Games you remember, names you don't

It was a fighting game on the Genesis. All I remember was there was a guy with a trench coat almost like a detective and he could use a tool to to glide thus hitting his opponent like Batman does.

Eternal Champions. One of the funnest fighting games next to Weaponlords.

Holy shit. May God bless you. I've not played that game since August of 1998. Wow, just wow.

Is this on the mega drive collection for PS360PC?

no idea but I still have my original sega cartridge as it was the first sega game I got after sonic that came with the system. I also have the highly more awesome Sega CD version which has more characters and cg movie sequences for each character. It's so boss.

Holy shit, Dude!! You rule! I would have never guesed this ever ever ever, I don't even remember this name or game at all. Not even the battle system..just that one part. Haha

No problem the only reason I remembered it is I rented it once as a kid and went on a search to find it myself as I thought the time based world premise was interesting. So after tracking it down I played it on PCSX2 and figured out good I suck at the music parts.

I'm looking for a PS1 game of Japanese origin. From what I can remember, it was set in a neo-futuristic setting, and the primary mechanic involved placing mines and bombs to bypass/defeat enemies.

Unfortunately that's all I can remember off the top of my head - I played the crap out of the demo for this that came with an issue of OPM - most of which actually was in Japanese. Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Looking for a PS1 JRPG. The EU cover had a rabbit or some kind of pink thing on the front, possibly looking out to the horizon. In terms of story, the only major event I remember is being on a boat, which hits a storm and you get thrown off or something. I rented it when I was a kid and the game never played past that section. Very fuzzy memory so I won't be surprised if no one gets this.

Silent Bomber ?

(great game too)

Well... you described Bomberman, but I doubt you'd come to this thread looking for something that mundane...

Maybe one of the Deception games? Although the setting is not neo-futuristic.

This one

Hello guys, I have a title that is eluding me and that evidently keep coming back at me these days. So it will be vague, sorry.
The game was a PC top down shooter. There was a demo and it was made by a big name IIRC, like apogee, epic , that sort of stuff. The setting as far as I can recall is a ruined city.
Don't recall if my system wasn't up to it at the time, but I remember having a good time playing the demo.

Maybe Raptor? Or if it's not a ship/jet game perhaps it was Take No Prisoners.

Spot on, I'm 99% sure it was indeed Take no prisoner. Raven software, shouldn't be surprised, they are good people.
Thanks eso (who I lost with erroneous memories) and Sinatar !
Now I want this game on GOG.

Nope, this game came before the cartoon/anime style became prevalent in fighting games

Nope. The graphics of this game were very similar to the original Golden Axe though.

I'll keep digging because now I'm really curious :P

Just another wild guess... Fighting Fantasy/Hippodrome?

Hey guys. So I'm trying to remember a Space simulator(?). I just remember that you can fly by the planets and stuff like that. I don't think that you actually play. Anyone know what I may be talking about?

I knew this awesome thread would come in handy sooner or later. Just couldn't think of any games at the time. One finally came to mind.

Does anyone remember a side-scrolling Ninja arcade game similar to Ninja Gaiden? All I remember is that they threw hordes of baddies at you as you progress in later levels. You could hang from street signs/tree branches and and kick enemies, or swing to build momentum in order to jump over obstacles. One key gameplay mechanic I recall was a super jump ability, where you move the joystick down, up, then hit jump. It was a useful technique for when you get overwhelmed on the lower part of the screen.

I was young then, but was getting good at it by watching the older guys play(in a small bar/shop near home). I drew some spectators one day when I played it at the arcades. It was the farthest I ever progressed in the game, that day.

This will be a long shot since I hardly remember anything. It was a game I've played once, years ago. And I seen to remember it was a point and click game. The only thing I remember is an area that in my head seemed like a huge fish tank with either a dolphin or a whale in it. And your standing above the tank and you have to save whatever animal it was in that tank. I think the walls in that room were pink, maybe even red. And I believe the character you control is a woman.

This is really the only thing I can remember unfortunately. I don't even know how far into the game this was. I probably played it between 1995-1998. But the game could've been older than that. I played it on a very old version of Windows I think, it all just seems like a blur. But it was definitely not windows 95 or anything above.

If someone can figure this one out, I'll be very thankful! I need to know why this one game is still in my memory.

