yogaflame yogaflame Huh, I can now add Gloomwood to the list.

I booted it up first time after I bought it on sale.

Just to try it I said to myself and six hours has passed to me like 10 minutes 🙃.

It reminds me of Thief 1 and 2. A lot.

Football Manager.
Time well spent, though, since you learn how to manage a team.
You can use those skills in different aspects of life and even spruce up your C.V.

1st days of new releases up until 2011 did this for me (when I was a kid)

Simulation games were the main ones though: c&c3 and red alert, the sims (specifically 3), simcity (2000 and 2013), civ 5 (woke up late one morning to play and after some time I was done and it was turning night lol), and StarCraft 2. Loved these games and that sort of experience.

Wish I felt this way today 🥲

VR is a real time sink since you lose all visual connection to "reality" around you

I was playing Elite Dangerous in my Quest doing a bunch of smuggling missions. When I put the headset on it was a little after 9pm. When it took it off it was 2:30 am and it had felt like I played maybe 2 hours at most.

True. I'm polishing my resumé as we speak and have submitted an application to Manchester City, since I'm clearly a better coach than Guardiola!

Civilization 2. I would be playing late at night and "just 1 more turn" again and again and again and all of a sudden the sun is rising in the East. Like 4 to 5 hours blew by and it seemed like an hour and a half, happened several times. With that game more then any other for sure. X-Com and World of Warcraft as well.

TES
Fallout
OpenRCT 2
WoW when I still played it
Hitman
Cities Skylines
Balatro
Vampire Survivors
Thief

Basically (a mix of) immersive sim, RPG, tycoon/RTS and open world.

It can definitely happen to me with a good RPG; particularly one that's a bit more dungeon crawler-y. Once I get into that rhythm, I don't want to stop.

The absolute best is when I chuck my phone into a different room so I really have no distractions or anything to pull me out of the game. I'd highly recommend that.

Stuff like Civilization is famous for that ("just one more turn!"
This is so me on Civ 3. So many time I did "just one more turn" then 3 hours laters I was still there.

Same for any fighting games online. "One more fight and I am done", but there is always an excuse to do one more "Ha but this one was not a good fight" "I lost it but could have win let's do another" "I won but it was too easy" "My opponent was too strong no chance to win, let's do another"....

EDIT : also MGS2. As a teenage I did an extreme (european ? don't remember) run and I was at Fatman. After many tries I beat him but had to defuse a last bomb. The defuse take 5 seconds and I started at 4 seconds something... I lost and it was set : I will beat Fatman before sleeping ! After manies tries and rage I finally beat him then watch my window : the sun is coming up... Ho shit !

But honestly I think most of game can makes me lost the sense of time.

World of Warcraft. Grinding for Grand Marshal in Classic PVP. Not my most proudest gaming achievement lol. Took me months of hardcore play and playing Alterac Valley on repeat.

Was fun though and met a lot of good people and friends along the way.
