This isn't really a risk for iTunes though. All they do is give the artist front page promo and prioritize their album for a few days post launch.

And don't forget, Bey's last album wasn't super successful either. It took her three years to get it to 2x platinum.

The only reason I'm less inclined to believe its Taylor is because I think Taylor's much further along in her next album plans than anybody we know who's coming this year. This iTunes deal still sounds far away.

I think, if anything, it's the perfect time for Taylor to jump in on this. If she's almost done with her album, then this could give them the incentive to seal the deal and start focusing on promo. It's the perfect time for news like this to emerge, when an artist is almost ready to start working on a release schedule.

And as for iTunes, it could be. It means giving up space that could be used by an artist that could get them more revenue.

I just can't imagine iTunes giving up all their promo space for Christina like they did for Bey. This is only their second time doing this, it has to be HUGE again. Christina just doesn't have statistics on her side, even compared to 4.

I was thinking ADELE, but then I don't think she's stupid enough to piss off retail, especially with how much 21 sold physically. With that said, I think a surprise release would be a perfect way to combat the hype and eventual disappointment of a sophomore slump (I know 21 was technically her sophomore album but you know what I mean).

The fact that this has been done before means that the impact won't be the same, no matter who they get to do it. The rumor also states that there are potentially multiple of these types of deals in the works.

I think now they're they're just going to prove that this is something the "average pop star" can do as well.

You know...if Aphrodite is your thing then that's totally cool! I dig that album too of course B-) Make sure you are listening to the high quality shit and not the guardian stream. That stream crushed a lot of the more complex songs.

I mean when you get to a level of catalogue like Kylie it's just an ocean of goodness.

The last time I listened to it was the Guardian stream. I really do have to give it a proper listen. To be honest I've never once really used ALL of Kylie's songs, but the highs on all of her albums have been really high for me.

I just worry that her moving over from her long-time manager has affected her output. This album (ON FIRST LISTEN) just seemed so devoid of soul but I will give it another go. I still play Les Sex quite regularly.

She already said that most of the tour is a celebration of all her albums and that a lot of the art stuff is taking a back seat for her tour.

And she's also made it quite clear (and I don't know WHY people keep dwelling on it) that the performance was especially for SXSW. :|
