Game Boy Micro <3 Thread

My only problem: the last hand held games I could sit through were the DS Castlevanias. The GBA library just might be too old school for me.
The small screen of the Micro really minimizes any graphical shortcomings, games look far sharper and less pixelly on it than on a GBA SP or DS screen.

And good news for you, Aria of Sorrow is much better than all the DS Castlevanias!
And maybe even SotN!

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Some Famicom Micros that I see have a '20th Anniversary' seal on the back and some don't. What's the deal?
Japanese Famicom Micros have the 20th Anniversary seal.

US ones do not.

The Japanese ones also come with a cooler box.

Crap. I really dig that seal on the back. The sealed Famicom I bought from eBay comes tomorrow, but US/JP wasn't specified. Most likely US, but here's hoping!

If you have a link to the auction maybe that could help determine what kind it is.

No pictures on the auction, unfortunately. But don't worry, this thread will be seeing it in all its glory tomorrow :D

Besides the standard micros, the rare ones I have are the Famicom, Green, Pokepark and FFIV.

Wow I am impressed at the number of people wanting one in these last few days. Where were you guys all this time?Anyway, it is always great to see the GBM getting more love. I need to take some pictures of the famicom controller 2 faceplate that I just got from a fellow J-GAFer ^^

i'll pay $40 if anyone wants to sell one w/ a charger, granted it doesn't have one of the lamer faceplates :\ send a PM if you're interested :D

lol, no joke. The black US micro came with silver (not too bad), camo (hrm), and some wonky orange design (lame) faceplates. Is there any site that lists/shows all the various official faceplates?

i saw one on eBay that had some hideous blue vortex pattern... it's what prompted the disclaimer :lol

So beautiful. But so expensive ; _ ;

I've got a problem. I already own a used, black Game Boy Micro. I love the system, but I've always wanted a new one or a backup. Well I saw a new, sealed one on eBay for $90, with $15 shipping from Canada. I made an offer of $75, which I thought was totally low-balling it (bringing the total with shipping to $90 and effectively making the shipping free). I didn't expect the seller to accept it, and I guess I only slightly wanted them to.

Well they accepted the offer. Should I keep it? If I sell my old one (no box, third party AC adapter, and a third party case), which is in good condition but with some blemishes, can I get, like $50?

$50 is a bit steep. I've seen them (Unit + charger, no original box) for like 35-40 lately. If it's in mint condition I'd consider buying it from you. PM me.

Trust me when I say that isn't even close to being half as much portables as I own. I had to take these out of storage in order to take a picture of my rare Micros and basically non-existent in the U.S models.

It reminds me of all the different gameboy systems they have on display at the nintendo store in NY.

Im curious, how can you even tell whether the system is brand new sealed? It's not like there is a official nintendo sticker that is broken when you open the box. You can just play with it, clean it and put it in the box and say it is sealed and sell it for 100+
I dont see the point.

My turn to add to the Micro sex in this thread :)

Kinda disappointed in the lack of goodies in the box like the Japanese version, but this little thing is awesome!

Most systems come with at least the clear, round stickers over the openings. I guess those could be faked, but I'll probably be able to tell. If it's not new and sealed, I would probably complain to the seller.

Oh, I believe you... I've seen your pick-ups in the past. That was just me being a tad jealous.

I had one of these a while ago... loved it. If I hadn't absolutely destroyed every classic SNES game I had for it multiple times, I'd still have one.

The question is, what determines the color of the lights in the start and select buttons? I've noticed that sometimes they're red, and sometimes they're blue. Is it model by model? Or random? Those little lights were one of my favorite "luxury" twists on that system...

Theres nothing special about those lights :lol

Blue means the Micro is charging, Red means that the Micro is low on battery power.

This thread always makes me fall back in love with my micro...

alas...I sold mine a few months back but between this thread gaining steam in the last week and the pickup thread...
I had to...$30 shipped off eBay with Mario Kart.

now to get back to my rockman zero craze

Hah!

Guess I totally forgot what they meant!

I should... I should buy another one, right?

I just noticed the Pikachu in the right corner.
Would have been gorgeous without it.

You mean like this?

Just a 20th Anniversary Edition with a black faceplate. :D

And yes, I own the official JP release of Mother 3 as well.

I have a chance to buy a Famicon version at a local market here. But I don't want to use my old GBA carts since I found out they are all pirated ROMs (didn't know legal from otherwise, back then). So. Is there a place where I can buy _legal_ GBA carts of the good games at a sane price? I am guessing 'no'.

EDIT: Forgot to mention: online only. I am not in the US
