You know, a couple thousand posts ago, it seemed like this thread was against a lot of the gratuitous sexuality/nudity and now people are trying to understand why the showrunners decided not to show some of the most unnecessary nudity (that being Dany in her Qarthian garb, or lack their of)?

If there was ever nudity from the books that didn't need to be on the show, it would be Dany walking around bare breasted for half a season.

There is no inconsistency.

It's different posters.

I didn't like the nudity a couple thousand posts ago. I still don't. The people who are talking about it now are the same people who liked it a couple thousand posts ago.

Well, saying they wish the show was canceled after season 1 isn't much different I suppose.

My tradition, for the last 7 years, is to read the book series as soon as it starts snowing where I live. I'm going to watch this show no matter what. I'm weak. :)

Hell yea I love me some Dany....the rest of it can be taken out....just give me some more of that Targ nudity.

I'm still bummed on that ending. I was looking forward to HOTU and they fucked it up
They blew their load on the banks of the Blackwater.

Probably her new contract. No nudity and she has to appear in at least 90% of the episodes.

Edit: Irri was hotter

I read some interviews with the cast around the time season 2 started, and I remember they asked Emilia Clarke about whether she had noticed any reactions or feedback from the male fanbase. I think she said that she went online and read something disturbing/horrible, and that the experience scared her off from reading fan feedback in the future. Sounds like some creepy fans made any new scenes to uncomfortable.

Speaking of no nudity I'm pretty sure that Oona Chaplain used a body double. :(
Not cool man. Not cool.

I blame Plywood. :p

Managed to find the interview after a couple of minutes of searching. Here is the section I talked about:
Q. Game of Thrones contains a lot of adult content, what was your impression when you first read the scripts and discovered that the show would be like that?

Emilia: Yes definitely, but I think it’s very realistic, it’s very true to life. It doesn’t hide. It shows things as they are and it shows the kind of hardships that people have to go through and I think that is something that is incredibly important to see, especially in Dany. We had loads of discussions beforehand about the particulars, the marriage scenes for example and her first sexual encounter with Drogo. In the books there’s a slightly different edge to it but we wanted to show it in terms of the harsh reality that she has to come up against. As an actor you just have to go there, you just have to trust that that’s what you need to see from Dany in order to get to where she ends up. So yeah, it is raunchy and it’s racy and it’s got a lot of blood and guts and violence but that’s why people like it, that’s why it’s not Harry Potter, it’s not Lord of the Rings, it’s got some guts to it! That’s what I like about it as well.

Q. Is it not nerve racking though, to perform those types of scenes, particularly at this very early stage in your career?

Emilia: Hugely! Yeah! I was a young, inexperienced girl, not only with hardly any film experience but definitely no nudity-on-screen experience! So yeah it was petrifying but HBO were wonderful and they’ve got a huge amount of integrity to them and they kind of, were there for me and I knew that I was in safe hands. And Jason Momoa is incredible, and wicked, and lovely, and just made it really simple and really easy to do!

Q. When you do scenes like that is it awkward? Funny? Strange?

Emilia: Yeah because what you see as an audience, hopefully, is an element of truth and a representation of what it would be like in real life. As an actor, when you’re filming it, you’ve got an entire crew you know, you’re in a warehouse in Belfast on like, a Tuesday afternoon and so it’s a matter of you as the actor trying very hard to create your own bubble, your own world, to try and make it as realistic as possible.

Q. What’s been the reaction from the male fan base? Any strange fan mail, any marriage proposals?

Emilia: (laughs) There’s been no marriage proposals as of yet! What I try to do is, when I first got the job I found myself online and I saw something that wasn’t nice, it was very horrible so I vowed from then on to never look at any thing on the Internet, ever! From then on I kind of thought, the safest thing for me to do to keep my sanity, was to not look at anything at all. If someone says something lovely, or if there’s something really nice out there or if the fans are happy, which is first and foremost my aim, because when you’ve got your favourite character in your favourite book it’s such a special thing, and to have someone come along and kind of make that come to life in a way that you’re not happy with can be really horrible for you. So knowing that the fans are happy is wonderful but I never really have to go out and look for it, someone always ends up letting you know, and my mum will probably tell me if it’s bad!

