GameInformer's July Issue Exclusive - Gun by Neversoft (& E3 coverage)

It'll be interesting to see how these guys handle a non-Tony Hawk & Spider-Man game for the first time since what, 1998? (Although Apocalypse was pretty nice back in the day). And supposedly, this should be a 360 title although no official announcement has been made.

Every time I see this game's title, I'm reminded of the 1990's Saturday Night Live skit with Charlton Heston where he keeps saying "Gun" in place of words like the Smurfs used to replace words with Smurf.

sweet, if it is as good as Red Dead Revolver I am so there.

Is that sarcasm..?

GI has been having some terrible cover stories lately. Although last month's (Gears of War) was awesome, everything else has been pretty meh. Batman, Fantastic Four, Snoop's stupid GTA ripoff, Condemned, etc etc.

After reading the preview (Mag came 2 days ago) I think the game sounds halfway decent. Xbox, PS2, GC, PSP, and X360 versions are planned at the moment. Neversoft says the game will take advantage of each system. So the X360 version better look heads and tails above other versions. The preview does have one close up character model X360 shot and you can see the detail improvement over the current gen versions. This game sounds like GTA meets the wild wild west.

I think there was a video of it at the ps3 presentation
That western was from Rockstar. Probably the San Diego studio (formerly known as Angel Studios) who did Red Dead Revolver.

I know you guys have alow opinion of Game Informer, but I think its one of the best game magazines circulating. Their reviews as with ANY review should be used just as a guide not a defintive answer to, "Is this game any good?"

Isn't Game Informer the mag that gave Paper Mario a low score based on some retarded reasoning? If so, Nintendo fan or not, then I wouldn't bother with em. Besides I would prefer EGM (if I read mags anymore) only cause I trust the authors there have more integrity.

Heh I just saw the game last night. Surprised that last night wasn't the world unveiling of the game and that Game Informer had the scoop. At any rate, wish I could say something on it but I'm under NDA till mid July.

Can you say :D or :(?

I'm not under NDA.....but I don't have the mag with me, either. :P

PS - I'm shocked at how well game informer gets their exclusives. I got this mag from the Gamestop deal and have been shocked with the in depth exclusives they seem to get before info hits the net.

Um,

1)Zelda - 3mil
2)Kingdom Hearts II - 2mil
204) Crappy western game - 300,000

kingdom hearts won't sell 2 mill in US, neither will zelda
gun has a good chance of selling ~1.5 million combined at least, it will be out on 4 platforms.

I agree. GI is the only mag worth subscribing to IMO. They get a good amount of stuff before it hits the web.

Wow, had no idea the game was set in the Wild West. And based on that information alone, I'm already interested. :D

Like I said you really should take ALL reviews with a grain of salt. Im sure EGM hasnt scored every game that you like with a score you agree with. EGM when they changed their format it just seemed liked they made it more colorful but less good content.

So you havent actually read the magazine? Well thru the power of the internet I have subscriptions both magazines and I anticipate getting Game Informer every month.

Yeah that cover art is messed up with the horse.

Marty, X360 version vs Xbox version can you give us a thumbs up or thumbs down in comparison? I'm hoping Neversoft is actually being truthful where they aren't treating the X360 version as a small speed bump upgrade.

Why is the horse giving an expression of death when he clearly wasn't shot?

Also, Activision + Neversoft makes me think they'll make a Game Boy COLOR version, too.

Blasphemy!!!

Spider-Man 2 I found to be pretty fun. I loved swinging around town. The first one blew hard though.

Yeah, Spidy 2 is one of my fav games of last year. The amount of fun i had swinging around NYC was ridiculous. Id ignore missions and just practice swinging, climbing, jumping.

Better than most games i played last year. Actually, easily top 5 of 2004

The horse has been shot. There's an arrow sticking out of his (or her) shoulder (or haunch?? whatever you call horse leg joints. I'm not that up on my horse anatomy.)

Gun's been done. It was called Red Dead Revolver, Rockstar published it, and it sucked.

I wonder whatever happened to the game Gunslinger. Activision showed it in their booth at E3 '01 or '02 (I forget).
