I love the fact the production values are rising so much, hopefully people keep buying the blu-rays, subscribe to HBO, HBO Go so they realize they can spend the extra cash to make it good.

Oh man, the Blu-Ray for this season is going to be a treat. Not that the others aren't gorgeous, but watching Season 3 is like watching a movie, it looks so good.

I've got this collector's edition for Season 1:

Just holding out and hoping one materialises for Season 2.

i envisioned the unsullied as 300-style spartans since they seemed to be described very similar in the books. these dudes are scrawny in comparison. but the helmets look dope.

The Spartans werent really that tall or buff either. IIRC they were also about 5'7 and an average corresponding weight. Just SUPER physically fit.

I think most people have an erroneous image of what a physically fit soldier would look like before the advent of modern sports medicine and dieting. The most important thing back then, specially for light troops like the unsullied, would be a nimble and fast body that could easily outmaneuver their armoured enemies. They carry spears and short swords, not battle axes and claymores. Even modern elite troops that put emphasis in movement like the French and Spanish legions don't look particularly buff.

They are totally fine.

We are talking about 2300+ years ago though. When nutrition and training wasn't the first thing on people's minds. The Spartans and ancient greeks were physical education fanatics. I think Spartan boys and men would only eat, sleep, and train until they were agile, fit, mastered fighting etc.

But I'd disagree with you, if it's one thing about the Greeks, they were personally obsessed with aesthetics and body shape. Hell they knew about six packs, lats, biceps, obliques before anyone else.

I think the reason is, they trained so much, only the really gifted, the ones blessed with good genetics and body strength were able to keep up with the rigorous training.

Exactly. Built more like distance runners rather than sprinters.

I kind of hope Grey Worm gets plenty of screne and fight time. You know when an army of trained killer all pic one guy to lead, he's a fucking badass.

And kept his slave name because that was also the name he had when he was freed by Danny.

Yeah, I want to see Grey Worm fucking shit up.

I always love the scenes between Cersei and Tyrion . They hate each other but at the same time does the similar relationship to their father really connect them.

I finally was able to watch the latest episode, and I was quite satisfied with it. I especially liked how they introduced Shireen. I really enjoyed her interactions with the Onion Knight! In fact, the high point of the episode was how well they portrayed her room as a prison - dark, secluded, and with only her inside of it. The contrast between child and environment could not be starker. She is amazingly kind and resourceful for someone who has grown up alone and with an insane mother.

Do you think she was insane before The Red Woman? They made her sound very sickly and ill before (but not crazy) and I wonder if she is just getting swept up in this mess?

I think I'm most interested in where Stannis goes. I keep think TRW is leading him on. the lord of Light doesn't see Stannis as any kind of champion but what then is her ultimate goal. Stannis and his army are in shambles and I keep hoping he says 'fuck it!' and just goes off and does something epic on his one will.

she put her stillborn babies in jars, so yeah I think she was already pretty unstable before Melisandre came along

You know I totally glossed over those the first time I watched the scene. I didn't catch it until the second time for some reason and it feel like a prop from Aliens

I guess she would have to be. for some reason before that I thought she was just too weak of sick to bare a child.

A new haircut. A painting on a wall. I feel like those are things that are understandable to gloss over. But dead baby jars!?

lol I mean it, I don't how I missed it. I was busy watching his wife to see what was going on with her. I honestly didn't expect to see her. It's so much worse because I don't how they could have made them more noticable. Blacklit, bright green dead baby jars.

Yeah, agreed. The very end of the bathtub scene, I was immediately transported to my high school auditorium. I half-expected the lights to come down and before the cut.

yeah if someone put in an audience cheering at the end it'd be perfect haha

don't mean to take away from the scene which was quite powerful and was probably the best humanizing of a character the show has done to date, but that last part I just went "oy" internally heh

I really thought it was great, up until the part where he sort of fainted into Brienne's arms... that came off as really high school play-ish. Other than that, it was one of the best scenes in the show to date

I agree, but I let it slide because of Jaime's perfect delivery of the line, "By what right does the wolf judge the lion." If he had botched that, the ending scene could have been groan-worthy rather than just melodramatic. So even more kudos to the actor. I'm sure that'll be the scene they submit for Emmy considerations.

Would be putting it lightly.

Turn down the opportunity to add a substantial amount of troops to your army.

Enemy gets the army that was fighting against them.

Knowing this you chance losing half your army.

dumb, stupid, terrible, awful, laughable, 18 years old

.

Does anyone know the name of the team/head guy in charge of the fight choreography?

I've been insanely impressed with the editing and choreography of the fight scenes this season.

Here's most of it.

Here's the whole scene on YT. Remember to never read any comments. I didn't check if they have any spoilers.

I'm sure everyone cringed a bit when, as soon as Jaime finished his monologue about how his Kingslayer name is total bullshit and that he in fact saved countless lives, Brienne calls him Kingslayer again almost immediately afterwards. It was reflexive, obviously, but damn.

I love that Jorah is getting to let his masculine side out with Barristan.

Can't imagine home telling Dany about "almost pissing on the king's boots"

Aye, but they swore an oath.

"Trolls gather, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until the end of this series. I shall shy from no spoilers, nor hide my eyes, nor remain surprised. I shall deliver vengeance and hold no mercy. I shall live and die at my post. I am the sword in the darkness. I am the watcher of the thread. I am the shield that guards the realms of the unspoiled. I pledge my life and honor to the No Book Spoilers thread, for this season and all the seasons to come."
