Also just GIF'd the Titan part:

That rump!

Really, if things really were as undramatic as they seem to be now I just don't get why did handle his departure in a more graceful way. Some clear messaging would have done a whole lot to alleviate people's fears back then
FFXV was a vaporware joke when it was revealed that Nomura is no longer a director and this only fueled the conspiracy theories.

There was no need to clear anything here. They confirmed Tabata is the full time director and that's all what was needed to be said. Nomura has his own series (KH) to worry about and then he took charge of the FFVII Remake project. If SE had something against him, do you think they would have given him the charge of one of their most important project in history?

So the part about Summons doing different moves each time means Ramuh can throw his Lightning spear like in the trailer while Titan can pound the ground or throw a boulder.
Also reminds me a lot of how summons in FFIII had different abilities depending whether you summon them as an Evoker or Summoner. Tabata did say he found inspiration in FFIII-FFVI for FFXV.

XII is the forgotten child of post VII-era FF.
It was a step in the right direction from FFX, exploration-wise, even though FFXIII was a major step back. That's why, with FFXV, how ambitious the world is, whether Square likes it or not, they are setting a bar. You can't go back to hallways after this. The next FF(FFXVI) has to continue this "grand world" concept.

Tabata state that
There will be a centralized foe. Not an assortment of villians as the "main enemy". Think of it like Sephiroth there will be a singular major villian

Well, even apart from Sephiroth FFVII had a very large cast of villains, in fact it probably had more major villains than FFVI, FFVIII, FFX, etc.

Yeah, I still don't think it was all that amicably done, since Nomura's name and involvement has essentially just been gone from the picture since late 2014. He hasn't commented on it at all, about the transition to Tabata directing, changes being made to the story, or anything. Evan fucking Sakaguchi has been more involved in promoting the game. If Nomura just said something about how he had faith in Tabata to carry the game to completion, I think that would have made a lot of people, myself included, feel better about the changes.

Instead, we got "It was a company decision. I can't say more than that."

Really doesn't inspire confidence, lol.

Should be everything, let me know if something is missing if not i'll make the info thread :)

-You can make branching decisions. Similar to older FFs dialogue choices;

-The game have magic synthesis to create new spells;

-There will be a growth system where you can spend ability points on weapon skills, Noctis, the party, bonuses etc. ;

-GI says there's a instrumental version of this in the game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO8kTRv4l3o;

-Four quest types: for fun (fishing/chocobo race), main story, monster hunts and regional quests. Currently over 200 quests and they're working on more;

-Tabata: "We have no intention to create sequels out of this";

-Weapon types includes: swords, daggers, lances, firearms, shields, royal arms, spells, and something called "machines" which weren't revealed yet;

-The trunk of the Regalia acts as party storage;

-Each party member has their own "special talent" that improves with use. One example given is Prompto will ask the crew to take pit stops with the car where everyone gets out, goes to a spot and he takes photographs. You can then share these photo's on social media. The more you do it the better his pictures will be. These are in the game for both character development and will have real consequences for the game. Prompto is photography, Noctis is fishing, Ignis is cooking, and Gladiolus is survival instincts;

-When you call a summon
they won't always do the same thing. They are entities that exist in the world itself. So depending on the situation they will do different things. Examples given Titan sometimes will run up and melee hit an enemy, sometimes he will throw boulders at the enemy and its possible he will even give up and leave the battle.
They will also act differently in a dungeon than they will in the overworld. Its a huge focus for the staff for Summons to feel exciting and a major event when they show up, not just some random monster that swoops in. They want a sense of awe with them;

-One of the screenshots has Ignis with a spear;

-GI has this to say, "FFXV isn't Witcher 3 or Dragon Age Inquisition in terms of your to-do list. That isn't necessarily bad because your quest log isn't bloated by insignificant or uninteresting tasks.....inspires a feeling similar to pre-PS2 Final Fantasies where there were huge overworld maps that made the setting seem authentic and enormous - even if you didn't find a quest every step.";

-You can improve and forge weapons from materials you collect;

-Kingsglaive has existed from 2013;

Story related info:

-The game has a Chapter 0 (Prlogue) but GI wasn't allowed to see it;

-So the game starts
with the car breaking down after the opening sequence. No Behemoth hunt.

-About Ardyn:
shows up fairly early it looks like. The crew tries to take the ferry to Altissia and he stops them telling them service is suspended. At this point they don't know of the invasion.

-Noctis and co.
find out about the invasion by reading a newspaper and then try and go back to the city but are blocked off by Niflheim forces.

-Kagari interpretation of the game's first chapter:
So the first chapter after the opening sequence seems to go something like this:

Noctis and friends are on their way to Altissia -> car breaks down outside Lucis in a town called Leide -> you meet up with Cid and Cidney at Hammerhead who agree to repair the car and Cidney sends you on some fetch quests (kill monsters) -> car is repaired, gang goes to deliver a package for Cidney -> package delivered to the black dog seen in the trailers, named Umbra -> flashback to Noctis and Luna childhood -> Noctis and co. set out to a coast town to catch a ferry to Altissia,meet up with Ardyn who says they're closed off for now -> sidequests -> party goes to hotel, reads about Lucis attack in the newspaper -> they get back in the car and head back to Lucis right away -> they fight through some Niflheim troops and eventually see what's happened on the horizon -> Cor calls and delivers the bad news -> chapter 1 ends.

