I'm sorry, but NOTHING beats the home bases in Suikoden.
Suikoden 1 was cool, Suikoden 2 was ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY AMAZING and beautiful and became a proper TOWN and it was SO GOOD.
Suikoden 5 was pretty damn nice as well.
But seriously, Suikoden 2 should be at the top. NOTHING tops it

Please don't mind the horrible horrible neckbard narrating this
It is AMAZING
Stray Sheep
Dojima Residence
Any games that take the Mother Base formula to its furthest extent? Like, being able to interact with your soldiers, see work being done, etc.? Doesn't have to be on the same scale, but something similar.
i it really that hard to put the list in spoilers?
every single thread
This list made me realize Nintendo games are mostly devoid of HQ like places, not even peach's castle count cause usually games that have it show it invaded in some capacity.
I guess only Mario games that come to mind with such are Partners in time (Peach castle in the present, in the past it is invaded...as usual) and Bowser's inside story (Bowser himself), both from the Mario & Luigi franchise.
Big fan of Skyhold and Ebon Hawk, which they omitted.
Croft Manor is the absolute top.

Not really a home base tbh (it doesn't serve that function in the games even though it does in the fiction)
Can't think of a better pick for the top spot. Uncharted Worlds still the GOAT.
Thanks.10. Mother Base - Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
9. 221B Baker Street - Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments
8. Stray Sheep - Catherine
7. Suikoden Castle - Suikoden 1
6. Carrington Institute - Perfect Dark
5. XCOM Headquarters - XCOM: Enemy Unknown
4. Dojima Residence - Persona 4
3. The Nexus - Demon's Souls
2. Monteriggioni - Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood
1. The Normandy - Mass Effect
List fixed
Super weird to have included Mother Base in there. I thought it was severely lacking in terms of... Everything. Plus, they spend the entire video segment bashing it.
Stormwind is a terrible city though.
Plus, if they were to include World of Warcraft, they'd have to list garrisons, because that's home base now.
Skyhold
My personal home base in Morrowind was the town of Balmora. That's my #1, even though it's not a proper home base at all.
Beyond beating up your soldiers and some cutscenes, there's not much else to do. I loved the concept though and just wished you could train your soldiers, see people doing platform-specific work, see all your vehicles/animals (or at least two of each type), actually talk/interact with soldiers & NPCs beyond CQC interrogations, see mess halls and sleeping quarters being used, and other stuff to make spending time there feel more significant, even if it had the same effects on the game/gameplay that the final product does. You can't do that in MGSV? The demo they revealed way back made it seem like you could and that there was a lot to do. When I saw Carrington Institute pop up I was really wondering what's wrong with Mother Base since every time O played Perfect Dark I found no reason to stick in the Carrington Institute for more than a few minutes. In my last playthrough I don't think I spent one minute in there.
I was expecting Lara's mansion to show up too.
Skies of Arcadia?
Ok guys, I have a question. Don't know if this merits a new thread, so I'll ask here.
I've been out of gaming for some time, and I learned just now of Defy's overtake of Gametrailers.com and them firing 2/3 of the staff. The fuck.
I only got to know that because the page has been utterly, utterly broken for me today, so I went to Wikipedia to see if it has been 'abandoned'.
First of all, most of the videos won't play on any of my PCs, in any browser. Including the OPs video.
Second, the page seems extremely empty. The description is one line, all the comments are gone, there are no other videos being recommended, nothing.
Third, when I hover my mouse over "Reviews" in the top menu, the first three entries are "Review" and then there's splatoon and another game. What the hell.
Can anyone confirm?

Well Galaxy 2 also had the Face Ship.
