Do I try to virginize it or do they even bother checking for it? I would of course remove any hints of homebrew from the channels but I'm not sure if I need to go all the way with it.

UH OH.
I got that too at some point, don't remember during which process. Try reinstalling, or see if DOP-shop will connect to your network this time.The_Technomancer said:Hm, okay, using DOP-shop wouldn't connect to my network, so I followed the procedure to use DOP-Mii instead. Hm, I just tried re-installing with DOP-shop and I got a error making http request error. Sound familiar to anyone?Htown said:I got that too at some point, don't remember during which process. Try reinstalling, or see if DOP-shop will connect to your network this time.

It's a shame because SNES9XGX runs fantastically... The game I was playing was Megaman Zero games. Apparently, VBA GX runs GBC/GB games great, so that's good to know.

Obviously this is due a dirty disc, but do you guys recommend I clean the disc and try to re-rip, or is it safe to just leave it.
If the game works, you're probably OK. If it doesn't, you know what's to blame. Dual layer games have worked for ages. The only dual layer games are MPT, SSBB, Other M and MH3. All those games work fine except MPT which only works via the alternative dol method, needs cheats in order to choose difficulty and forces you to use the first save slot. MK Armageddon is a single layer game, but also needs the alternative dol technique.Nemesis556 said:I have a bit of a quick question.

Also, not sure how up to date the Wii Homebrew is, but is Metroid Prime Trilogy, MK Armageddon or any other dual layer games playable with USB Loader yet?
You need to use an IOS that is able to support USB peripherals (due to it supporting Wii Speak). Thus, the IOS you use to play the game must use IOS37 or IOS56 as its base. The current tutorial gives you IOS249 as base 56, which should work fine.MattyH said:is there any issues in running Monster Hunter Tri off the HDD
They should work properly. Do you have WiiConnect24 enabled? Are the country settings of you and your gift-giver's Wiis the same?Schlomo said:Is it possible to receive gifts from the shop channel if I'm not on the latest system menu? First I tried updating the shop channel, but that didn't seem to help, so then I updated to 4.2 (I was still on 3.3 all the time). But still no gift notification even though it should have been sent days ago. Should I try updating to 4.3, or could the problem be with something else?
Reinstall IOS236 and try again.Shiv47 said:I am trying to install StartPatch 4.2 after having run the Safe Upgrade from 4.1U. When I select IOS 236, I get the error message ISFS open error error -106. Where do I go from here?
Yes. Updating to 4.3 makes it very hard to fix things if you accidentally go and delete the HBC or something else. It also doesn't help you remove update attempts as the 4.2 and above updates will still try to correct your IOS222 and IOS249, even if you are already on 4.3. These problems are only minor ones, but there is no benefit to updating, so they tip the balance in the favour of not updating.Fuzzy said:Is there even a reason not to update to 4.3 if you have the latest HBC and everything else? Did you install the latest version of 236 according to the tutroial? Also, try using IOS222 as it should work too.Shiv47 said:I did this, and still get the same message; I tried selecting both IOS 36 and 236 when doing the StartPatch install, but get error messages either way. Play with some of the options in configurable. I think there are some to force the language (country or something like that) as I have a feeling the system is trying to get Japanese language data off the disc...which of course does not exist resulting in the failure to boot.wii_HD said:Trying to install A Boy And His Blob US retail disc to Configurable USB Loader Ver 60 on a Japanese wii 4.1J

Is there a solution?
You are going to need to test the various video mode options. Try various configurations of the video patch, vidtv and country patch options. Also, the language option might be confusing things. Try some other values of that too.wii_HD said:Trying to install A Boy And His Blob US retail disc to Configurable USB Loader Ver 60 on a Japanese wii 4.1J

Very strange indeed. I can only suggest trying out the other options too. lannguage, vidtv and country patch could all possibly fix things. There might just be a weird incompatibility, though.wii_HD said:Game ID SBLE5G

With homebrew, you can stay on 4.2 and still get the latest stuff on the shop, so perhaps now it's time to bite the bullet? Just update the shop. It's possible there is a newer version of the shop than the one mentioned in the tutorial (due to Netflix), so you might need to select the next version up if the specified one doesn't work. If so, please let me know so I can update the tutorial.PSGames said:Sorry for the stupid questions guys I'm new to the Wii homebrew scene. I'm currently on stock 4.2U and I want to upgrade to the newest firmware so I can get the new Netflix update. If I do that will I lose the ability to ever jailbreak it in the future?
Edit: Searching around it seem 4.3 is a lot more difficult to homebrew so I'll just stay at 4.2 for the time being.
It stopped working for me a couple of months ago and I have no idea why. I didn't post about it because I didn't really care.Speevy said:Has anyone else been having trouble with the homebrew browser? I can't seem to get it to load anymore.

