no I am actually a Sony fan, been with Sony for the last 13 years. I have no confident in Sony anymore after the poor e3 showing. It seems they are rushing some games for launch

What are you talking about? The PS3 launch line up was terrible. Have you forgotten the whole "Riiiiiiiidge Raaacer" debacle?

Xbox One:
Release date
One or two new core games announced (Crackdown and new Lionhead titles likely).
Indie and Kinect games.
Updated gameplay and demos of E3 games

PS4:
Release date
The Order gameplay
Two new core games from WWS (Media Molecule likely, Santa Monica possible if they skipped E3 last minute, Guerrilla?).
More indie love.
Updated gameplay and demos of E3 games.

PS3:
Price cut. 12GB+game=199€.
500GB+game=269€
New GT6 gameplay, details and release date.

Vita:
Price cut: Wi-Fi model+8GB card+ many downloadable games included=199€
A couple of big titles.
More indie love.

What I expect from Sony
  • Playstation 4 release date
  • PS Vita price drop or bundle with PS4
  • Killzone Shadow Fall Multiplayer

What I expect from Microsoft
  • Xbox One release date
  • More Forza 5

-- An extremely aggressive price cut for the VITA that will see the price for a base WI-Fi model (shipping with a 4g card) coming in at just £129:99 in the UK.

-- More indie titles for the VITA with that becoming it's primary focus from now on.

-- I don't see the VITA getting any notable exclusives but I could see it getting some 'spin offs' of other third party titles such as the Arkham Origins:Blackgate title.

I predict this fierce price drop for no other reasons than Sony have to do something and I want a VITA for myself (thank you PS Plus) and this is the likeliest price at which I'll bite.

I was expecting media molecule's new game at Sony conference, but I am a bit sceptical now. Can anyone interpret this tech talk via tweeter:

Question: May I be so daring as to ask if you use implicit representation (sdf) in your physics engine, or convert to meshes?

Alex Evans answers: for our R&D PS4 stuff its a bit TBD but probably a mix of sdf and mesh and convex.

Sorry for not knowing how to copy tweets. :p

Does this mean that their PS4 game is still in such early stage, since this stuff is still TBD, or does defining this part come later in game production? Thanks for any clarifications.

Sony:

2-3 new Vita games announced
PS3 price drop

MS:

At the rate MS are climbing down, i suspect they might announce a Kinect-less bundle of the X1 for some time in 2014, probably Spring.

they cant announcce that now, theyd effctively kill their own launch. people would just wait.

that would have to happen with a coordinated supplychain, bleeding kinect models down to just going OOS and new models flooding in...but they cant even mention it until its almost happening

$399 XB1 w/o kinect. Yesterday's announcement was preparing us for this.

Release dates for both consoles.

Sony should have pulled a Dreamcast. MS is catching up.

Microsoft
  • XB1 Release Date details (November)
  • NEW games (2-4)
  • More info on TV features
  • More NEW Kinect 2.0 features and demos
Sony
  • PS3 Release Date details (October)
  • NEW games (3-5) including at least one very close to if not at launch
  • More info on cloud & online features, new PSN features
  • More info on the new PS4 UI
  • Lots of Vita info (especially as it relates to PS4)
  • NEW PS3 & Vita bundles and price options/cuts
Microsoft Post show...
  • NEW updated release date based on PS4 release (October)
Just saying that last one so we can get to 1080 ;P ... I honestly think MS may release first as they feel more ready.

My predictions:

- PS4 launch date announced for Europe / US. (Late October if rumours are to be believed)

- Media Molecule's new IP for PS4 revealed.

- Killzone multiplayer shown for first time.

- More on DriveClub, Infamous SS and The Order (gameplay shown).

- XBOX One launch date announced - 5th November 2013

- Crackdown 3 announced as spring 2014 title

- Europe centric TV features announced

There will be a bunch of 3rd party stuff announced. More on games such as The Evil Within, Watch Dogs, The Crew, Thief.

- Trailer for new Tomb Raider.

That's about it. Most big stuff will come from the VGA's in December and then during E3 next June.

Major announcements from Blizzard and Valve (expansion / new game), release dates for both new consoles, real footage of Star Wars Battlefront, INnoVation wins WCS season two.

After reading some people's comments, I'm a bit surprised. I didn't realize there were Sony fans who called their E3 conference a "poor showing". To those who were disappointed, what were you expecting? Did you want them to unveil more games despite Gamescom and TGS coming before launch? I'm just curious considering how much info they did give at E3.