You would almost think this was one of the worst fantasy shows ever created based on some of the comments on here, when in actuality it is probably the highest quality fantasy ever done on the small screen. I hate some of the changes they've made from the books, but good lord it's not that bad. It's still high quality, entertaining tv compared to the vast majority of garbage that passes for sci fi/fantasy television. I can certainly understand some of the complaints, but saying you wish it was cancelled or that you can't even stomach it anymore is just laughable.

I agree. Overall they are doing a fantastic job with the show given the scope of the source material, and its understandable that some plotlines have to be modified in order to fit the show. They left out some of my most memorable moments from aCoK like the peach and the antlermen, but I understand that they cannot cover everything given the limited time they have.

I've only just finished ACoK and I don't recall any Antlermen?

Ummm... they are giving us nudity when it isn't in the book and are not giving it to us when it is actually in the book. That is something to complain about.

Book spoilers for aCoK:
Throughout the book you hear about merchants in Kings Landing that planned to help Stannis take the city. Joffrey eventually finds them. During the Battle of Blackwater he strips them, nails antlers to their heads, and throw them over the wall towards Stannis' army with the catapults

We don't know for sure but why else would the perverts running the show change her appearance in Qarth from the book where she has one breast out the entire time? Because the extras didn't want to be nude? I'm sure they could've filled Qarth with a bunch of porn stars.

The writers said that would be too much nudity (lol) to show, and it might not be allowed based on some foreign market broadcast rights

This is essentially what I've been saying for the past few months now. This is a good show. It's not the same as the books, and no, it's not even close to as good as the books. It's still a good TV show.

Guys you know what the worst part about the finale was. Like the most disappointing thing. NO MORE JAQEN. The guy who played him was the bomb. Perfect.

They probably filmed it but had to cut it because in editing they realized that they didn't have enough Dany scenes. The audience was going to forget that she is the Mother of Dragons, so they had to replace it with a Dany scene remind us.

OK, just got to the season finale - how is Stannis back in his house (or whatever) and not captive at King's Landing?

If Varys is truly sending her to spy/help (lol) Dany there is basically a 100% chance they will create stupid reasons for her to be somewhere important every season.

Insanity.

I really hope they do that.
Then not only will we get to see Dany in 90% of the episodes, but she'll be with Ros! Most amazing idea ever.

Dany + Ros it's like a match made in heaven.
I assumed Varys wanted her to spy on Littlefinger, but I could see them sending her to Dany.

I hope not...

If they fulfill the
lesbian scene
I'm going to have to make a GRRM "me gusta" pic.

Never read the books, but I watched both seasons in 3 days :)

Awesome show, loved every bit of it.

One question though: Is everyone from Braavos a hardcore badass or what? Because I love these guys. Khal Drogo was cool too.

So I'm currently reading a dance with dragons and I just read the chapter where... (adwd)
Reek/Theon is talking with Roose Bolton, and Reek addresses him as 'my lord'. But then Roose corrects him and tells him to say M'lord instead, because saying 'my lord' gives away his high born roots.

It felt almost word for word from this season's scene between Arya and Tywin! Interesting that the writers stole that to use on completely different characters.

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
The lesbian scene shouldve been with Irri or Doreah, not Ros. Ros is not hot.

All three of them are well within my tastes, but Doreah was easily the best. Irri always bothered me with her annoying "it is known" and sour look on her face.

I'm rewatching season 1 with my sister and I'm curioius does Aryas direwolf come back?

Minor stuff no worries (but obviously answers this question, so don't highlight if you don't want to know)
It doesn't come back to her, but roams through the Riverlands and amasses a large wolf pack

After the episode aired many thought the same thing.
