Several of these have little to no chance of releasing this year (DA4, Fable, Avowed), several of these aren't RPGs (BOTW2, Horizon), and they're missing the actual best RPG release of 2022 in Baldur's Gate 3.

No Granblue Fantasy Relink and Relayer!? But lets include Horizon which is not RPG, unless FarCry is now considered RPG.

What a trash list...

Can we just have another bitchin' thread about "what constitutes an RPG/jrpg"

Rnd 1: Fight-o!

Also, yeah.. Avowed, FFXVI, Fable, DAIV are not 2022 games..

Some chance of FFXVI this year. Game is done besides visual improvements. And they started reveal this spring. Good chance of fall release.

I can dream for now

Elex 2, rofl

Lists of 20 games always seem excessive to me, in a given yeah maybe only 2 or 3 games strike me as worthy of 'top' lists... this one has a pretty good spread of potential quality, i'll admit, but a lot of it is 'tbd'... i find it hard to believe dragon age 4 will come out this year lol

2022 could be one of the greatest years in terms of RPGs

Horizon Forbidden West
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Final Fantasy 16 (maybe)
Starfield
Lost Soul Aside (maybe)
Hogwarts Legacy
Little Devil Inside

The RPG genre is now becoming something similar like some music genres. Way too many side-genres or that it's all called the same.

At least it doesn't make some of these games any less exciting. I hope the weapons won't break in the new Zelda. Then I can finally play and enjoy it.

Horizon. LOL

And no, is not an action Rpg. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is an action rpg.

Horizon is an action open world, with just a skill tree, like many other games like God of War and I don't think you can call GoW an Action Rpg, and if you say otherwise sorry babe you are not able to recognize the different genres.

All the ones I'm interested in are TBA except for Forbidden West, Starfield and Elden Ring :(

They announced BG3 for 2022? Will be out of EA?

Pretty wierd to have Horizon FW but not GoW Ragnarök included tbh.

None of those are RPGs but I'd argue GoW is more RPG:ish than Horizon in some aspects.

So instead of putting stuff that is gonna release in 2022 like horizon 2 they put stuff like avowed and fable.

Gameranx, gamingbolt, gamespot, is it me or we have a pattern here?!

My kind of list here. I'm hoping I get some Euro rpg goodness and Elyx 2 comes to Gamepass for a bit to give it a try. Somehow their RPGs touch me.

Dying Light 2 I might get if my bro wants to coop. Starfield, of course. Elden Ring... fuggedaboudit.

rpg's are in a sad state atm

i feel like most of these games got shoved into this list bc they have rpg elements, but none of them look or feel like an rpg.

BG3 has been in early access for 15 months already at this point, it's chances of releasing this year are extremely high. DOS2 was in early access for one year, so considering COVID two years for BG3 makes sense.

RPG fans tend to have plenty of excellent new games to play each year, and it's looking like 2022 is going to be no different. In fact, the volume of RPGs set to come out in the coming twelve months is mouth-watering, with many major games set to launch in 2022 that should appeal to genre fans. Here, we're going to take a look at a few such games.

forspoken higher than FF16? oh fuck that

also there needs to be clearer division between RPG and Action/Adventure... Horizon definately falls under action/adventure..

and so many games have RPG elements in them that just that fact alone is not a reason to include them in top RPG lists.

I'm done with Guerrilla Games, I tried their Killzone games and original Horizon and liked none of it, I'm not gonna waste my money for another one.
I think they're hitting their stride I think Forbidden West will be very special
