Same here. He assured me that I'm safe with the 15/16 slot. Either they hadn't heard yet, they aren't getting cuts at my EB, or the guy was lying.Ryu1999 said:I called EB at about 2 hours ago and the guy said they didn't know anything about cuts

nicholasbrutal said:You guys realize it's Sony who cut their PS3 shipments to GS/EB in half, right? This isn't GS/EB being a bunch of ****tards. Employees who reserved the system cannot purchase on first shipment (correctional/termination will ensue!) and brick and mortar will be fulfilled before online bundles.
This is a shitty situation for everyone involved: the customer, Gamestop/EB, Sony. Everyone loses, but any fingers should be pointed squarely at Sony. Deliver or shut up already. Jesus.
Great Poster said:I blame both, honestly. Yea...yea...fk Sony for not getting enough units out but the least EB can do at this point is be straight with their customers.
Thus far today...I've had the same manager:
- lie about not knowing anything about cuts
- lie about how many units they are getting in
- claim that the PS3 pre-order process doesn't work like every other pre-order process that they have had since the inception of pre-orders, i.e. first come first serve on pre-orders.
Just be up front and honest so we can make alternate plans if need be.
scola said:So my friend works in a mall and pre-ordered a PS3 at the mall gamestop, he has some friends that work there. So he pre-orders his PS3, pays it in full. THen the next week the manager tells him they need to make holiday hires etc. and they needed a "dummy" for payroll etc. and since he already works in the mall does he want to be part time / holiday help. They tell him he probably wont get any hours, but at least he could get the discount since he shops there so much.
Now the manager tells him that even though he wasn't an employee when he made the pre-orde thatr they are axing his shit because of short stock etc. customers first.. :lol
He won't have even worked a minute at the store before friday.

I had a feeling Sony might have trouble meeting even bare-bones shipment numbers. Only time will tell just how bad this gets.
Due to inventory constraints, we regret to announce that Amazon will not be conducting any preorders for the Sony PS3.
We will continue to update this discussion board with more information as soon as it's available.
Thank you for your continued support of Amazon.com.

When did they lie? When you called? They may still be going by yesterdays info and not todays due to the e-mail.. Its not like company wide they are lying.. they all just found out early this afternoon at the earliest and tons of stores arent on live e-mail.
And the preorder thing is by preorder line on the day of preorders.. hence why stores could write the order of names down etc for this reason.. They did this for the 360 too, it was in the order in which they were preordered.. If your store isn't doing this then call up corporate and they will yell at the store and fix stuff up.
Great Poster said:I called and asked the manager if he had heard anything about any cuts...he said no...they were getting all 16. I hung up the phone and called Gamestop and they told me their shipment was cut in half and EB was also affected. I immediately called the EB manager back and told him what Gamestop had to say. He then said they would be gettting 8 in...then later admitted it was 10. Maybe he was just confused because this is all happening so fast...but it just seemed strange.
Then I asked if I was good to go at 5 and he said he wasn't guaranteeing anything and that the pre-order "order" didn't mean anything.
I'm just going to go in Friday and pick mine up...if there are any troubles I will call corporate. Maybe I can score a free used game (that is all stickered up) out of this whole mess.

VALIS said:Anyone who went through ANY launches with Gamestop or EB shouldn't be surprised by this. I haven't pre-ordered a single piece of hardware from them since they totally ****ed up the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube launches back to back to back.

If thats true, then hot damn, but who really knowsFor launch day, preorders will be filled in the order they were received,
kaching said:Hmm #10 on slip for me, but I know I wasn't more than the 7th or 8th in line, so hopefully they kick the employees to the second shipment. I'll have to check in the morning. I think I was the only one to actually pre-order a 20GB, but I doubt that helps me much.

I think MS gave away more xboxes in that everytenminutes thing than gamestop is getting PS3s :lolbeermonkey@tehbias said:They're gonna end up selling fewer PS3 in November than 360 did in November last year.

The not "letting" part isn't what I have to be concerned about.kiryogi said:They aren't letting any employees get any for this shipment.
