Games you remember, names you don't

Some MMO game where you could choose between using guns or swords. Kind FPS-ey. You could run on walls, play in FFA's or team-based matches. People commonly 'dueled' 1v1 style.

It was free, I think, or there was at the very least a free trial. I have no idea if it's around anymore, though.

Gunz - The Duel?

ok, here goes. this is going to be vague because its been decades, but you guys are awesome, so ill give this a shot.

when i was a little kid (so probably late 80s) my father would occasionally bring a computer home from work and it had like one game on it. in my memory its sort of an adventure game (basically a choose your own adventure), maybe first person (?) was black and white, and you would die often based on your decisions. i remember one death had you go down an alley and get killed by maybe alligators.

any guesses?

amazing, i knew you guys were awesome. that really could be it. its something in that series, anyway. i may go download a couple and see if any feel familiar.

I've got one for you guys. I've been trying to remember the title of this game for about three years.

It was an Atari Lynx game, sort of like a military flight game/possibly simulator, called F14 or something. This is the only game that my Dad has ever played and completed. I remember there was a tough stage where you had to fly between two very close mountains? I'm digging deep here, but thats all i've got for you.

Blue Lighting or WarBirds maybe?

Three robots... Xardion, that's got to be it.

I just tracked that one down a couple weeks ago myself. Holy cow, is that a rotten game. I remember it being so awesome! Le sigh...

I've figured out the name of this one before but I have forgotten it and can't find it again. It's an Intellivision game. You pilot a space ship down a trench kind of like the end of Star Wars. Seemingly at random (to my five-year-old self), the game will switch to a shot of the earth exploding.

Star Strike?

I remember a game that came out on either the NES or SNES (pretty sure it was the SNES) that was this super-Japanese poorly-translated monster of a game. You played as a ninja, all the characters were "chibi"-ish, it had a stage where you climbed a large tree, there was magic spells you could use or something... it was wicked fun but I remember nothing about who made it or the name of it.
And no, it wasn't Goemon.

A game on PS1 that was like Final Fantasy but better, and you had a weird pink creature thing that assisted you on your journey... amazing game! Would love to play it again:)

Guardian's Crusade?

Okay, this one is bugging me. It was a PC game back in the 90s I want to say. It was a colored marble based puzzle game. You had these elaborate contraptions of wire and ramps and gadgets and stuff, but you didn't actually build them. Instead you just had to choose the timing and order in which you injected colored marbles into the system to get them all sorted into the correct slots at the bottom. It was called something in the vein of "Marble Madness" or "Marble Mania", and it had some pretty nice pre-rendered assets.

I'm pretty sure it wasnt either of these, was defo more like Blue Lightning than Warbirds though.
If it wasn't Blue Lightning, then Steel Talons is probably the only other option, even though it's a helicopter arcade sim.

So awesome

So I remember playing a PC demo maybe around 2003 of an RTS that was kind of like Company of Heroes I think but it was modern military. I think the demo was set in a harbor if that helps.

Okay, let's give this a try.

- I think I played this circa 94-95, or maybe a few years later.
- It was for Windows 95.
- It features a 3rd person point-of-view graphic adventure game (like LucasArts games)
- It was around some feudal/medieval environment.
- And the last thing I remember its that if you went too far in a desert place, you could die.

Be my guest, GAF.

Dragonsphere maybe?

If it was 94-95 it would have been DOS for sure and not Win95

Ok, my turn ;p

Quite simple 2D PC game with 4 player local split screen. Dont know the date, probably something like 1995-1998.
You were controlling a plane from WWI, You had bombs [limited amount] and machine gun and You needed to carry fuel. Amount of fuel and bombs determines how light and steerable was Your plane.
I remember that there were 4 bases for every player that contained troops and artillery that shot to other players, and that You were steering with only 4 buttons [steer up, down and engine toggle, I'm not sure that but i think You could turn You plane upside down] + bomb and machine gun buttons.

Ps. Landing was very hard

Ps2. Oh and screens were locked, so when You were flying out of Your screen, You just flew over to Your friends' one.

Here we go:

A PS1 game, most likely European or US made, all characters were rendered in a cheap way.
Your character was some dude with a hammer and the levels were huge and made of collapsing stuff like bricks or boxes or other things that you needed to destroy with the hammer while watching out not to get crushed from stuff falling down and killing you!
It was kind of reverse Mr Driller ;)

King's Quest VII?

I had this game for SNES briefly when I was a kid. From what I remember, it had a top down view and took place in a desert. I remember it having on foot and vehicle sections, but I may be mistaken about the latter. Shit, sorry if I'm too vague.

I once played this Horror Game for PS1 which totally freaked me out. I just remember that you played a woman who wents to hospital in the beginning of the game to visit her father. But when you enter the hospital you see that all people are dead and your dad is speaking to you. I think he also appears in some kind of ghost form but i cant remember :D Any idea what the game is?

That would be D, one of the most under appreciated survival horror games back then.

My friend played this PS1 fighting game. It may or may not be Japanese, but some characters in the game had pets such as wolves, owls, and monkeys. They could do side attacks or help do an ultra attack. One character had a weapon similar to Kunai with chain from Yugioh; he was also evil and had an evil laugh.

Samurai Spirits / Samurai Shodown?

I know there are characters with dog and bird as sidekick but don't remember monkeys.

Edit: ok apparently there's a monkey too; so that's probably it.

He said there's definitely a pet monkey, and in this particular super attack he calls more monkeys to attack. The boxart was also kind of dark and had the evil guy on it.

Edit: Nevermind, he said it's definitely Samurai Spirits, he recognizes the character select screen. Thanks!

Ok GAF help me out here, please, there is a game that is not yet released, I think..

It's coming at least for the ps3
Anime-style
The main character is a little boy
There were screens in a very colorful village
I believe that is going to be released first in Japan.
I remember some GAF-hype and I want to believe it's going to be good.

I'm sorry for the poor details but I remember a thread about it floating around here but now I can't find it because I can't remember the name.

Yes! Thanks to Gravijah and Tambini this why I love GAF.

What happened to this game? It seems so unique, and beautiful I need to grab more info (I'll try to find the topic about it).

Super Ninja Kun comes to mind.

First thing that came to mind was Super Swiv, but it doesn't have on foot sections.

I remember seing this, i think it was an rts that had time travel elements where you could like send units and stuff forward and backwards in time or something like that. this was a couple of years ago and it was still in developement at the time.

It's called Achron and it's currently in testing.

Thanks to this thread I found a game I used to play all the time as a kid.

I was about to post asking what game this was when I decided to copy my post over to Google and see what turns up. Oh the memories. Except I don't really remember playing it on a Commodore.

Ok, this one is going to be really vague.

It's a first person shooter for the PC from back in the Doom era. It had a fantasy setting and one of the main weapons was a crossbow that shot green bolts. Might have been filled with acid or something. It was also more of an adventure game that just a straight shooter. You talked to people, and I remember at the beginning entering a HQ of some sort with guards that would attack if you shoot them.

That's about all I got.

No, I don't think that was it. The game I'm thinking of had sections like a city you could walk around in with people in it that wouldn't attack you unless you attacked them. Also I believe the crossbow was more futuristic as well.
