USB Loader will rip the games for you.
Also, regarding BootMii, Nintendo CAN patch the exploit in older Wiis, and have already largely preemptively defeated it on newer hardware. Or at least, they've defeated the current method for loading BootMii.

hey i keep getting the error -1 for usb loader. I got the 7.4 usb loader file and it runs i just can't get my USB hdd to read.
I believe i have cIOS36 rev 10. How can i check if i have it? i'm pretty sure i installed it properly. This is my first day trying to mod my wii. But i'm pretty sure I installed it properly. Also what other swap tricks are there that i could try?
Also, i can't even format my usb drive to wbfs in windows xp. I downloaded WBFS manager 2.2.2 and when i connect my drive to windows xp and click format it gives you the warning. However when i click yes format, nothing pops up, no status screen or anything so i have no idea if its formatting. Any help?
Thanks
WBFS Manager was updated to version 2.5 today. Nice changes.
If you're unsure what cIOS36 revision you have installed, just download the newest installer, and re-install. You can easily up/down/sidegrade your cIOS just by running the relevant installer again.
There are a couple of tricks to go through when testing HDDs, besides upgrading USB Loader and cIOS. They are as follows:
1) No matter what you do, make sure to only have one USB device plugged in. cIOS36 can't handle two USB devices.
2) If the HDD doesn't work in one USB port, reset and try the second.
3) Try loading USB Loader with the HDD unplugged, then pop it in when prompted.
4) I've heard of a swap trick that can trick earlier USB Loaders into recognizing your device, but I really don't know the details. Google it?
You should try these ideas individually first, then in combinations if all else fails.
Also, check out GBATemp's wiki page for USB Device Compatibility. If your device isn't listed, or is specifically listed as not working, you should shop around for a new one.

So, how are the load times on ripped Wii games via USB?
Just wondering if the prospect of not having to mess with discs is solely enough to justify the pain of actually ripping the discs.
Load times generally improve. SSBB's sometimes dramatic and usually annoying loads are greatly slashed. In the case of some games (such as House of the Dead), the game's actual performance improves. Nice.

this is tricky getting everything to work together.
I have the ultimate 7.4 usb loader installed, downloaded some disc images and set up a wii channel for it with parental controls (in theory) so my kids can't see madworld/resident evil, then another copy without parental controls in the homebrew channel for when I want some 'mature' action
but I can't get it to show the images, and it seems to be ignoring the parental controls
any suggestions? Haven't changed the standard settings, so images are in S:\images\kkk.png and should be the right size. Do I need to save the config/titles.txt files in any particular format (unicode?), whats the folder structure needed? Getting fed up with it now. It works, but I'm not letting my son loose on it until I can remove the adult stuff, and I want the images to work
Ultimate USB Loader 7.4 is highly configurable via the included config.txt file. This includes being able to specify folders for cover art images. titles.txt is what's used to override the sometimes silly and arbitrary names that the discs default to, and, if I'm not mistaken, is also used to individually supply games with parental code restrictions. If your downloaded cover images aren't showing up, it's probably because you either have the wrong path specified in the config.txt, or you've disabled covers entirely (change covers = 0 to covers = 1 in the config.txt).
