Gamestop: We don't have enough to fill pre-orders!

Thus far today...I've had the same manager:
- lie about not knowing anything about cuts
- lie about how many units they are getting in
- claim that the PS3 pre-order process doesn't work like every other pre-order process that they have had since the inception of pre-orders, i.e. first come first serve on pre-orders.
Just be up front and honest so we can make alternate plans if need be.

When did they lie? When you called? They may still be going by yesterdays info and not todays due to the e-mail.. Its not like company wide they are lying.. they all just found out early this afternoon at the earliest and tons of stores arent on live e-mail.
And the preorder thing is by preorder line on the day of preorders.. hence why stores could write the order of names down etc for this reason.. They did this for the 360 too, it was in the order in which they were preordered.. If your store isn't doing this then call up corporate and they will yell at the store and fix stuff up.
So my friend works in a mall and pre-ordered a PS3 at the mall gamestop, he has some friends that work there. So he pre-orders his PS3, pays it in full. THen the next week the manager tells him they need to make holiday hires etc. and they needed a "dummy" for payroll etc. and since he already works in the mall does he want to be part time / holiday help. They tell him he probably wont get any hours, but at least he could get the discount since he shops there so much.
Now the manager tells him that even though he wasn't an employee when he made the pre-orde thatr they are axing his shit because of short stock etc. customers first.. :lol
He won't have even worked a minute at the store before friday.

Almost one year since 360's 'paper' launch and they came out ok. Sony will be just fine.
This is reminding me more and more of 2000 by the day.
I was surprised to find out I was the only person at my EB to order a 20gig... and I was the first preorder taken (hell, I got there 45 minutes before open and even at open there were only like 3 other people behind me).
"Aeris" left me a message, telling me Ridge Racer 7 will be in tomorrow. :lol

Then I asked if I was good to go at 5 and he said he wasn't guaranteeing anything and that the pre-order "order" didn't mean anything.
I'm just going to go in Friday and pick mine up...if there are any troubles I will call corporate. Maybe I can score a free used game (that is all stickered up) out of this whole mess.

Buy the games and acc. at your store because that won't be a problem and you get the discount but, never reserve a system that's just dumb and stupid. For everyone who got a call, was it your local GS of was it the corporate office? I just got home and have a call from the corporate office on the caller ID, but no message.
I don't know if mine will be there or not, so I'm hoping all the people that got calls from corporate will be getting one ok.

Whelp, confirmed that my gamestop (in lynnwood, wa) is getting 10 of the original 16. I'm number 6, tho the reciept says 8 >_< Regardless of my situation it seems I'm good. Paid off both my ps3 and wii today. XD And so far no employees are getting any either. Also, they will indeed call in tomorrow on what everyones place in line will be and who gets one.

If they guarantee (as if their gurantee means any s**t at this point) that I'll be getting one on 2nd shipment witin November to Early Dec, I would wait - but I don't want their freaking dirty Used game! I'd rather have some credit taken off for accesories like Memory Card adapter or whatnot.

Okay, here's what I'm wondering: My GameStop called today and told me my preorder may not make the cut 'cause they're only getting 60% of their launch allocation, blah blah. I was No. 11 on the list, but with the two employee reserves removed (they were No. 1 and No. 2), I move up to No. 9. The initial allocation was 16 unitsThat puts me on the knife's edge relative to whether they get 8 or 9 on Thursday.
HOWEVER, to further complicate matters, they were initially saying they'd been allocated 10 premiums and 5 core systems. All ten guys ahead of me (inc. the two employees) ordered premiums, so I was the first person to preorder a core and was not even given the option to order a premium. The question then is what happens if they get more cores than premiums--do I get first shot at a core over someone who ordered a premium, or do they get the option of downgrading from premium to core by merit of having a higher number than me? I didn't have the presence of mind to ask the guy on the phone. What he did say is that if anyone in front of me withdraws their preorder, I move up the list...so I reckon I should cross my fingers and hope that a couple of the guys in front of me are "premium or nothing!" diehards.

i love this :lol i feel bad that some of you won't be getting your systems, but between this and the Gears of War ****up, i can throw it back in the counter monkey's faces when they pull the "OH YOU BETTER PREORDER IF YOU WANT IT ON DAY 1" card.

Hmm #10 on slip for me, but I know I wasn't more than the 7th or 8th in line, so hopefully they kick the employees to the second shipment. I'll have to check in the morning. I think I was the only one to actually pre-order a 20GB, but I doubt that helps me much.

Wait did anyone else read that part? There are less ps3 because they are deverting a bunch to Japan to meat 'unexpected demand' First how the **** are these not shipped already that they could keep some after the japan launch? second, will ps3 ment for NA just work in Japan out of teh box? I know its reagion free but it seemed weird that you could send the SAME unit anywhere and it would work.
