Games you remember, names you don't

Really vague this

it was a fighting game, on PS1

a 3D beat-em-up like tekken, one player on the left one on the right

the character models were very rounded, they were people, but not ultra realistic

graphic style like this

Had a Japanese / Asian name

I remember renting a Dreamcast game that was very much a hack and slash game, allot like Onimusha. Some of the bosses were giant baby's. Still cant seem to find it.

All I can think of is the original Dynasty Warriors game, which was a one-on-one fighter.

Beserk, by any chance?

There was a game boy color (GBC) game that I think was pokemon-like (think it had two versions) and the box art had kids wearing CARGO PANTS.

I never played it, but I want the box art to show my children cargo pants in video games.

didn't jade wear cargo pants in bg&e?

But I remember either a NES or SNES game (though I'm almost positive it's a NES game) where you're playing as a ninja in red and black going through a castle or something killing enemies and you can go and buy items from this store. And there's a hint either in the game or the manual that says "Try spending a lot of money in the item store and see what happens!" when you do all you get is the cashier smiling and calling you "big spender"". It's been bugging me for a while now.
Found it

Conquest of the Crystal Palace. Developed by Quest no less.

Is this what you were looking for? I don't think there were two versions and I don't know if it played like Pokemon, but everything else matches up.

Super Solvers: Challenge Of The Ancient Empires?

Yeah, that's it, looking at the google images :). I don't recall the name being so lame (or long for that matter). Probably remember it by the 8-letter dos directory the game was installed in ;). Thanks!

There were these set of games I used to play at my elementary school's computer lab that was a series of educational videogames where you play as this kid with a red cap and he usually faces off against this crazy scientist who looks like Einstein. The one I fondly remember was this spelling bee type game where you face off against him in the white house or something like that on a podium.

That was such a fun thing to play, the virtual competition made learning really fun.

I forgot the series name but one of the games was Treasure Mountain:

edit: series is called Super Solvers

Ok, I have one.
It's an old Arcade game, graphics about SNES level, it was a side-scroller brawler, not so brawler if I remember correctly, similar to Vigilante. I remember the main character being similar to a Double Dragon character, the setting was kinda futuristic, I remember high buildings as background, and I think there was a something like a powerup, or somekind to artifact on the ground (to jump? or something...)

Any clue? =P

You played as this cheeta/cat-like thing. The main character was yellow with black spots. He had a really long tail. When you pressed a button the tail changed shape. You could turn his tail into a bridge, stairs, and things like that. The point of the game was to lead an elephant (i think it was an elephant) to the other side of the stage using your tail to help him bypass obstacles.

I'm pretty sure it was a Sega Genesis title.

I remember playing some DOS game. I think it might have been a platformer/puzzle that took place on one screen at a time and had multiple levels. The graphics were fairly primative and I remember there being some magenta colored water that if I can recall this correctly it froze you when you touched it.

I remember playing an arcade game in the mid 90's that was a side-scrolling brawler, with support of at least 2 players, maybe 4 and you were ninjas. I'm almost completely convinced it was based on those little plastic kid ninjas that were in gumball machines. The sprites were small like them, colorful, and It's certainly not Ninja Gaiden Arcade.

Anyone have any ideas?

Wow, I was going to come in here to post a memory about this game with giant mechs that you controlled for PS2 (it wasn't Armored Core) and it had missions without your mech as well. Turns out I just remembered it, it's funny because I'm always trying to remember the name but I usually don't and when I'm about to post about it in this topic the name comes to me.

Anyway, the name is R.A.D.

Magenta-coloured water suggests to me CGA, and I recall there were a few early Apogee titles that were CGA. I think there's a chance this one could be Arctic Adventure:

Hey guys, my mother has had Macs since they were first on the market, pretty much, and when I was little, she had a bunch of Point&Click games on it.

In one of them, the main character was a white blob-ish type dude, had a big nose. The game was in black and white (and shades of gray, maybe?), and you could travel to different planets in your space ship. I honestly don't remember the goal of the game, if there was one. One of the planets was pretty bare, but had a pyramid on it, and an elevator inside. In another scene, I think there was some goofy scientist, and I was mixing chemicals together? Maybe? I hope I'm not confusing two games here.

Yeah, I don't have much to go on. Pretty hard to google something like that. If anyone could help me out, that would be awesome. Unfortunately, my mother can't remember what it was called either.

This sounds like it could be Cosmic Osmo, an early outing for the Myst guys (but not as well-known as Manhole)

Old Windows game, but not that old. Commander Keen-esc game where you were a kid who had to basically get to the end of the level. You collected gems and sea-shells in an undersea type world. It was a verticle scroller platformer.

It's very fuzzy in my memory, but I know I liked it a lot. I remember it being very colorful, and the main character may have been a wizard.

Freaking awesome man, I love you! HAVE MY BABIES.

But really, thanks so much. Been plaguing me for YEARS.

Edit: And crap, just looked up The Manhole, and I had that game too! I sort of remember it being Jack and the Beanstalk like, and was planning to ask you guys about that one too. I would give you a cookie if I could send it through Gaf.

it was an old n64 game, at least 10 years ago that my mom wouldn't let me play because it was rated T. It was a tank game or something, where you went around and just blew shit up I think. I played it at a friends house and loved it, and would just go over there to play it since my mom forbid it

Trying to remember the name of a NES game. Pretty sure you played as a Knight and I remember you could do huge jumps onto and between trees, similar to Legend of Kage. There were also coloured gems to collect. Anyone know?

The rating makes me think it might have been Body Harvest. Not strictly a tank game, but there's extensive use of vehicles.

Here's one I was thinking of last night: a PC only first person shooter that used a minimalist comic art style similar to WW2 Soviet propanda posters and Batman The Animated Series.
The ingame models didn't use polygons, but were similar to the ones used in FPS's made with the Build engine (Duke3D). The 2d art style made them look like cardboard cutouts. Enemies only had 2 or 3 colors, which complemented the art style.
The protagonist looked like a slim version of Lobo, the DC comics character.
I guess this was released around '98.
I remember not being impressed by the gameplay & level design, but I still want to know what this game was called.

Wizards & Warriors II: Ironsword has an early level set in a forest. Could that be it?

Edit: In fact, the first W&W title starts in one. Maybe more likely?

A children's game I used to play when I was about 8 years old, I believe it was in the Windows 95 Plus-CD or something. You could explore the planets of our solar system, you could land on the planets and the gameplay was sort of like a jump'n'run as far as i remember. I'd love to know what it was called.

WIZARD AND WARRIORS made by RAREWARE

Alright, might as well try to get it named, though this will be a tough nut for you guys to crack since my memories of the game are fucking vague.

Anyhow, it's a game for NES; I think it was a platform game (maybe with RPG elements?), and one stage consists of you beginning on a ground level in a forest-like area. Pretty much the only thing I remember is that you can travel up the trees reeeaally high, and almost wander around the tree tops. I believe the colors in the game were almost monochromatic, not a big color palette at all.

Extremely vague, I know. :lol I pray to God this isn't just some drug-induced placebo memory.

EDIT: WHAT THE FUCK, it might be the game posted a couple of posts up. WTF.

Um.

Just in case... that's not Wizards and Warriors as well, is it? :-)
