Gamesindustry: Xbox Live Compute (Cloud Servers) offered free to devs

So which are the first multiplayer games to appear on both PS4 and bone so that we have a countdown to lag-comparisons between the two - any this year?

You mean without dedicated servers confirmed on PS4?

I'm sure ACIV continues the AC MP so there's that

Then NFS:rivals has a big MP aspect right?

Not the most demanding MP games though in my opinion

Maybe some of the sports titles MP?

“This year, our tests revealed that Microsoft Azure Blob Storage has taken a significant step ahead of last year’s leader, Amazon S3, to take the top spot. Across three primary tests (performance, scalability and stability), Microsoft emerged as a top performer in every category. Even though Azure has not been in the market as long as S3 and does not have nearly the same volume of storage under management, it is clear that Microsoft’s investments in Azure are starting to pay dividends and that the technology they are providing to the market is second to none.”

What? Friend, when did I say anything about what ghosts was or wasn't? If you read the bolded section of the quote I was replying to, you would see that I was responding to what he said about dedicated servers not being a big deal.

They are a very big deal as seen here,

Looks like I'm not the one who doesn't know what he's talking about.

The point was you were talking shit to the dude and championing MS Azure servers who said it wasn't a big deal either or in relation to Killzone--turns out the fancy dedicated servers free for all devs so far seem to be a hybrid system just like Killzone is using (Since COD is using Azure).

Uh.. No?
Because COD says they are using a hybrid of listen/dedicated servers across all platforms, you assume Xbox's infrastructure only provides that?
You're trying to spin this way too hard, making so many illogical jumps.

Not going to even bother getting into a debate about Killzone's server system, someone else in this thread made a very nice long post about their proxy servers.

I think people here are grossly over emphasising how important the average consumer cares about this. consumer dont care. its still nice to have it though.
Even the average consumer knows what lag is. They will notice lag free multiplayer, even if they do not know the terminology or why it's lag free.

They will also notice faster matchmaking... big time. Faster connecting to servers as well. No more "HOST HAS LEFT U R FUCKED" messages. Even if they aren't 100% aware of the change, it will create a much much better experience.

Yeah. But the point is, they'll have no idea before they make the purchase. It won't affect their choice between PS4 and Xbone.

e: or maybe it wasn't pompidu's point. whatever.

A better user experience will get them talking about it to their friends. Word will spread. I think all my friends knew that PS3 had a lesser online experience despite 360 not being advertised as having a better one.

That's what you think, okay. I know, for a fact, my friends didn't know, and couldn't tell. Like I posted earlier.

I'm not downplaying dedicated servers at all. I'm saying MS needs to be really smart about advertising it, if they want it to move considerable amounts of consoles.

Everyone I've ever spoken to, informed or not, has known the basic rule, Xbox Live > PSN. Before the changes are made to either service, or either console is released, people will still be thinking that, and it will make an impact on next gen sales.

My point wasn't that every single person knew. My point was that a good experience sells itself.

The average cod player will understand dedicated servers. They may not know the terminology or the details but they will understand that an xbox hosts the game with the host advantage or the host rage quitting etc. Hell anyone to have played Battlefield 3 will know about dedicated servers cause you can't rent them. Don't know why people are trying to make out that this is not a big deal.

That's a really good point but remember that in 2005 the average consumer didn't care about online MP and now millions of them buy COD every year, inducing rage and bewilderment for many on here. Those people are likely aware and if they aren't then MS will make sure they understand. I wouldn't be surprised if "Better with Kinect" morphs into "Better with Azure" or something.

That is a great point. I could totally see MS having some "cloud powered" campaign for their games.

The difficulty I see with this is the non-hardcore who could really be sold on dedi's and such would be your COD and BF console players but both games are getting dedi's on both

So we have to see any reason why they would think the online is better on one or the other.
