look that i'm not quite sure I like.

Wow, I really love that. So much detail!

Comic and artist, please.

Non player - Nate Simpson

Hes only done 1 issue though. Hes the slowest comic creator ever, hes a super nice guy, but damn, he takes AGES. It took him like 1 yr to finish his first issue or something, I think he's nearly done number 2 though. Which surprises me because he used to be a concept artist and I can't imagine he could work that slow.

Thanks.

And no wonder it takes him so long if that is representative of the quality because damn.

2 I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Taiyo Matsumoto;
Most famous for Tekkon Kinkreet, also did awesome stuff like Ping Pong, Sunny(Current), GoGo Monster, No.5, Bamboo Samurai.
It looks a bit wonky at first, but actually hes an insane draughtsman and he as so many levels of 'naivety' to his different works. He's truly amazing.

Sergio Toppi;
I've never read his stuff because all of the books I have are french, but honestly, I dont need to. He seems hugely unknown but his artwork is some of the best and unique I've ever seen. He also does normal illustration work

Oh, I read that last year. Sharaz-De is fantastic stuff.

When I bought it a few years ago, it was before any of the recent publications were out in English, so it was the French edition (very very nice edition btw, the French always have awesome prints of comics T.T). My French isn't good enough to read it though, might have to double dip on an English version.

Like Poison Ivy doesn't ever seem to wear clothes
I'm pretty sure that her outfit does count as clothes I don't think it's that bad. I mean there are different examples where she's pretty much nude to a full costume like the DCnU version of her.

I'm kinda on the fence about it but it doesn't look bad like the Arkham one does. But my favorite is the more sort of stylized costume like the examples I've already posted.

Do webcomics count?

'Course they count. :)

Hey man listen, if you really think it displays really good art, then I guess you can go ahead. I didn't just make this thread for me. Main thing is I didn't wan't it chock full of manga any more than other types. So if you just browse the thread and think there's already a ton of manga, maybe wait a page or two. Otherwise go ahead. :) Just wanting to keep things varied. I know there's a ton of manga out there, especially that stereotypical anime style stuff. Just didn't want the thread to be full of that.

...more Rafael Albuquerque

Avatar worthy stuff there.

Chettler was just afraid the massive weeabooGAF lobby would subvert the thread for their own ends which is a very real fear.

That reminds me!

One of my favorite aspects of Sandman is the lettering, and Ramadan's is some of the best. It really contributes to the art (and characterization in other parts of the series, though this isn't one of the better examples of that), instead of distracting from it. Todd Klein deserves every single one of those Eisners he received for that series.

Something tells me you'll enjoy the latest issue of Sandman: Overture.

Fantastic thread, keep 'em coming! I've been on mobile, so I couldn't tribute, but I see many of my favorites mentioned: Moebius, Manara, Aja, Francavilla, Mignola, Otomo, Inoue, Murata and Urasawa for example.

Feel free when you're on a desktop or whatever. :)

I just ordered the complete collection of The Metabarons by Jodorowsky and Juan Giménez. I'll have to post some pictures, the art on the same pages looks amazing.

I've always liked this one by him though.

EDIT: picture at the top of this page is gorgeous. Very clean, and yet still very active.

Non player. only one issue has come out so far because the writer is also drawing and coloring it. While also getting into a bike accident.

Can't believe I forgot this wagon gem of art and culture:

Otoyomegatari by Kaoru Mori:

I wish I have the true high-res images - the details are fucking amazing in this manga (even the food looks fucking delish).

Since I was a child I always had a soft spot for Don Rosa's work on the Ducks:

I like how he puts details on characters that are often painted very simple. Doesn't hurt that he wrote the best Duck stories and that his research for his stories pays of most of the time.

Transformers generation one is the source of those images.

Yeah thx, I know the generation, but what comic series or country or where to buy etc? I haven't seen those around and I've got interest for a poster to go in my gaming lounge with that design style.

EDIT: Scratch that the image link has information on a comic and poster series by Dreamwave Productions

Now just need to source high resolution versions...DP is a stupid link bait site now.

It's 10+ years ago already but back then posters were available online. I got the Decepticon group poster. :)

Edit: Ebay has loads
