Game Informer May Cover Reveal: Final Fantasy XV

I think it's pretty clear that FFXV is gonna be several times larger than the FFVII project. It kind of falls in line with Tabata/Nomura in terms of how they design. Tabata is all about grandeur and spectacle (which is honestly something that has always been a key value of mainline games). Nomura has never really cared for grandeur as far as I remember.

Like when people asked if FFVII-R was going to be open world, Nomura seemed to not care about that and focused on making sure that each environment was well realized. This connects all the back to KH where it's not so much about one giant world but many little contained hubs. And (I may be totally misremembering) wasn't the original versus xiii concept also hub based?

With this in mind, it totally makes sense that FFXV is a game gunning for a much larger scope now.

I hope SE can have two major FF teams competing with each other, something like CoD but in a better way. This is the only way we can have FFXVI this gen.
I am sure Toriyama or Ito is working on the next FF. They were absent from the Uncovered Event. Kagari can confirm, I think.

I just imagine each disk of 7R would be like 40 hours each, and they want to flesh out the ultimate 7 world they possibly can and spare no detail.

I completely understand it being in 3 parts. Some people call it milking but really?

You would pay 240$ for 4 uncharted games that last 8-12 hours each, but when 1 Part of 7R lasts 40 hours "it's milking, it's a ripoff" please.

Yup, that would be so good. Imagine FFXV is a success and they get into the groove of HD development with alternating teams releasing a mainline title every 1-2 years :>

Next year by this time, Tabata will have replaced Nomura as the director.

I thought I would buy a digital sub, as it said it was also avaliable outside the US.

At checkout, I get this message:

Oops. We'be encountered a problem processing your order.

So, apparently it's not avaliable to the UK, despite stating otherwise. :(

Nomura does seem to like some spectacle from time to time, but it's true that trailers for XV after Nomura's departure were a lot more action-y. While I'm starting to warm up to Tabata's XV, I still miss the melancholy that was so prevalent in the Nomura directed trailers.

Also, Kingsglaive has existed from 2013. I'm not so sure if the story stayed the same until 2014/2015 like we believed since it had to be before that.

Putting all the infos together as fast as possible, will post here and then if it's not missing anything will make a thread out of it.
Spoiler friendly of course.

I'm sure there will be a lot of that melancholy in KH3.

Nomura should just stick with Kingdom Hearts from now on. Final Fantasy needs to keep bringing in new blood with new ideas.

Notice on the mini map there's a grayed out area to the right. Land that is yet to be explored or unreachable area?
So the part about Summons doing different moves each time means Ramuh can throw his Lightning spear like in the trailer while Titan can pound the ground or throw a boulder.

Also the FFXV Twitter posted on message on behalf of Tabata that they are looking into doing more CE for people that missed out... And that they will punish scalpers whatever that means.

One other thing, I'm sure this isnt surprising by any means but FFXV will directly reference events from Kingsglaive so it appears it ties ibto the game in a major way. Its not just some random side stuff

I still want to know what the specifics behind Nomura's departure were.

Small details like this one point to Nomura's departure from the game being a little less...dramatic than we thought.

He's also getting to work on FFVII Remake, so I guess that's cool.

Just cancelling the orders for people who ordered a bunch or retroactively limiting it to one per person could cause a significant amount of trouble for them. I've heard that when scalpers start selling preorders on ebay for inflated prices before they actually receive the items and then they have to start refunding the orders because they only have one unit, that actually could count as a strike against their ebay/paypal account. I'm not sure if that's true, but either way it could cause a headache.

So, I wonder when Versus Regis appears in the game if at all? Because that guy is clearly Versus Regis.

Does he age so much in such a short time because of the crystal?

He moved on.

As much as people like to paint it as a conspiracy theory, when you have to work on the next major entry of a series that you gave birth to, and also get a chance to direct the best selling and most popular FF remake, you will also move on.

Really, if things really were as undramatic as they seem to be now I just don't get why didn't handle his departure in a more graceful way. Some clear messaging would have done a whole lot to alleviate people's fears back then