I think their conference was not good if you take out the indies and console DRM announcement.

I'm surprised people are expecting much in the way of new games announcements at Gamescom. Sure there are a couple each year but I think people expecting 3-4 new PS4 games to be announced are in for a shock. Especially those thinking there will be new launch titles unveiled.

Love to be wrong though.

As a WWS fan, Sony E3 2013 showing was disappointing. I didn't care much to their indie the emphasis and third party stage announcements. They only showed a teaser for 1 game (Order 1886) and to top it off, they announced online play pay wall.

To contrast, my favourite E3 confrence ever is Sony E3 2009 where they showed:

- Fantastic Uncharted 2/GOW3 demos
- GT5/GTPSP announcement and showing
- MGS Peace Walker
- The Last Guardian
- Awesome Move demo (at the time)
- Agent announcement

MUCH MUCH better compared to their showing this year showing content wise.

Given how quiet Sony has been since E3, I'd expect them to come out very aggressively at Gamescom.

It seems to me they've been marketing against MS all year long, so I'd expect to see them to continue to try to counter and nullify their opponents' messaging again at this show.

Specifically I expect them to announce a launch date ahead of Xbone, with a larger range of online services available from day #1, and if MS unveils a big surprise title, I'd expect them to show 2 to again try and overshadow them.

Not saying they can do this for sure, or that they'd be successful by doing any of this it just seems to me that this is the playbook they are using this time.

Psvita thrown under bus again
staggered ps4 release date...eu not until next year

lots of games shown that promise to be out in the next 12 months but in reality ...wont.

crackdown and nov 5th release date for xbone

More crap talked by pr ....gaf sucks up the ps4 announcements like charlie sheens nostrils to cocaine but lights the pitchforks for any positive xbone news.

Overall very average

I think their conference was not good if you take out the indies and console DRM announcement.

Fair enough, but that's gutting their conference. It would be like saying microsoft's was not good if you took out (insert game that interested you). For example, I'm a 360 gamer, and I wasn't overly impressed with what the xbox one has this year compared to what I can get on my 360.

Agreed that the games announcements were not up to par with past showings, but do they need to be for launch? I mean do casual gamers get consoles at launch? Especially when this launch is coming up with AC4, CoD(Ireallydon'tknowwhatnumberit'supto) and B4?

Maybe I've got the whole "grass is greener" syndrome. I just thought Sony did a much better job hyping fans for their launch to what Microsoft did.

i won't post my (entire) list because it's massive. i'm casting a very wide net because i'd rather get it peppered with a few hits here and there than be too specific and end up disappointed like with my E3 prediction lists.

but i will instead post a list of some things that have been eating at me, the current explanations for them just don't give me any closure, and i'd like to hear at least SOMETHING about them at Gamescom or via info drops around that time:

-is the 3D video chat patent going to come to fruition via PS4?
-Sony said PS4 will analyze your games purchases and predict + download what it thinks you're likely to buy next, but haven't uttered a peep about it since Feb. (afaik)
-more partners besides YouTube, Facebook, and Ustream have bee alluded to by Sony when it comes to the streaming and upload options. they said that there are open streaming standards so will we see more partners announced? Twitch would be a megaton.
-what's going on with Near? hardly any games support the gift feature, and it feels like a lot of wasted potential that they could easily revamp and turn into something awesome and essential like so many seem to say StreetPass is with 3DS.
-will Vita Remote Play ever get a legit live demo?

on games:
-is Epic cooking up anything for PS4 in-house?
-with all of the indie + horror love PS4 is getting, would we ever see Amnesia?
-is Sony going to let Tarsier make City of Metronome finally?
-Dead Nation 2 was hinted at and i want to know if it's their second PS4 game in the works.
-Planetside 2 PS4 was supposed to be shown at SOE Live but apparently wasn't. do we get to see it at GC?
-what happened to the DUST514 Vita companion app?
-PS2 has a mobile companion app. will Vita get one?
-and where is Until Dawn?

i don't think everything that's gnawing at me will get answered, but if at least some of this does i think i can settle down till at least spring. i feel like i should end this post with the Unsolved Mysteries theme music or something...

Sony:

- PS4 launch date
- at least 2 new 1st party games
- 1 big Vita game
- (maybe) Vita pricedrop

MS:

- Kinect will still be part of the package, still 499
- a few 1st party games