-Tabata state that There will be a centralized foe. Not an assortment of villians as the "main enemy". Think of it like Sephiroth there will be a singular major villian;

-Luna
might have affection for Noctis, but Noctis is too complicated to care or unwilling to reciprocate it

-In regards to FFVII remake. Looking at the FFXIII saga as a model of release (three full-fledged games). Each game will be the size of a FFXIII game is specifically stated. In other words full scale 30+ hour RPG, and they also say plot wise nothing is off the table in terms of changes. They clarify they aren't changing everything but Kitase, Nomura, and Nojima feel since they were involved with the original game that they have the liberty to add / change what they want while still making fans happy. They also state they want FFVII Remake to gave a much shorter development cycle than FFXV.

Thanks for the info roundup.

Game has come a long way and i really looking forward to it .

As for FFVIIR i expect it to be bigger than FFXV when all the parts are done .
This of course when they upgrade everything to today standards .

The monster quest will most likely be like the Deadeye Behemoth hunt, since that was a confirmed sidequest.

I also found it kind of strange that they didn't at least show a video message from him during Uncovered. I can see why you would be interested in Sakaguchi's opinion, but Nobuo Uematsu telling the audience that he didn't write any music for FFXV was apparently more important than Nomura who is pretty much the reason why this project even exists.

I've had this feeling since Uncovered, but now reading that GI article, I really do think this has the potential to be the greatest game in the series. It feels like it's combining everything I loved about 7 with everything I loved about 12.

But at the time it all looked a whole lot more negative to Versus fans, and especially now that we have a better idea of when certain changes were made I really feel like they could have cleared things up back then to avoid these kind of conspiracy theories.

And still. Director or not why hasn't he been asked to draw any more artwork? Why didn't he get to give a message during the Uncovered event? Maybe it's nothing ,considering he's in charge of the FF7 project he's clearly not in a bad position at the company but it does seem like he doesn't want to or isn't allowed to work on FFXV in any capacity.

These "conspiracy theories" are of interest to a vanishingly small number of people when we're discussing a game that will sell at least several million copies, and honestly fans shouldn't expect that they are entitled to insight into corporate decision-making at this level. This isn't about the game's development; this is information about the careers of individuals, obviously sensitive information.

It could be that the project was stuck in early production due to circumstances outside Nomura's control, or it could be his fault entirely. Even if it was his fault, that doesn't mean that they would ouster Nomura or "hold it against him;" he may have just been the wrong man for the project.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter. Tabata took over the project and the game is getting made. Fans who were interested in the purity of Nomura's vision have the choice whether to buy it or not.

I have to say the story of FFXV has me gripped. Maybe its because of my attachment to Versus but I love the cast, setting and lore.

I just read this feature. Hit pretty much all the right notes for me. Focus on characterization for protagonists and villains, big world to explore without being a wrpg checklist experience, the way they discuss the summons' role in the story, all of it. I feel like I'm young again, waiting for the release of FF7!

It is pretty clear to me that they want to cut any ties to Versus. So what would Nomura say in his speech? Please be excited for the Versus game that was a vaporware for majority of its production and is finally getting released? I doubt they would have liked him mentioning or referring Versus, if at all. Now SE isn't going to show another director that is working on a FF in active development appear on screen and praise Tabata's work, and you can bet a lot of people would have picked the video and said that it looks like an artificial message and lame damage control.

I really hope all the general story stuff so far is "Act 1" material and there is a huge shift in focus halfway through the game that turns everything in a completely different direction.

Lots of (most?) mainline FF games do this to some extent and I love it.

Don't know about the change in the plot like you say, but yes, we only know story details from the first part of the game. The most late part we know is the Leviathan event, that sounds like mid-game material.

At the time those fans were focused on quite a bit to be fair, the active time reports were pretty much aimed at them. It wasn't until the Uncovered event (outside of the E3 reveal of course) that they've been marketing towards a mass market audience again.

I don't necessarily disagree with you mind you. I just find this stuff to be interesting. The game is shaping up well AND we've got FF7 to look forward to. I'm happy.

Well that's the issue isn't it? It's pretty much impossible to cut any ties to Versus.

Don't know about your assessment on how people would react to such a video. I think people would have been appreciative of one. Maybe not.

Is there any word on purchaseable animals or the in-game economy? I want the option to buy expensive items like that 300,000 gil beach house in FF7. If
Carbuncle
is in the game then he/she needs to walk around normally as it's a fox. This game is shaping up to be a great addition to the FF lore and take away the bad taste in my mouth after certain games in the series I won't mention.

The Heart of Good instrumental makes me curious as to what extent western music is featured in the game.

I want them to takle something recent and rock, it kinda fits the young characters.

Can't wait for Noctis to put Nirvana on highest volume in the car when they tell him daddy dies.

He only has eyes for Gladio.
Magic, red Sasuke eyes.

He's basically Sasuke put into different clothing visually

From an important family
that dies

Girl likes him but he doesn't give a shit.

Damnit, SQEX!

I believe Noctis will be a dope protagonist though it's all good

There's that, sure, but the fact they got a cover of Stand By Me for the theme and specifically got the instrumental for Heart of Gold seeds potential for them to do some interesting things with specific pieces of music in the game itself.

Just adds another interesting layer onto "fantasy based on reality".

I'm thinking "In The End" might work better.