Clipper said:Both of you should use the tutorial to upgrade your homebrew to the latest versions. You can treat your Wiis as if they were unmodded and just follow all the instructions. NinjaKixx, it sounds like your IOS249 in particular is way out of date as it has the dual layer bug. After upgrading it, you will need to delete Brawl and Other M and reinstall them. gutabo, after upgrading your homebrew, you can choose whether you want to upgrade the Wii or not. Instructions for that are also in the tutorial.
And for those that don't know what I'm talking about:

The only games that should be affected are SSBB, Metroid Prime Trilogy and Metroid: Other M. Whn I update IOS will I only need to reinstall the problematic games or will I need to reinstall every game I have?
You have the totally wrong idea. You won't be installing any forwarder wads with an official IOS. Perhaps they are referencing the fact that only certain base IOSes in the cIOSes are supported by the WAD managers? Follow the instructions in the tutorial for the forwarder, but using the forwarder you want instead of the Cfg one, and all should be good.Glix said:I checked the tutorial and couldn't find the answer I was looking for.
I put a GBA emulator on my wii so I can play Mother3. I like having forwarder channels. Apparently the forwarder channel needs to be installed from CIOS58 (maybe 57), i think. My HBC does not run off of this IOS.
Can I use Multi-Mod-Manager and select it to load 58, and then use the MMMapp manager to install the forwarder channel? I looked into this, but 58 doesn't show in my list of CIOS that I can run MMM from.
So I guess I have to find the cios58 on the net, install it with WAD Manager, then load it up in MMM and install the forwarder channel? Before I put in the work, I just want to know if this is the right way of going about it.
Thanks!

It is also possible that your emulator needs AHBPROT support (which gets confused with HBC's support for IOS58 sometimes). That doesn't need IOS58, but I don't think there is any forwarder which enables AHBPROT.
Oh. The forwarder comes with its own installer? It's weird that it needs IOS58. The only thing I thought that was needed for is to allow reading from burnt DVDs. It is also possible that you will need to reinstall the HBC after installing IOS58 so that it runs off IOS58 too.Glix said:Gotcha. Its not a forwarder wad. Its a dol that you have to run using HBC. Its for GBAVX.
Here is the instructions
Install IOS58 first, unzip the IOS58 installer archive, open the apps folder and copy the IOS58-installer folder to the apps folder of your Wii's SD card. Run this installer from the homebrew channel.
If you are using the Homebrew Channel just copy the apps directory from the archive to the root of your SD card. If you are using another loader use the executables/vbagx_wii.dol.
ROMs & saves files should be stored in vbagx/roms and vbagx/saves on the root of your SD card or USB flash drive. You can copy the vbagx directory from the archive to your support drive. Your ROMs must be in ".gb", ".gbc" or ".gba" format. To be clear, there will be 2 "vbagx" folders. One in your apps folder, and one on the SD root.
Launch the emulator using your Loader.
EDIT - I guess I just need to run the ios58 installer, and then it will install fine. When I try and run the program from HBC now, it tells me I'm running off the wrong IOS for install.
To clarify, the emulator itself works FINE from HBC, I'm just trying to get this forwarder, that apparently has special needs, to work properly.
It only started properly accepting NTFS drives as of the latest full release, v60. I haven't updated the site to reflect that yet, but will once I get a good set of time to do it.Ecrofirt said:So, I've been reading up on this lately because I've been considering modding my 4.2U Wii.
Quick question or two regarding the Configurable USB Loader that's talked about on the GWHT site:
http://gwht.wikidot.com/usb-loader
On the Wiki, it says that your external drive needs to be formatted to either FAT32 or WBFS. However, on the Configurable USB Loader page at GBATemp (http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=147638), it says that it supports "- Loading games from .wbfs or .iso files on a FAT or NTFS partition" as well.
It the Wiki a little bit out of date? Is it recommended to use FAT32 over NTFS? Further down on the GBATemp page, they talk about 4GB limits affecting FAT32 drives but make no mention of problems with NTFS drives.
