Gamexplain Explains the Joy-Con Desyncing Problem

I wonder if Nintendo could just boost the Bluetooth receiver power in the console when it's docked. That should solve the issue because I assume no one will be sitting far enough away from it to be an issue when it's undocked.

Got too many good games to play in March as it is. No sense in taking the risk on a Switch.

Darn, someone else must have nabbed it.

I hope they blows this wide open amd force nintendo to response. Too many tech companies just grab your cash and provide zero post purchase service these days.

Talked to Jeff Gerstmann of GiantBomb on Twitter just now, after he reported being able to replicate the issue, and it seems that the distance you are from the unit may be a key suspect.

Look at this video and tell me he is too far away, just how close does nintendo expect me to sit to the tv!

I dont know if obstruction is the only factor.
Look at the Whats Up video again

Seems to have a clear line of sight when the issue occurs, if it is the same issue.

Yes. ARMS motion controls and 1-2-Switch requires it, and also it's nice to play without needing your arms to be next to each other.

Those are motion control games though, where it makes sense. I haven't held them but I don't see them being as comfortable as the Wiimote/Nunchuck, simply because of the flat form.

the only good news is that zelda news comes tomorrow, have to wonder if nintendo didn't see this coming so they made sure that after the storm of joy con gate comes the calming waves of zelda praise.

What if Zelda previews indicate poor framerate, draw distance, etc?

Just saying, it's not here yet...

This reminds me of the iphone 4. Were the signal would cut out when you held it to call someone. Seems like a bizarre thing to overlook in both cases.

Can't watch the bus right now but did Digital Chumps and Kotaku and Polygon confirm they had the same setup?

Also, so, just sitting near the TV this won't happen?

People are actually planning on playing like that? Without the grip?

Absolutely, split controllers are 100% more comfortable. Playing with a proper successor to the wiimote and nunchuk was the primary reason I changed my mind on getting a switch to be honest. The grip is pretty much going in the trash and there is no way I'm buying that awful pro controller despite how much I want an actual dpad.

I am amazed that people don't even wait 24 hours after hearing about something that could be a simple software problem fixable with an update before they make such drastic choices like cancelling their preorders. I mean it's your money but jesus christ. I'd hate to be in the car with you behind the wheel if you knee-jerk react that hard to things.

So don't cover it with my hands and don't put it behind my back, ok got it!

Also play close to the machine which I do anyway.

Sounds like a non-issue for me.

Hmmm, so blunty is right.

Seems like several factors in play.

1) If you are really close to the switch, the weak blutooth has enough power to overcome any sort of physical blockage and still stay smooth. Thats why press events never had this problem.

2) As you sit further back, the better chance that your body blocking the signal will affect the controls.

So I wouldn't be surprised if you sat lets say 7 feet, you started to have problems. Like VERY small stutters that maybe you can't notice. But the further back you go, the more and more pronounced it gets until it reaches gameexplains scenario.

It's GAF... It's all part of the stupidity and fun at the same time.

Also its a brand new console. Of course people would want to try out all the new novel stuff that comes with it.

That TV doesn't look to be that big and the recommended sitting range for it, if it is around a 40" set, is around 5-6ft. It looks like they are a bit past that range to me.

Of course, he could actually be sitting way closer than that is perceptible on camera. Looking forward to more in-depth tests!
