Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

The European Blue one is sweeter, the Japanese one is too close to the Silver one.

Yes, but the price was great and I couldn't resist :D But i think it's not that close to the silver one.

here's a sweet deal for uk and euro gaffers:

i ordered one. i also just bought a brand new green micro today at a local gamestop here in switzerland for 50 swiss francs (~$50).

I'm amazed how good the screen is on the micro. So much better than I thought it would be!

The GBA has an afterburner fitted and the SP is standard. The micro's screen is on its lowest setting. You can see how much brighter it is!

A new one :)

Note: If someone wants to buy a red GBM like this one, I've got one to sell. PM me, please.

Man. I've been checking this thread since it first came out, and I still can't get my desire for one of these damn things to quit! Any of you hoarders out there want to let one go for around $35-40? I promise a loving home and lots of gaming to whatever system comes my way.

Welcome to a world of obsession. We are quite a lot who eventually gave in.

It's just so handy, and the library is full of classics. Too easy to grab it along wherever I go. The very definition of portable.

One of of these days you'll just get the 20th birthday version. There's no way out.

bit generations: Dotstream is back in stock at Play-Asia, in case any one is interested. I have spend way too much money on games in the last weeks, so I'm a bit hesitant, but I think I'll break down eventually...

i have mine in my pocket at work right now. Sacred Stones is in there.

not sure if i ever mentioned it before but ive been using an ipod sock as a case for one of my micros. it really works perfectly.

also, i tried to play a GBA game in my DS the other day while i was recharging the micro's batteries, and i just couldnt do it. it looked terrible after being so used to the sharpness of the micros screen.

best handheld ever. i just need more games. 30+ isnt enough!

anyone in the uk looking for a micro? there's a pretty hard to find ebay auction (thanks to a weird title) for a used but good condition silver micro with charger and box that will probably stay at £10 until it ends in 20 minutes! i don't need another one. send me a pm and i'll give you the link. i'm not gonna post it here or else the price will shoot up like crazy. remember, there's only 20 minutes left!

Jarosh, I think I love you.

I got it for £10 and the guy is like 10 minutes down the road from me so I'll go and fetch it tomorrow.

FANK JOO!

cool! i'm glad i could help someone out like that. i already have 3 micros and yet i was soooo close to getting it myself. haha.

it looks like it's in pretty good condition from the pic. hope it has no scratches on the screen or anything. now i feel kinda responsible. lol.

you should post here after you pick it up! i'm really curious about its condition.

yeah, i just barely talked jarosh out of buying it for himself. sure, micros rock, but we don't need 4 of them!

from the reflection in the photo of the auction it just looks like some older dude who has no clue how much the thing is worth or anything else about it! probably a gift to his kids/grandkids that never got used.

Damn, I was just looking for a GBM and you can't get them anywhere for a decent price. The shop where I usually order games sells them for around 100€...

I've been looking everywhere for a GBM, nobody sells them anymore and the offers on Ebay are just too expensive. :(
there's tons of cheap offers on ebay. do you live in germany? there's plenty of micros in pretty good condition on ebay germany for 40 - 50 eur. there's also two brand new sealed micros on ebay uk right now for 47 eur (including shipping)!

OR get one from ebay.com. for example: there's like 20 buy-it-now auctions going right now for new sealed famicom micros. including shipping (to europe) you can get one for $60 = 42 eur! and then get one of those dirt cheap hong kong micro chargers separately (you can find them for 1 eur). if you don't mind buying used and are willing to actually bid, you should even be able to find a micro in good condition for $30 - $40.

I would love to buy a famicom micro, but I'm somewhat unsure about those auctions from HongKong, considering I don't have made the best experience with it. :/

dude. i understand not buying games from hong kong... but what could possibly be wrong with a brand new micro? they can't pirate a micro. lol.

look at this one for example:

5400 feedback, 99.5% positive

hey and if you still don't want that, i gave you plenty more ideas of how to get a micro for <50 eur. you can also try amazon marketplace germany and uk. just trying to help. if you REALLY want one, you can absolutely get one online. there's plenty of options.

Ha, i ordered a Famicom edition a few days ago.. I was watching the price bounce up and down between £26 & £36 and cracked when it went back to £27.

Anyway, I have a question - are all the Micros made identically? I'm in the UK & I have a UK GBM charger, and was wondering if I could just use that on my Japanese Famicom GBM when that arrived..

My understanding was that the chargers all outputted the same amount of voltage to the GBM & that it was the amount of voltage going in to them that was the big issue with getting step-down adaptors.. I've read a lot of forum posts elsewhere on the net saying that its ok to use UK chargers with Japanese DS/lites, but I was wondering if the same applied specifically to the GB Micro!

Thanks for any info!

shouldn't be a problem. i have a japanese, a swiss and a uk micro and i've been charging all of them with the same european charger forever.

Anywhere in EU has this in stock and sells overseas for cheap?

50 bucks on Play Asia? Where's my coupon? GBA Micro, HERE I COME!

Let me go through this thread and find games to buy with it.:D

Do GBA SP adapters work with GB Micros?

Would this work: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-18-49-en-70-2lu.html
absolutely not. that one's for the gba sp and the ds fat only. the gb micro has its own charger and so does the ds lite.

play-asia doesn't seem to have a gbm charger atm. you can get a new one from ebay for 1 eur though. i'd look into that.

edit:
i was mistaken, 2.50 eur for a gbm charger:
http://cgi.ebay.de/Netzteil-AC-Adapter-Nintendo-Gameboy-Micro-NEU_W0QQitemZ310082371806QQ

it's the gba sp one you can get for 1 eur.

Best. Dpad. Ever

Just finished SMB3 and am going to play though SMW as Luigi now - Honestly, what an awesome handheld.

Sometimes I don't even play the GBM, I just sit there looking at it:

<3 <3 <3 The fact that I'm carrying around a portable SNES in something thats smaller than the original controller is mindblowing. I for one welcome our Nintendo overlords...

This thread is awesome, looking at all the Micro porn in here convinced me to get one myself! (European blue) It really is wonderful and since I own only 3 GBA games I have a great backlog.

Just a question though: Are the shoulderbuttons supposed to be so flimsy? I have to press them at a very precise spot for them to register.

Well, you have to press them on the inside (towards the center) not on the outer edges. It is different from a SNES controller for example, but works really well and I like them.

well, i guess it depends how you hold it.. I usually hold it so my finger tips are on the end of the buttons. i find them a bit clicky if anything.

Got my Micro today. It's in great condition, so I just need to find some games. :P

I think CEX is the only place on the high street in the UK selling GBA games now?

Just received my used Game Boy Micro from Amazon. The case is a wee bit scuffed in spots, but the screen is flawless. This little machine is a work of wonder, that's for sure. Lightweight, ergonomic (for my hands at least), and durable, with a bright, crisp screen. The d-pad and buttons are solid, and the whole package is just very pleasant to look at.

Having a DS has been awesome for long trips, but I rarely bring it with me when doing everyday activities. The Micro, though... I can easily see myself keeping this baby close at all times.

I need to buy some new faceplates, though, because the one that came with my order is very scratched and pretty ugly to boot. Anyone know if regular brick and mortars sell 'em? I'd just like a simple silver or black plate, and I'd rather pick one up for five bucks at the store than order one straight from Nintendo.
