Gamescom: Microsoft press conference (August 4; Scalebound, Crackdown, QB, H5+ more)

Scalebound is what I'm most interested in from this along with seeing how crackdown is. QB this conference will probably decide if I get it day 1 or wait for the sales.

I kind of trust neogaf to get hype right. They championed Witcher 3 beautifully for example. But I I don't get the post e3 shenmue/last guardian/ Horizon hype.

Scalebound and Quantum Break will be on point. And where the hype should be.

Very exciting blockbuster line up along with Sea of Thieves.

Coming in 2016 not 2018 too

It's all about different tastes.

We don't know much about Scalebound, whereas we've seen gameplay from Horizon already.

To me, the only good thing about Quantum Break is that Sam Lake is behind it and the mini series tie-in (I LOVED the one for Alan Wake). The gameplay itself left me super cold.

So yeah, I'm intrigued by Scalebound because of Platinum, but I'm definitely hyped about Horizon.

Quantum Break has shown nothing so far that could get me remotely hyped. But I believe in Sam Lake.

Different tastes, man!

I'm still excited about the conference, because I want to see these games shine.

I've been really disappointed with my Xbox One this past year, BUT this fall is setting up to be the best year the system will have for a awhile.

Every genre is getting checked off this fall for gamers, so there will be something for everyone.

Very exciting time to be an Xbox One owner. Just hope they can so do something for 2016.

Ofcourse, I'm just intrigued that MS has spent big on real pedigree AAA projects and new IP that Neogaf has (to date) shown a fraction of the hype I'd objectively expect.

But mech Dino RPG by a team that's never truly delivered is god tier,

Just a bit interesting.

Welp, took the plunge and bought myself an Xbone to go with my ps4 after e3. NOW MICROSOFT BETTER VALIDATE MY GODSDAMNED PURCHASE.

They likely have more coming next year than this year. We already know of QB, SB, Crackdown, ReCore, Gears and Sea of Thieves. You'll get your yearly Forza and at least 1 or two others in the holiday from AAAs alone

I think 2016 is already their most exciting year for Xbox One

I really don't see how it's surprising or interesting at all.

Again, we've seen the story/setting and gameplay from that other game. And the setting is easily super interesting and what draws most people in, I assume.

Right now, Scalebound is just a CGI trailer for most people. As soon as we know more about it, I'm pretty sure that the hype is going through the roof.

When people are fanboys, but don't realize they're fanboys.

I think Horizon benefited a lot from being a surprise AAA game at E3 with an actual gameplay reveal.

The stuff MS had at E3 was either already announced or showed no gameplay, so of course it didn't get the same amount of buzz.

Really hoping for some new IPs much like Sea of Thieves and Recore. This was mentioned wasn't it? Isn't Lionhead working on something new?

I am sure there will be plenty of hype once we see gameplay for Scalebound and Crackdown. Most of GAF does not wet themselves over CGI only trailers these days.

They are but FL isn't out yet.

Don't know how much new stuff we'll get seeing as we have Scalebound, Quantum Break, ReCore and Sea of Thieves announced already, at least, in the AAA space.

Twisted Pixel and Press Play are working on new stuff too

After seeing the Battletoads foam fists and the redesigned statue of the characters at e3 i am absolutely certain a new Battletoads will be revealed at gamescom.

I somewhat agree, they've been kind of hyping this series up for a while. I have a hard time believing it's simply a result the BTs inclusion in Rare Replay.

Rash's design on the Rare Replay boxart, Phil's t-shirt at the Windows 10 event, and Chris Charla's comment at GDC, and trademark renewal last year make me thing it'll happen at some point. Maybe not Gamescom but soon.

Also they're inclusion in Shovel Knight is pretty convenient though Yacht Club asked to put them in to begin with.

Whilst I agree it does all add up, its worth noting Microsoft renewed a ton of other Rare IP trademarks recently so its not impossible they did it only for Rare Replay

Quatum Break, Scalebound, Recore (hopefully) and Crackdown all with gameplay would make Gamescom one of their best conferences yet.

Naturally but as you said it does all add up. It would be very weird to specifically callout Battletoads and be like "oh it was just for Rare Replay".

I honestly dont care all that much for crack down, its gameplay wasnt very polished or all that good to me and it definitely didnt hold up well when I played it again last year. Scaling buildings especially was just tedious.

Looking forward to scalebound the most and sone qb on the side.

I think Rare Replay could also fulfill another purpose for Microsoft. It could gauge potential interest in Rare IP that Microsoft could be looking to revive (not necessarily all through Rare either). Rare as a company has a ton of IP for Microsoft to build its first party on. I do think Battle Toads in particular is getting revived somehow regardless though.

I know we went through a drought of 1st party games this year with XB1 to start, but this holiday and going into next year the schedule is looking really good overall. Hopefully this means we'll get games all year long from MS going forward based off of everything we've seen so far.

I think one or two games might be delayed into 2017 (Rare Pirate MMO/ReCore) but it will be an improvement to the 9 months of nothing that happened this year.

ReCore is scheduled for Spring 2016, so a delay to 2017 would be a long one. I don't see that happening, but who knows? I'm guessing Sea of Thieves will enter open beta in 2016 if the final release gets pushed back.

What exactly is ReCore? Is it a full-fledged $60 game or something smaller? A CGI trailer announcement with a release less than a year later is very unusual for a big new IP (no I'm not counting Bloodborne as a new IP)

I'm interested only because it's the ex-Metroid Prime guys at Armature but I want to see what it is first.

Sea of Thieves won't release before 2017, you can count on that. Maybe we'll get a beta next year. Depending on how much they show of Crackdown next month that might miss 2016 as well.

Scalebound will be amazing though.

I just realized the Rare Replay comes out the same day as the conference.

Perfect timing for another IP reboot announcement? Battletoads finally? Definitely expecting a second wave of BC games too.
