Gamestop had Midnight releases for Black Ops 6 and it appears people still care about it (Update: They photoshopped an 11 year old picture)

Considering that picture was posted at 11 AM that morning, I don't think it was from one of the Black Ops 6 midnight launches, so hard to confirm if anyone actually showed up for these

I am really enjoying hardcore team death match .

The maps are not big to the point where you run for a while till u find someone . It's smaller mid sized maps that are well designed . I like it . Hated the maps in mw3

Midnight launches with lines, now that takes me back a decade or so.

Nice to see some traditions are still around.

Miss those 12am release parties at stores. Good time with friends and staying up all night. Halo 2 and Halo 3 were the best of them.

I'm really curious how many people show up to these things now. I can't imagine too many - it's one of those things you just can't recreate now.

Most memorable for me was the Wii launch, and getting home to play Twilight Princess till like 3am.

Picture was fake

Can find in old blog from 2013 : https://www.firsttimemomanddad.com/...dads-dont-miss.html?showComment=1366390493139
Or another website on 2018 here : https://ekgaming.com/2018/03/30/gamestop-is-finally-on-its-way-out-few-will-miss-it/

Why would they post an 11 year old photo?

It's not even accidental because they poorly shopped out other store names.

Weird.

My most recent midnight launch was Animal Crossing New Horizons and there were dozens of people. It was during COVID, so everyone waited inside their cars in the parking lot and the store clerks came around and handed out the games.

It's not even photoshopped per say. They straight up AI'ed the photo. You can see the building on the outside looks different from the original picture. The literally building has had a makeover. They went there way to lie to the public with a picture from 13 years ago :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Where is the lie? The photo was posted at 12:30pm the day before release. Why would anyone think this was an actual photo from a midnight release that hadn't even happened yet?

You know a lie, when you see it. You know what those post was supposed to "get across". Lets be real.

I like how there is a thread about trust and games journalism and a thread about photoshopped Gamestop on the front page of Neogaf.

I would gladly show up for midnight releases again if anyplace did them, think it'd be fun again. Interacting with other gamers you don't know on something other then a headset is an experience the youth of today just will never experience at home.

Not surprised its photoshop, a lot of people know its just a coaster now as nothing comes on the disc, and sadly a lot of people who don't.

I'm happy I went to Best Buy at midnight when Black Ops 1 came out.

GameStop midnight launches were fun for many years. Went to Skyrim and Modern Warfare 2's launch. Lines were a block long. Then they started having them for niche games, like one time I went and got ZoE HD collection. Then around GoW 2018 came out, they started having them at like 9 PM or something due to security reasons.

Been playing since OG MW. Can't be bothered anymore but it's new and fresh to others. Enjoy \(^-^)/
Same. Verdansk brought me back for maybe 3 years on warzone and the new cods but CBA with MW3 (scam) or BO6. Played the beta and I rather play COD4 remastered (OG MW1) and I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

Nah, I'm 95% sure that's a photoshop, not AI. They've chopped out a section of the building to shorten it, removed the sign of the other shop (probably with the clone tool), and clumsily tried to remove the reflection of the light from that shop's sign (again, possibly with the clone tool). You can literally see how the line of the roof becomes bumpy where that light was removed, probably because it was done by hand.

The only thing actually new in that picture might be an additional section of pavement. That could have been done with generative fill or another AI tool I suppose, but the rest is just stuff taken away from the original image.

Not only did they adjust the look of the building and took out Yankee Candle, but they also made the store a couple feet shorter getting rid of that grey striped parts of the plaza. wtf. lol

I have never really liked a COD but why are you guys trying to down play how insanely popular it is all of a sudden?

LOL! Insane to do all of this to hype something that people don't do anymore.
