Looking at the GBA micro centre section and the 360. I think someone has stolen someone's ideas!!!!

That was so stupid I think you gave me cancer.

I just don't understand why everyone is hating on Nintendo for this. Of course coming from a consumer stand point it sucks, but I can guarantee if ANYONE here were at the top at Nintendo and they knew doing something like this would equal lots of $$$ they'd do it without hesitation. The fact is 90% of the people here who say they won't buy it will. Maybe not at launch but I bet within a year or so.

It's really no worse than Apple with the ipod and all of its variations (touch, mini, photo). And this costs far less.

Dude, the only thing that is supposed to matter is the consumer stand point. It should also be the main point of anyone not being the guy having his pocket full at Nintendo.
There's business that is fair and there's business that is legal but dirty and not honorable. Business should learn to be honorable.
I'm also buying a DS friday for the simple reason that there's at the very least 4 games coming that will be an instant buy for me. But none of my pennies will go to Nintendo for the DS itself, i'm buying it from someone else. I'm glad i'm not in your 90% of people here.

Nintendo will make a killing with Micro and the faceplates will add to their profit. Nintendo is brilliant make a old system new again what a concept.

Yeah I really want to know if it plays GB/GBC games too. Since I have about 40 GB/GBC games and no backlit portable to play them on. (Other than Gamecube + GB Player + LCD Screen, but thats not exactly handheld) I was considering finally getting an SP before Micro was announced, so now I have to wait again...

Seriously, why would anyone think it played old GB games? The GBA shrinks old games so it can fit its resolution, and the screen is way too small already. Not to mention using the L/R stretching would be too unbearable to leave it there.

I know this is going to cost more than the GBA SP... but please, Nintendo, make this $50.
My guess is that SP will drop to $50-60 and Micro will take it's place at $80. DS will hopefully see a drop too, $130 would be nice.

Why the hell did Nintendo drop the Advance name if it ONLY plays GBA games?

-_-

In any wallmart, or best buy, the only kinds of gameboy games your going to find are GBAs. Solves the marketing crisis.

Yup, I'd say a $130 DS by Christmas is definitely possible, even probable.

Still, it needs a screen protector.
better not be more than 50$
39.99 would be the limit I would pay for something like that, but I doubt I would get one anyway.
It has to be cheap. HAS TO BE
I really don't see this as sexy, it just looks... cheap.
at that price i would probably buy one too.

29.99 is the sweet spot though for it.

Yeah, reviving old threads, but I still love my micro. I was just wondering if anyone was interested in the packaging that it came in over here.

Just for records' sake, the Micro was released here in 5 colours, each which came with its own coloured faceplate, plus one extra (and a cloth bag): Black (+blue), silver (plus black), Red (+fuschia), Blue (+silver?), Fushcia (+?).

Is this the same deal as the Japanese release? What were their packages like? (non-famicro). This packaging is very Apple reminiscent, with simple, but elegant photos of the micro, and one side the colour of the system you're getting. On one end, it describes teh faceplate colours you're getting.

I'm pretty sure that reviving old friends without any real news to speak of is what killed Jesus.
Jesus: Arise, Lazarus!
Lazarus: Hey Jesus, what's happening?
Jesus: Nothing...
Lazarus: What the shit did you wake me for, then? *stabs Jesus*

Damn, the Euro GBm packaging is iPod-esque indeed. I think NoA was going for that, but dropped the ball very badly. :(
Indeed, I think NoA wanted to put extra emphasis on the faceplates through the packaging and that's what ended up hurting the packaging overall.

Yeah, the US packaging was nice, except for the painful faceplates that came with every micro (though you guys did get TWO extra). The strange thing is why the euro packaging needed to be so large! I mean, the SP box is less than half the size of the Micro box...given, the NZ adaptor is a monster compared to the slick Japanese one (complete with fold up pins - at least for the DS). Is the US adaptor also fold up? Of course, none compare to the leviathan that is the British adaptor.

Does anyone even use the extra faceplates, because they like them?
At least we got the overall same micro colour, plus one pretty cool colour. Speaking of which, you guys spell "colour" funny.

Also, personally, I thought the faceplate mechanism would've been a simple clip-in type job - nice to see an actual locking mechanism to hold it in.

Lastly, I love my micro. It cannot be spoken of enough.

aaah, the black one. is this one out in USA? I thought the black Micro is only released in Japan but this packaging looks a lot like USA or Europe. But in Germany we only got silver, green and pink.

Scrow is a "convict", hehe.

You can buy it here.

In Belgium I think we only got Silver and Pink, but it could just have been that all the other colors were sold out, I don't know.

it came with a blue faceplate as well. I really want to buy a silver and red faceplate. i think they'd look like teh new hotness on my black micro ^_^

It's all about the Famicom Micro. The only reason I would get the others would be for the sake of not feeling paranoid on the bus and train.

No, it doesn't. Not with GameBoy games, at least.

I think what he mean was that playing GB games on the GBA uses only a portion of the screen (when not in stretch mode), so if the feature were on the micro, it'd be even more ridiculously small. I wouldn't go as far as to say that that is why it was removed, but it definitely would be tiny (I'd say it was removed due to cost, size, and actual use - remember, the original GBA essentially had a GBC colour processor, which it phyiscally swapped to when you put a GB or GBC game in - you can see the switch when you look in teh cart slot).

Also, retailers in Nz got silver and black, and the blue, red, purple/fuschia were retailer dependent - if I recall, EB got red, Warehouse (budget department store extraordinaire!) got the purple/fuschia, and the rest got blue.

Personally, I'm dying to get a glossy white faceplate for my silver micro.

Scrow: so -did you always have that photo or did you simulate my angle? It was definitely a real toss-up between black and silver for me - I finally decided to go silver to match my DS, SP, PB, and so on. Plus it looks great in metal. I like coloured things (and believe me the coloured GBmicros look REALLY good), but if you ever get bored of the colour, it can be a small issue. Although silver may be boring, it works out in the long run, since it's so classic. I love the faceplate idea - not normally a fan if such things, but it really suits the micro (and practical too).