Just to be clear, when you say it's similar to Ninja Gaiden, you're referring to the NES games or to the Ninja Ryuukenden/Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors arcade game? I can't think of another arcade game that has that swinging from street signs gameplay element.

Haven't played that many point & click games, but the first two games that pop into my head that have female protagonists are Legend of Kyrandia 2: Hand of Fate and Guilty (Innocent Until Caught 2). Oh, and there's also King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella.

i was thinking the same, but i can't think of a super jump move in Ninja Gaiden arcade, although everything else seems to match.

Aside from the games already mentioned by ichtyander, I can think of a couple more point&clickers you play as a woman, mainly the short lived Laura Bow series. And in Leisure Suit Larry 3 and 5 you play as Patti for some of the time.

I've only played Laura Bow 2 Dagger of Amon-Ra myself, and I don't think that game has a scene like that. But it's been a while so I could be wrong.

I meant similar to the NES. I believe Shadow Warriors is the game. I wasn't aware of arcade versions of Ninja Gaiden, nor that the European version when by the "Shadow Warriors" title. It's funny, cause I was thinking all along; "what if it turns out to be a Ninja Gaiden game afterall?" Thanks!

Okay, here's a good one that I've been wondering for a little over a year now.

There used to be these Windows 98/XP game where you would run this .EXE that had a yellow smiley face as the icon and it would prompt you "Are you sure you want to delete.." and it would show a fake directory listing of all of your files. On a timer or regardless of your chosen button, it would simulate deleting everything and then the screen goes black.

Then it says "Thank god this is only a game." and starts showing promo images and screenshots for some videogame.

Anyone recall what this was? Trying to track down this file again.

It's a bit of a long shot, and it doesn't match all the criteria you gave (character is a kid instead), but the scene with a tank and a dolphin reminded me of EcoQuest.

The screenshot on Mobygames indicates pink/purplish walls similar to what you said:

I remember a mid 90's average PC action/adventure game. 3rd person. You looked kind of like a knight. Kind of like the guy from Ghouls & Ghosts. You were in a cave in the demo.

Quoting myself from a post I made in this thread 3 years ago. I think I actually found out what it was at one point but have since again forgotten it and it's wracking my brain once more.

It's been 4 years. Anybody?

Can someone help me.
You had a game on PS1, it was an fighting game. A fighting game with crazy (litterly) fighters. You were fighting with crazy patients in a hospital.

Anyone?

edit: all the fighters were patients and it was prety hardcore (even more than MK)

This is a fairly recent game. It was for PS2. It was dubbed as the "beginner's RPG." And I remember a boat in water.

Other than that, I don't remember anything.

It was a street fighterish fighting game that came out in the 90's on super nintendo or sega... The characters in it were marine type animals. There was a level that looked like they were in an underwater base with with a big window and u can see the bottom of the ocean.

Alright, it was a Space 'sim' strategy PC game which was very basic looking... like almost Commodore 64 levels. You had to manage your power levels for stealth, engines, weapons, shields, sensors etc. and would be given missions to accomplish that required different strategies. One mission that I remember is you start out in the middle of space and have just stolen some technology or something and are being chased. Enemies are spawn in a circle around you, all heading your way. You had to put all your power to stealth, you would see their range 'bubbles' collapse to almost nothing so a gap between each ship opens. Once you travel far enough to one of the gaps you had to put all your power to the engines to push and escape.

One of the better strategy games I have played, must of been 10-15 years ago, my PC died at the time and lost the game. I think it was a free download, but hazy on that.

Zeta - Just a guess, there was an aquatic dude in Eternal Champions that had a sea level? Don't remember a purely fish based fighter though.

Honestly the only thing I can think of is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, which had a fishy character called Armaggon and a stage with a big octopus in the background. Also, if we're being biologically accurate, turtles are marine animals :)

that sounds like a cross between this game

I remember playing a game on PC, somewhere around 2002-2003, about cyborg/AI vehicles. There was giant ship in the sea with some sort of disintegrator. You could produce few types of vehicles there, one to gather resources, then there was some sort of tank, buggy, chopper and fighter jet. I think you "downloaded" pilots consciousness into them to operate. If they got destroyed you could build new one and redownload pilots. It had both strategy and action elements, I am pretty sure you could take direct control of any of those vehicles.

But I forgot the name of the game, hope someone played it as well.

The concept sounds like the old (and new) Carrier Command, so it could be Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising.
