I'm curious what with the launch not far away, The popularity of the first title, and the wave of unpleasant real world news this week.

Part of the motivation behind this thread is from seeing the....purpler sides of the argument arguing for a ban (ANOTHER ONE LMAO) on Yotei because of the Kirk madness. No, they aren't discussing banning it because the dev said something hateful, they're discussing boycotting because the dev got fired, go figure.

So what's GAF's pulse on this one?

I sold my PS5 some time ago and planning to never look back, the only decent game as of late was Astro Bot, the rest im not interested at all, they lost their edge

Will get on sale. They got too lazy and made an identikit game with same graphics. Its worth as much effort as they put in like $49.99CAD max after tax (more than $100CAD here after tax)

I think it'll be fine. I would play it on sale eventually. Not hyped at all about it but a big budget hack and slash is enjoyable for a little while. 20 hours and I'd probably bail. Looks like a solid 7 or 8 out of 10 to me. But most people will rate it higher than that.

I voted not interested. As much as current events don't motivate me to buy, I'd be lying if I said I was ever going to before all this, either. Never played Tsushima, and were I to start, it'd be there.

I'll probably pick it up when it's cheaper next year or so.

Looks decently fun, but there's so many other titles coming out that look better, plus my backlog.

I was already not buying it because surface level woke decisions are usually indicative of a deeper rot, and that turned out to be the case here. The game being shunned from left and right would be great if not for the reason that led to it.

It's going to be interesting how the reviews play out now that reviewers will be torn between promoting a woke game and punishing the company for not backing the developer.

This game is aggressively uninteresting to me on every level. I can't imagine a more boring combination than Ubisoft open world template, Sony's annoying "cinematic" soap opera drivel and the setting. Don't get me wrong, it has great art direction and I love samurai flicks but after decades of gaming I'm just bored of medieval, or whatever it would be called, Japan.

Not interested, seems like garbage Ubisoft slop, has the same dumb boring premise as the terrible AC Shadows, and it does not even have next gen graphics to make it ok.

Huge pass

Had so much fun with the first don't even need to see anything on this one, second it was announced I pre ordered

Yeah, but you're also the retard who said Charlie Kirk deserved what he got because "you preach hate you get hate". So your opinion is shit.

On topic: I wasn't going to get this even before the recent events.

I was going to buy it day 1, I loved GOT to be honest. I know, it was repetitive and the side content was not great but I really liked the combat and the art style. The gameplay really clicked for me.

But after what has happened with one of the developers mocking Charlie Kirk's death and the company not apologizing to the public and Sony not even acknowledging the situation I am not going to support them.

I'll skip it. Sucker Punch has made no statement where they show that they don't condone what the the dev said so I won't support them. Who knows what rot that studio has behind closed doors.

All of this + it's yet another western "Strong Female Protagonist" game on top of it. I looks like a quality game but there's literally nothing that makes me want to play it.

The gameplay loop, music and art style are my jam. If the story is good, that's a plus. Will not buy day one only if reviews are bad.

First one was really just ok. Considering their overall output, it actually might be Sucker Punch's weakest game. Regardless, I still trust them to deliver.

Also, it's not like Sony has anything else of note going on any time soon for their 5 year old system, so why not?

I played Ghost of Tsushima a month ago. By the end of it, I was already saturated with the game. And there doesn't seem to be enough new gameplay mechanics, to be worth going into this sequel.

Day one for me. I love most Sucker Punch games and Tsushima was great.

I am only pondering if I will get the digital or physical version.

Everything else is irrelevant to me.

Day 1. Politics don't affect whether i buy games or not. If Putin and mother Russia put out a banger of a game, I am probably still buying it

Not everybody on GAF is uncle Sam's citizen
As for me? I have no comments FR, first game's not intersted to me,and I usually keep silence before the truth

I liked Ghost of Tsushima, I'll play it at some point, but the game can wait. Nothing I've seen of it has blown me away.

Buying it on release because Sucker Punch did the right thing when they fired that POS developer.

Now they need to come out with a statement saying that they don't condone what he said.

Might get it on sale later on.
The first one was a 7/10 game for me, and it was largely carried by the cool setting and visuals and the fact it felt like the Assassin's Creed Japan we never got (at least back then).
This one just looks like more of the same, except the setting and style have lost their novelty factor.

Enjoyed my time with the first one. This seems more of the same, so no idea why I wouldn't like this one. Always waiting for reviews, though.

I wasn't keen on the first despite buying it day 1. Sadly SP has been a miss for me since the PS2. Very simple and repetitive gameplay loop for me which tire quickly. I always preferred their peers. What turned me off initially from Yotei was the lead "actress". That plus the first game had like 0 under 50 attractive lead women which was a letdown to me. Some people won't care about that but I do. I have so many great Japanese movies, manga and games with excellent female supporting leads and side characters that the absence was noticeable.

So yes I was already not going to buy the game but recent events turned me off of buying anything from them ever again. My game purchases have already been curtailed these past few years but now its under 10 for 2025. And I used to be a gargantuan spender in gaming, but that's since gone to other media.

If politics THAT matters, Black Myth:Wukong will be boycotted day one cuz goverment connections,But I don't think anybody on GAF really urged us not to buy it

Not interested and nothing to do with politics either.

The first one was amazing for the first few hours, but once again (like Days Gone before it), the wind was completely taken out of my sails by the time I had cleared the first island, and I became so immediately bored by the deathly dull formula at that stage that I switched it off and uninstalled it. At this point of my life playing games, anything open world that even remotely resembles the Ubisoft formula I am basically repelled by.

Elden Ring, which is absolutely massive, does not suffer these problems.

It's a shame, because the combat in Ghosts is genuinely excellent.
