Gametrailers: Top 10 Home Bases

Any games that take the Mother Base formula to its furthest extent? Like, being able to interact with your soldiers, see work being done, etc.? Doesn't have to be on the same scale, but something similar.

Suikoden from Konami as well. Finding soldiers adds new things to your base and the more you recruit, the larger your base grows and you can interact with each soldier there as well.

There's some things that MGSV does better, like non-main story cutscenes happening on your base which I don't think Suikoden has, or has many of, but its still awesome.

Ever since gametrailers updated their site I can't watch any video of them. Nothing loads I don't know why, really sad. Is it happening on anyone else or just me? I use firefox btw.

I'd put Ironforge or Orgrimmar over Stormwind. Or Dalaran.

Surprised neither's not there considering how centric they are to the games stories. (Well, IF WAS in vanilla)

Anecdotal I know, but Ironforge ALWAYS seemed a lot more full and busy when I played WoW back in the Vanilla/BC days when cities actually had a point other than trawling the auction house.

Hey quick question. I can't seem to fullscreen the video. I know it's been like half a decade since Gametrailers had a usable media player (the progressive/streaming thing made no sense to me other than really crap quality videos) but please tell me this is a glitch and not a new norm.

EDIT: For those of you who get a black screen... it's your adblock. Sorry but you have to turn it off.

MotherBase really doesn't belong anywhere. Shithouse. Could've put Suikoden 2, Skies of Arcadia or even the likes of Final Fantasy airships instead. Got number one right at least.

Their player has always been garbage for me and, yes, I can't watch the video on their site.

Mother Base lol? The most boring empty pointless time waster ever? OK.

I liked the security/safe room in Dead Rising alot. Notably Dead Rising 2 actually, you see everyone you rescued like it matters. you could play poker! It always felt good to come back to and take a breather, feeling safe that you're done and don't want to deal with night time zombies. It might not have much to it as a location, but as a feels good place I thought it was great, the very simple difference that you stop hearing all the zombie voices and it's silent made a big difference.

lol @ motherbase hate.
Tho tbh it isn't really a good example of a hub world/home base type of thing. It was designed mostly as a place to sneak through in FOBs.

I suppose this isn't offering much to the discussion..... but I would like to say that I agree with the #1 selection. It's very rare that I do agree with one of these....... The Normandy is a place that seems real to me in my mind.

They're in the middle of getting all the stuff sorted, it's working on chrome for me but not firefox, I'd expect it to be fixed next week.

The new player is SO much better than the old one which is great.

Probably pure sentimentality, but would've loved to see the Breath of Fire 2 Township on the list

Picking a carpenter, building houses, finding tenants, then turning it into a flying fortress was awesome.

The Agency tower from Crackdown should be on that list. Flying through the underground tunnels to the city like you're in the fucking Batmobile was the coolest god damn thing.

Skies of Arcadia?

Yeah, Crescent Isle should have definitely made the list. Such a badass base once you get it fixed up.

This list made me realize Nintendo games are mostly devoid of HQ like places, not even peach's castle count cause usually games that have it show it invaded in some capacity.

I guess only Mario games that come to mind with such are Partners in time (Peach castle in the present, in the past it is invaded...as usual) and Bowser's inside story (Bowser himself), both from the Mario & Luigi franchise.

Xenoblade has a town you help rebuild but you never actually use it as a base of operations.

I guess Xenoblade Chronicles X has New LA that you rebuild and that one is your base of operations, so that one will count.

The fullscreen bug is one of the first things we reported.

We need them to investigate the other issues coming up with the player. I have been able to watch at work, at home, and on my phone in multiple browsers. It does seem like ad blockers are the culprit for some people, but not everyone.

Sorry, they just had to get the site up and running. Still in transition. Lots of work left to do.

Yeah you can't lock the Butler in a closet at Motherbase. Motherbase sucks. It's a bunch of loading and waiting. It'd be better if it were just menus.

Why is The Nexus from Demon Souls up there? Did I miss something playing that game other than a place where the NPCs gathered and buy stuff from?

I would think what qualified as a home base would be like Dragon Age Inquisition's stronghold or something like the player's Farm in Harvest Moon series.

Never tried out Suikoden. I'll have to try that out, thanks.

I'm sorry, but NOTHING beats the home bases in Suikoden.

Suikoden 1 was cool, Suikoden 2 was ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY AMAZING and beautiful and became a proper TOWN and it was SO GOOD.
Suikoden 5 was pretty damn nice as well.

But seriously, Suikoden 2 should be at the top. NOTHING tops it

Please don't mind the horrible horrible neckbard narrating this

It is AMAZING

Is really never used as a home base in the series. Those small briefings with Pepper do not count as real interactions.
In fact, I think the most time you are in the great fox in a game (if you can the shitty replacement of the great fox in that game) is in Command, because lots of the visual novel scenes take part inside it.
