Games you remember, names you don't

I recall playing this back around 95/96.

Was a PC game for Win95, I recall the game spanning multiple CDs, might have been 3 CDs or more.
First person medieval RPG
Dragons were featured in it prominently
You could travelled in an open world environment
The combat system was like Elder Scrolls Oblivion/Skyrim IIRC.
The game was pretty early 3D.
Pretty sure it wasn't part of the Might and Magic.

Sorry I don't have any more information other than this.

Could be Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny, came on four discs.

Hmm....I watched a YouTube video of some of the gameplay, and while similar that isn't it. I don't recall the GUI being like that or the main character grunting or going "hmm" every five minutes.

From what I recall, you got outside pretty quick and were able to traverse fields and such, also I don't believe there were any party members as your character just went around solo.

Looking for a game on PS3. It was scifi and set in space. Definitely from Japan based on the aesthetics (aka it had the anime art style) It was full 3d though in the space battles.

I remember there being some kind of flight simish elements where you were piloting a ship and could shoot missiles.

Any help would be appreciated!

Couple possibilities I can think off:
Amulets & Armor
Menzoberranzan

Sure it wasn't on 360? There was Project Sylpheed on there.

Was it Drakkhen?

Or Daggerfall?

Okay, yesterday I started randomly thinking of this game that I watched some gameplay of years ago and now it's driving me mad trying to recall its name. Help me out Gaf.

So here are the details I remember...

- Fairly low budget adventure game. 3D character models.
- Probably a PC exclusive.
- Set during the 1920s, 30s, 40s. Around that time.
- Protagonist might have been a pilot. Pretty sure he was English.
- I think the love interest was Chinese or Japanese.

And that's all I've got to go on.

Lost Horizon would be my guess

Maybe someone can help me with this. I remember an old fighting game that I had on a demo cd way back.

It was in early 3d graphics and all I can remember is that the two selectable characters in the demo were some shirtless dude( bit fuzzy on that one) and some kind of monster that squated and then stood up with its arms in the air like it was hailing the sky or something. The monster was sort of dark green according to my very fuzzy memory.

Any ideas?

FX Fighter?

Set in medieval ages

Browser game (?), free

You run around fighting other people online outside and inside of a castle

Chaos, free-for-all pvp, with optional content

Your weapons have different colors and are clear/see through

I remember playing some PC game in the early 2000s maybe? It was an arena style FPS but characters were wizards or mages or some kind. You could create portals and things. Shoot fireballs and stuff.

I really don't remember much else, but it seemed like a lot of fun then. It might have been a dream even.

Hexen 2 had multiplayer, maybe that's it? Not sure though just a guess.

Ok, not a lot to go on, but here goes...

  • Adventure, point and click.
  • Early, first half of 90's.
  • DOS PC, possibly other systems.
  • I seem to remember some form of FMV-face early in the game in one of the first puzzles. I also remember one of the earlier puzzles involving running water.
  • Not Lucasarts, and not Myst. I *think* it has a short name.
  • You don't control a character (like Monkey Island), it's just a screen to click on puzzles (like Shadowgate).

Again, it's a long shot, but I remember me and a child-hood friend playing this a bunch.

Doesn't ring any bells, but it's not The Seventh Guest or The Eleventh Hour is it? What was the name if that lady who did quite a few p&c adventures in the 90s?

I'm super sleepy or else I'd go through this list and suggest stuff, but:

Return to Zork?

This one may stump a few.

Okay...so I played this game on my dad's work laptop many moons ago. Thinking 15+ years. Since it was on his work laptop, I'm thinking it was a pre-installed game.

As for the game:

It was a point and click type FPS. You would be in a part of the tunnel, then select "right, left, center" depended on where you wanted to go next. Don't think you had any weapons in view. You did use a "blaster" though.

Set in an (alien maybe?) tunnel system.

I remember most of the alien things where rather small. Kinda like facehugger type deals??

I remember the cave being of a dark brown/red clay color.

That's it...that's all I remember. The best clue to go off of it that it may have been a pre-installed game from 15-17 years ago.

If I saw a picture, I'd remember it.

Off the top of my head the only sci fi Dungeon Master style game I can think of is Captive, but the enemies certainly didn't qualify as mostly small. But have a look

Nope, that's not it.

I remember very minimal "information" on the screen. Maybe just some player info along the bottom. Not 100% sure though.

I'm positive it took place in a cave that seemed natural though. Either no or minimal "man made" materials throughout.

Okay, I have two games whose names have been lost to time.

