Gamescom 2013: Your predictions

- Releasdates for both consoles
- XBONE 50€ price cut
- VITA 50€ price cut
- Crackdown 3
- Left 4 Dead 3

Xbox One will have an earlier release date, that's one thing Microsoft will have to do to try and steal the limelight and tempt fence-sitters by being the first next-gen system on the market.

MS will have a couple more games to show. Perhaps a tease for the new Halo. Something to demonstrate indie support. I expect at least one more entry in an existing franchise like Fable/Gears or Crackdown.

Then they will talk about how all the tv stuff extends to europe.

They will not change the price.

Sony

- New PS4 IP
- Vita price dop
- Major Vita game announcement

Microsoft

- Fable 4
- Banjo-Kazooie 4
- Crackdown 3

Konami shows the PC version of Rising and a release date

good times

That'd be awesome. The game could look pretty nice at a decent resolution with some AA and a stable framerate (apart from the horrendous shadows which I doubt they'll update, but we never know).

Release dates for the consoles and a few < 1m trailers for games I won't get to play until Christmas 2014 (at the earliest).

Confirmation that both first party launch line ups are bang average.

No new launch titles.

Hm.....

"Guarini's Ovosonico signs deal with Sony Computer Entertainment"

I just wants to see Naughty Dog's game on the PS4. Is that too much to ask?

Maybe a little to early (as more than half of the studio just got done with full production on the last of us a few months ago) but next E3 or even....this years VGA's (look back on ND's announce history).....

Believe

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Gamescom isn't about Games in General. It's about Interactive Entertainment
Nope, that's the E3; Gamescom is and has always been *specifically* focused on games.

Board Games and other stuff is (was that what you meant with *games*?)
No. I was referring to videogames.

What I meant is that it's a public event where all that matters are the games on the showfloor, like TGS (except not as Japanese); it's very incline to be platform agnostic (which is one of the reasons why the PC has a lot more visibility than in other shows, for instance) and it doesn't rely as much on the big opening shows where manufacturers come to tell their business strategy for the year to come, like E3.

Which is why reading how 90% of the comments are all about what Sony or Microsoft will reveal strikes me as slightly misguided.

I post this thread's mandatory "Half-Life 3 announcement" prediction.

Seriously:

Very likely:
-The Order 1886 gameplay
-DriveClub awesomeness (new build)
-KZ:SF MP livestream
-SSHD PS4
-Quantic dream project
-Planetside 2 ps4 gameplay debut

Maybe:
-SSM's game
-Something we didn't even know about
-Vita price drop
-A new bunch of indie games. (here's hoping for Routine and Star Citizen)

Xbox One will have an earlier release date, that's one thing Microsoft will have to do to try and steal the limelight and tempt fence-sitters by being the first next-gen system on the market.

It would go against everything people are expecting so it would be a shock if it happened.

Day Z standalone release date - possibly coming to a console/both consoles as well somewhere down the line.

Europa 4 being game of the show and converting PS, XBOX, 3DS etc owners over to PC.

Everyone is happy and there's no arguing.

A Glimpse of ND's new IP. Believe. Please, please , please!

Possible pirate type game judging by the slip up they made in TLoU documentary possibly?

Edit : Also what was the outcome of that "When worlds collide" tweet? Has anything come of it yet? D:

Probably end up being something like Uncharted: Drakes Origins or some such. Period swashbuckler expedition where you actually have to discover the "oooh shiny, oh no evil!" business in the first place.

Edit: Wouldn't mind that actually if they could story arc it in a sophisticated way back to modern day for UC4 to play out in a grim & grinning symphony of trademark over-the-top ultraviolence.

I think the worlds collide tweet was about the new Ratchet and Clank game.

Nintendo:
  • Metroid Prime 4 (maybe Metroid Dread, or that initial MP2 proposal which had Samus vs. the rogue AI)
  • New Starfox
  • Lots of juicy new X details and a mid 2014 release date
  • At least one new major IP

Microsoft:
  • Crackdown 3
  • Prefect Dark reboot by someone other than Rare
  • New non-shooter/non-violent IP
  • New Banjo game

Sony:
  • Dark Cloud 3
  • Lots of The Order: 1886 details
  • At least one new IP
  • Wipeout!
/Keeps dreaming.

I wonder if the Black Tusk team thing is a new Perfect Dark. I don't think the teaser is outside the realm of what a new Perfect Dark could look like (or have the xbox team publicly stated that it's new IP?).
I just wants to see Naughty Dog's game on the PS4. Is that too much to ask?
I feel like the announcement plan is to have one(maybe two) major new title from Western Develpers at Gamescom, a few of Japanese focuses/developed titles (Hot Shots, etc) at TGS and finally Naughty Dog's first year game (and again, maybe one more) at the VGAs. The VGAs have become the Naughty Dog reveal show (followed by a Game Informer cover).

That would bring the list of the first 20 games up to 9 to 12 major AAA titles, and the other 8 to 11 titles will be exclusive downloadable games which can be dispersed throughout the year and revealed at various gaming shows or on the PS Blog.

It is a new IP.

OMG A NEW MICROSOFT IP!! WHAT??

They'd like to have an earlier launch, but if the rumours about bad yields and low volumes for preorders were correct, they may not be in a position to launch earlier than Sony. If sony have large volumes, they have more flexibility in launching early.

MS will have a couple more games to show. Perhaps a tease for the new Halo. Something to demonstrate indie support. I expect at least one more entry in an existing franchise like Fable/Gears or Crackdown.

Not sure, think they spunked most of their stuff at E3. We might see more of what they've already announced, rather than new stuff. they only have a few unannounced 2014 titles left and surely they'll want to leave something for E3 next year?

Then they will talk about how all the tv stuff extends to europe.

hope so.

Sony

- Vita price drop ($199 w/ 4GB card)
- Sony introduces another new IP on PS4
- Major Vita game announcement (Uncharted/InFamous/God of War)

Microsoft

- Black Tusk game shown for XBOX One.
- More details on XBOX One TV, maybe a real live demo.

Yeah right. Maybe the vita price but no way in hell they will include a mem card

Vita price drop and the announcing of new titles felt like the safest E3 prediction in the world, and yet it totally didn't happen. Dare I make the exact same prediction for Gamescom? Sigh...

Xbone will release before PS4.

Maybe, but it won't matter much, the shelves will be bare for both at the end of launch day and Black Friday will be a mad house for people who didn't pre-order.

Either way, I would expect both consoles to launch within a 2 week period of each other.

Microsoft jokes and calls itself the One Eighty the entire conference because they just announced a kinect-less version will be available in March for $379, the Kinect version still launches as usual in November. Microsoft also announces a Kinect Rivals Lite edition will be a pack in with full version available to buy in March. A Nike kinect workout game will be shown that will connect to Nike's fuel-band. Expect popular sports stars on stage. Crackdown is a kinect game by Rare, the building climbing will be like the wall climb in Rivals. Many will cry.

For me:

-PS4 date reveal
-X1 date reveal
-Housemarque's new game
-Media Molecule's game
-Lionhead's game
-Another Rare game
-Plenty of indie Vita support
-No Vita price cut
-A new Sony/developer partnership along the lines of RAD/Tarsier
