I just called the store I pre-ordered at and they said they'd be calling everyone on Wednesday. Why they gotta make me wait?? I'm #5 out of 16, so I think I might be ok, but they did have 3 employee pre-orders, and no one on line with me got the 20 gig. So if it gets cut to 8 and the employees don't pass I'm probably gonna get stuck with a 20, if I get one at all.
I kinda hope she doesn't get hers. Her and that little, dirty Frenchman who kept giggling about how he's going to sell it on ebay for $1,000. I'm cool with selling it. I'd sell mine for big bucks too. But you don't act like a ****ing Hanna Barbera villain when surrounded by complete strangers, man.

That's awful. I was going to pay mine off in advance too, but then I started worrying about getting a refund and decided against it. I want to pay in cash, and I'm not waiting for them to send me a check just in case they don't get mine in for months.Crackerman16 said:

Rummy you still might get a call tonight, when I was in earlier I was confirming I was #6 and they said they wouldn't make their calls tomorrow... a few minutes ago i got an automated call for RR6, and just now the mgr called confirming I'm #6, he said I HAVE to pick it up by 9pm though. Geez. That's not a problem for me cause I'm right down the street but they are really trying to play hard ball on this one.

I think you misunderstood me. I was just trying to explain why the order number was different from the preorder line.

The manager that spoke to me said that corporate wants all PS3s gone by Saturday night so they can deal with Wii orders.

Just called my EB. They're getting 7 (instead of 8), but two 499 when there was only one preorder for a 499. Says they'll be going down the list in order, in which case I'm second in in good shape... we'll see.

The guy called me tonight. He said they were only getting 8 and that the first 8 people there that had reserves would get one. I told him that I was #1 on the list and he said the pre-order was just for a place in line on the day the system came out. Lame.

So how does that work? If Best Buy supposedly "stole" product.. and they have like 900ish stores (this includes canadian) and they are receiving 26 per store.. and GS is averaging.. 8-10 and they have 3600+.... yea...

bwhahaha, I'm so glad I got my Preorder in at TRU in february (woo canada)... I'm #6 on the list, called today; their allocation is apparently all 50 of their preorders.
It's the only TRU in the area (London FTW), outside of Brampton/brantford/GTA... so it's expected they'll get them all.
EBs here are reporting a cut as well, so it's not just USA

edit: FWIW, I just called my EB and they are saying they know nothing about any cut in stock. They are still claiming to be getting all 16 pre-orders in. BS or not? You decide. :-/
Toys R US are probably also cut...they just don't know about it yet or don't think it's worth announcing to their employees/the general public.
Sony's going to want as many units as possible to go to Wal Mart and Best Buy. Not just because they have clout, but because they're the most visual. Sony wants all that press with people camped out and massive sell outs within minutes of stores opening.
Pre-orders just don't get the same media attention.