The first game came on one of those shareware demo discs that you got 50 shareware game demos for $5. Here's what I remember about it:

  • Early to mid 90's
  • Quest for Glory/King's Quest graphical style
  • Medieval setting
  • I want to say the theme was King Arthur/Knights of the Round Table or Robin Hood?
  • Demo took place in a forest. You played as a man.
For a long time I suspected it may have been King's Quest V but it doesn't seem quite right. Any ideas?

And the second game whose name I can't find came preinstalled on Micron PCs in the early to mid 90's.

It was a terrible scifi racing game. Gameplay style was similar to Outrun (but not graphically similar, just in gameplay). You raced spaceships down a track with lots of holes and obstacles.

I'm looking for a PC (action?) strategy game that was released either in the late 90s or early 2000s, screenwise it looks a lot like Feep's recently released game There came an echo, from what I can remember it was about a special team that either breaks into places or saves those buildings, I think you'd see the screen from outside the building with the roofs removed. Also kinda like Commandos but in the (near) future the boxart for the game was very blue and came into those big carton boxes that were used then

Creature Shock?. There's also a demo that has a different level.

I vaguely remember a DOS game that I have no idea the name of.

All I recall is a segment in which the player is moving the character left and right to avoid some sort of worm or larvae falling from the ceiling. The graphics reminded me of Star Trek: 25th Anniversary because it was the only game I had much experience with at the time, but I suppose it may have been a point and click adventure game. This would have been in the early 90s.

It's bugged me for years, but I figured it's too vague a description because I was very young at the time, but this thread seems to have been surprisingly accurate for others

Possibly a bit too famous to be forgotten, but it wasn't Another World, was it?

Could be the Conquests games; Conquests of Camelot would fit King Arthur, Conquests of the Longbow would be Robin Hood.

Skyroads is the usual culprit for that sort of description (but is in no way 'terrible'!). Also possible: Hi-Octane, Megarace, Motorhead, Pod.

Was it by any chance Alien Logic? That's the only game I can think of at the moment which is a scifi adventure/RPG with sidescrolling gameplay and graphics in that style.

This one game just started bugging me a whole lot. It is a fighting game, early 3D era. I only had a demo of the game for PC. The demo had two characters, one was some kind of a dude who basically looked like he was made out of rock. The other playable character was perhaps called Jake? I bet the game looked like ass, it must have come out around 1995 or something like that. One more thing I kinda remember is that the characters were fighting on a floating square basically.

I think it might be FX Fighter again! Scroll up this very page a bit for a YouTube video. It has a character named Jake.

Edit: mcleeeeeeeem!

Need help finding this game just from its boxart long ago:

- It looked like a parody of Captain America

- Box was predominantly yellow.

- Had a subtitle "The Fourth Reich" if I recall correctly

This has been bugging me for a while.

GAF, this one's going to be a tough one since I'm light on specifics.

When I was a kid I remember watching a lot an older cousin play a NES shoot em up that for the life of me I haven't been able to pinpoint which one was it so ill make my best to describe what little I can remember:

As far as I know it was 1 player only (not sure though), it was all overhead with screen scrolling up and it was definitely set in space. You controlled a grey spaceship and I remember seeing in the background sometimes big hunks of metal (possibly slither big ass spaceships) passing by below the action. I also remember the game having great catchy music.

What game could it be? And before anyone says no, it wasn't Gradius or Lifeforce.

I believe this game was on Sega genesis or the NES I totally forgot.
You played as a kid/teen i think you were with other kids/teens too and you went into this haunted house. I dont remember how scary it was but I know the house was spooky and there were a bunch of kids/teens. Like that's literally all I remember.

Could it be Maniac Mansion? It was a point-and-click style adventure game where you picked from several teens to explore the mansion. There was an NES version. Any other details on genre?

Alex_Mexico - long shot, but could it have been the shooting parts of Guardian Legend? I don't remember other ships going by, but there are a bunch of metal buildings and stuff in the first stage, and other areas have distinctive looks, some of which are set in space. It does have really catchy music for sure, though!

I remember playing a game as a kid where you played a guy who was stuck in his house which was on fire and you had to find a way out of the house before you were burned alive. I distinctly remember if you went upstairs it was instadeath because the toilet exploded (there may have been a bomb in it).

I'm thinking it was around the time of the BBC Micro / Acorn Electron, but I honestly don't know.

I never did get out of that house!

Guardian Legend? Star Soldier? Zanac? There are quite a number of space vertical shmups on NES, so it's hard to pin it down with a vague description. It's unlikely that it's Recca if you saw a cousin playing it on the NES as a kid, since that was a Japan only game used at shmup events.

'Grey spaceship' & 'hunks of metal' makes me think of Xevious, but that wasn't set in space.
